The temperature of the freezer in our Sub Zero refrigerator began to increase from the usual 0 degrees to 20+ degrees after the drawer had been inadvertently left partially open and even after removing some frost buildup, we couldn't bring the temp down. We called Authorized Refrigeration because we used them to replace the cooling coils in the refrigerator a couple of years ago and were very pleased with their service. After explaining the problem to Kevin he gave me instructions on how I could free the circulating fan, which he thought was the culprit. He told me exactly where to aim the hair dryer and for how long, and once I did that, the freezer was operating perfectly and we were saved the cost of a service call. These guys, specifically the owner Eric burned me for over 4000 dollars and left my family without a freezer for over a month. I couldn't believe that the unit could function so poorly after spending literal thousands of dollars on it, so I called Sub-Zero directly. They told me this guy basically runs a sophisticated scam by installing cheap parts but charging you way more. He is not "authorized" by sub zero, and according sub zero, never has been. Sub Zero sent out the real "authorized" servicer out from Westchester and what they found inside the unit was nothing but third party parts that sub zero doesn't even sell. Luckily, sub zero was as outraged as me and helped me get my freezer working again. The compressor Eric installed was not fit for my 700 series unit and although it worked for a while it was always loud and never cold enough. The kicker was, while the correct part from the sub zero is around 400 dollars, I spent well over 3400 just to have a cheap 200 dollar one installed in the course of an hour. He said it would be good for five years! Before I reached out to sub zero I called this company back and when they returned, instead of honoring their warranty, they charged me 175 more dollars to fill the machine up with gas claiming the problems were not related. That lasted less than 24 hours. His solution was to rebuild the unit for another 4000 dollars!! Eric would not call me back, he would not talk to me, I had to speak through his technician to even get a response. I had the unit rebuilt completely by North Eastern appliance in Westchester for less money than I spent for two fake parts with these guys. Their diagnose was that the compressor was not correct for the unit and had failed. Go figure. The parts and work that Eric did on this unit was laughable, look at the pictures of the chop job he did. The made in china fake fan was hardwired instead of clipped. The compressor had one of four bolts reinstalled. The technician that subzero sent couldn't believe how poor his solder work was. They are clearly using fake parts and charging at least 10X the cost of the real parts that sub zero supplied me for the proper repair. I've attached pictures of the invoice, pictures of the work, and pictures on the BS parts that he installed. Beware of this guy, he is NOT authorized by subzero even though he comes into your home wearing their logo and leaves stickers in your fridge with the subzero logo. I have no idea how he continues to have a five star rating if this is how he conducts his business. My experience with Authorized Refrigeration (Kevin, Eric) was marked by deception and now a complete breach of trust. I was charged $3,500 for a freezer compressor that I subsequently found out--by a reputable company and sub zero themselves-- was never installed. The freezer has never worked right since, and the temperature continues to fluctuate erratically, although they've attempted to fix it a few times. I called just before Christmas on a Friday morning because my Sub Zero was not running correctly (door seal was burning hot to the touch). They came that afternoon, professionally diagnosed the problem, and had the OEM Sub Zero part ( a new compressor fan) on hand. NOBODY else we have ever used has ever come close to the service level of Authorized Refrigeration, truly fantastic customer service. The bonus of them having all the parts that might be needed on their truck is a lifesaver and a great idea. Other companies say they do (have the parts) but in my experience - they don't. My mom's 1991 built-in SubZero -- fully stocked (both fridge and freezer) -- gave up last week and the contents were rapidly warming on a miserably hot day. We called a "big name" local appliance repair and were given an appointment two days out by a frankly rude, uncaring employee. As we worked hard to gather coolers and ice to try to preserve everything, the attitude of the person we spoke to was weighing on us. Mom started Googling around and happened upon Authorized Refrigeration's website. They offered emergency service so she took a chance and gave a call at 10:30 PM. What happened next was a study in how to provide excellent service from phone call to emergency resolved. Absolutely above and beyond in every way. Robin was very sweet and compassionate on the phone which was the first pleasant surprise. The next day, Eric arrived thoroughly prepared with all the tools and parts he could possibly need to fix our fridge. He explained what was wrong, what the risks are with completing such an extensive repair and then proceeded to fix it quickly and perfectly. it's running like a champ. We were dreading starting the process of replacing this unit, which is what we were sure he was going to say when he arrived. I have a 29 yr old sub zero Refrigerator and I call this company to repair it down in point pleasant. Kevin came the first time & did what he needed to do but after a couple of weeks there was still something wrong with freezing by the tube in the refrigerator. Eric the owner came this time & fixed that freezing probably. They both new what they were doing & with such a high end refrigerator they are supposed to last even longer with these repairs, so it's better to repair then replace with sub zero's. Yes, as good as it gets. Called Eric this morning, not even sure if he served Brooklyn (and he sort of doesn't), but he knew what was wrong over the phone. Even told me I could repair it myself and save a bunch of money. Turns out that I needed a new evaporator as well, so just as well that I didn't try DIY. They went out of their way to come to me, were in, fixed the problem, and out in under an hour. Professional, ABSOLUTELY knowledgable, and gave me a fair price as well. (Don't get me wrong, repairs on these things are expensive, but for a fraction of the price of a new one, I've got another 20 years on this one.) I Called authorized refrigeration, spoke to a real technician who answered the phone quickly and was extremely nice and professional. They sent a technician named Eric, he was probably in his 30's, Italian/irish american guy. I could tell by watching him he really knew what he was doing and I felt comfortable with him in my home even while my children were there. Eric Knew what was wrong in 5 minutes. His pricing was very fair, and he even had the real OEM subzero parts with him! It was fixed in an hour and hasn't worked this well since it was new. Typical Friday night for me. Getting ready for a busy weekend that includes a hosting of a dinner for ten. Only problem: my fridge is at 50 degrees!! I called the usual suspects only to find that they were all closed and I cant rely on a repairman first (or even second) thing in the morning!! Until I called Authorized Refrigeration. I got the owner and a promise to be at my home first thing in the morning. True got his word, he arrived at 9, immediately diagnosed the problem explaining all the while what he did, why he did it and how to avoid this problem in the future. He even left me some equipment to do some self repairs (if I ever needed to)!! He is knowledgeable, reasonable and prompt. I will call Authorized Refrigeration for all my refrigeration needs and I wholly recommend him to anyone that owns a SubZero and wants to keep it running in good repair! Too many service vendors are too quick to offer replacements because they think you can afford it. Eric is an old soul that takes pride in his work and does it well. Subzero 650, ice maker not working after having had water supply shut off for about 2 years for unrelated issue. I basically had liquid water drip into ice box, mixed with actual ice cubes. Like ice cubes swimming in box, but then everything getting frozen, of course, so end result was just one big chunk of ice filling the entire box. Eric suspected it might be some overflow issue and suggested that I try a hair dryer to completely unfreeze the ice maker to see whether that might be able to take care of the problem: 1. turn off fridge (or at least freezer) 2. Take out drawers 3. Use hair dryer to warm ice maker 4. Clean our 10 years' worth of goo all over (!), and with luck, everything works again. Took about 30 minutes. Wow, It is rare that I write reviews and even rarer that you find genuinely helpful individuals. I spoke to Eric (the owner) because my Sub Zero freezer was getting warm and my food was melting. During the COVID crisis (still happening), he walked me through on the phone what to do. He was patient, gave me his personal phone number and I even offered to Venmo him some money because they couldn't service me in person (location, I am in Manhattan). He said he was happy to help and even helped me the following morning via text. If you are looking for an honest company who really wants to help, look no further.
