If you want a same-day appointment for a relaxing, no-frills massage, go for it. I was looking for more hence this mediocre rating for Lemon Tree Massage. My body is well past using massage therapy for pampering; I need it for relief from aches and pains. Out of desperation, I walked into Lemon Tree Massage for a same-day, 90-minute upper body massage. My shoulders and neck were feeling like concrete and they hurt. My massage therapist was very friendly, but she was not an expert in muscle anatomy. Therefore, the massage was not as helpful as I needed it to be. I paid $100 for a 90-minute massage plus a 20% tip. I tipped her for her effort and professionalism even though I left disappointed. She checked in throughout the massage for desired pressure, but she was definitely more accustomed to massage for relaxation versus therapeutic relief. A few more notes...There was no table warmer, which was fine by me, but you get the gist this is a no-frills experience. There is no neck cradle on the massage table; you're given a donut pillow. Definitely one of my favorite places. I was a walk-in today & I'm so glad they do. I wasn't 100% sure if I was going to have time for one on the day I came in but boy oh boy did I need it. I did a 2 hr massage with cupping. This was more of a "working" massage, with deep knots that needed some working out. The pressure was a little more intense than in past appointments but again, was needed. Will absolutely be coming back to this place. Remember, there is a small $2 service fee for credit/debit cards but I believe it's totally worth it. So happy with this place. read more

I visited Lemon Tree Massage this afternoon expecting a straightforward, one-hour massage for the advertised $70--a reasonable rate for Scottsdale. What I experienced instead was unprofessional, disruptive, and completely unacceptable. Within the first few minutes of the session, my massage therapist abruptly left the room without explanation, returning several minutes later. Shortly after, she disappeared again--this time for even longer. Moments later, there was a knock at the door. It was a police officer instructing me to get dressed immediately. The business was being raided. According to the officer, there were issues with the establishment's paperwork. Based on the circumstances, it's hard not to question whether there were additional problems behind the scenes. Regardless, the result for me as a paying customer was the same: a completely interrupted service that was never delivered. When I went to the front desk to request a refund, I was initially refused--despite multiple police officers standing in the lobby. Only after raising my voice and firmly insisting on being reimbursed did the staff return my $70 in cash. No customer should have to argue to get their money back for a service that was clearly not provided. If this business reopens, I would strongly advise others to think twice before returning. At a minimum, customers deserve professionalism, transparency, and basic accountability. Based on this experience, Lemon Tree Massage failed on all three. read more

As a massage aficionado, it's important to recognize great talent when I "feel it." The bodywork talents of these ladies was phenomenal. The customer service was pleasant and they got us in same day. They definitely advocate for upgrades and gratuity - but hardly an issue if you recognize a great service. My only complaint from making this 5 stars is the lack of communication in session. Neither me nor my friend were asked about pressure or concerns at the beginning or throughout- they just silently jumped right in for 60 minutes without touching base. Took my aunt here while she was visiting and we did the 90 mins couples massage to be in the same room. We added some essential oil to our treatment. The place was clean and tranquil. The price for the 90 minute massage included hot stones and hot towels at no additional cost. Our therapists were courteous and unbelievable. Mine asked me if I was comfortable with the pressure and made me aware of when she was about to get the hot stones, add them, etc. I also loved all the stretching incorporated during the massage. My partner and I had a couple massage at Lemon Tree massage. Our massage therapists were friendly and the massage was good for the price you pay but when we left the front desk personnel started negotiating with us on the tip. She gave us a hard time and wanted us to leave more tip. We thought that was very rude since the tip should be at the customers discretion and not demanded. If they want more money for the massage they should increase their rates but to lure you in with one rate and then treat you rudely when they are not happy with the tip you leave, it just leaves a very bad after taste and ruined the whole experience for us :( read more

I'll try to keep this simple - you get what you pay for. My experience was exactly like Jill B - about 30 minutes of pushing through a sheet followed by what I deem to be by FAR, the worst "massage" of my life. I feel like I completely wasted my money. No wonder they make you pay before the service (which I have NEVER experienced elsewhere, this was a red flag) I'm sure they had many times where people refused to pay due to dissatisfaction. Hmm, I wonder why? They did not ask for any paperwork to be filled out. Is this even legal? My therapist did not ask me ONCE if I had any problem areas etc, just once "pressure ok?" No other communication. I clarified on the phone before coming in that my therapist could do deep tissue (which is $10 extra, by the way) of course I received nothing even close to deep tissue. I'm convinced this upcharge was a total rip off. I left feeling pain in my spine, probably because the "therapist" was on her HANDS AND KNEES on my back - wtf??? Is this your attempted version of deep tissue? Granted, the therapist was extremely petite, but seriously it felt like she hardly knew what she was doing... It was bad, bad. I've had many massages and it was clear she had no knowledge of anatomy or reading the muscles in the body - or, she just didn't give a single f**k. Either one is BAD. I will say, on a positive note, all women working there were super nice, and the place was clean. Rooms are tiny and walls are extremely thin, you could hear the front door bell going off the whole time. I went in with my cousin, and she said her therapist asked her about problem areas, and that her massage was nice and fluid. Did I just get the absolute worst therapist they had? Maybe they thought I wouldn't care because I am younger? Regardless, this was a HUGE disappointment. I obviously will never return nor will I ever visit a "bargain" massage place again for this exact reason - YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. I'd much rather pay $40-$60 more for a quality massage from a professional therapist that I know will actually benefit my body, than trying to cheap out and walking away with such disappointment. I found this hidden gem on Yelp. I took a chance even though there were minimal reviews. I have been to a few Thai massage places around the valley. This was the best massage I have had. Had the most aaaamazing Swedish massage with Peter. I did a 60 min and wished I scheduled a 90! Perfect pressure for me and he really helped loosen up my tight neck and shoulders. I have already booked my next massage. A huge plus for me is that you get a lovely private room. It even has a bathroom in it. Along with that it was nicely decorated and super clean! Emily at the front desk was super sweet and helpful. They do ask that you pay first. When I asked why as that seemed odd to me, Emily was very kind and explained that it makes things faster checking out because they get so busy. You tip when checking out which works for me because if the massage sucked wellll ya know how that would play out... just saying. I tipped 25%... It.Was.That.Good. I would recommend bringing cash if you can. I was running behind so didn't have time to grab any. If you use a cc there is a $2 fee but that is nominal compared to the cost of merchant cc fees on small businesses. This is def my new go to for massages. read more

Sadly, turns out there's a reason for the prices: I'm not really sure the masseuses knew what they were doing. Apart from the massage starting 15 minutes late, they pulled down the tiny hand towels that were used to cover our bits up for most of the massage. So, my girlfriend and I are laying basically bare naked for the first half with our back ends in the air enduring a makeshift elbow massage. They used baby oil - still in the Kroger bottle - as she roughly ran her hands and knuckled her way into my spine. One of the most uncomfortable massages I've ever had. But the real reason I decided to leave a review was because after a week or so, I've had ingrown hairs from where she ripped out my leg hair. It wasn't how she called out that we didn't leave a big enough tip when we tried to leave or how she pinched my butt and told me to relax during the massage... but having to rub peroxide on my legs the last few days really did it.
