I have been to a few churches in my day. I grew up catholic and vever really got a hold of it all. Although, it definetly planted a seed for me. :) I met my husband about 5 yrs ago and he had been attending faith community church for a bit. He invitedme to go when we first started dating. It was love at first sight!!! Faith community is an non-denominational church with such a mix of culture and an array of people from different economical, social, and even religous backrounds. I was immediatly touched by all the Love and passion that Faith community church stands for. It is a Huge church (which might not be for everyone but thats okay) There is a whole area for children and a seperate area for j-hi and high school. Everything is so organized even to how you check-in and pick up kids. About a year ago I volunteerd my time with the preschoolers and I had a blast. They were learning so much and the were so content. Faith community has so many outreach groups even cell groups to meet new people with similar interet. it is so amazing to meet amazing people who share the same love for things like sports, mortercylcles, cooking, anything u can name. you can even start ur own cell group within the church. My first day at faith I was so touched I gave my self to the Lord. I am Looking foward to raise my children in such a beautiful church. I know that you will feel the same way... A fun, uplifting, and inspiring church. I enjoy Pastor Jim's preaching and usually get something out of it. I like how "intellectual" he can get on some subjects. Totally appeals to the science-lover in me. I also appreciate his stance on LGBT/Q issues during service. He doesn't bring up this controversial subject often, but when he does, his message never makes you choose between issues of belief and sociopolitical justice; no matter what part of the spectrum you lie on. I greatly admire that balance and focus. The praise music at the beginning of the service is first-rate quality music, musicianship, and presentation. When BeBe Winans visits SoCal, he drops by and does a set with the house band and singers. They just rock the house. It's so dope. The facilities are outstanding: the comfortable seating, big stage with 3 big screens. There's also a day care, school, coffee shop, and bookstore on premises. I could see how some might be uncomfortable with the praise music and money collection at the beginning of service and the altar call at the end of service. Please know that I had/have the same reservations at times. If you can find your way through these moments, you might really get something out of the positive message they provide here. This is my favorite place to be on Sunday. I volunteer work in the parking team and I see a lot of interesting and exciting people here every Sunday. Faith has quite a few community outreaches, especially around Thanksgiving and Christmas. The best preachers here are Jim Reeves and Dawn Jackson. Excellent speakers and well worth the trip. The diversity this church attracts is incredible. The coffee shop snack bar is outstanding for its friendliness. When you go in the church you are first met by greeters, these people are the most welcoming people imaginable and they make you feel right at home. They do pass a collection plate, but you don't have to put anything in it. Churches are expensive to run. But attendance and everything else here except the coffee shop is free. The church offers a lot, but, you can take what you need, and leave what you don't want. There is no pressure, no instance that you believe a certain way, only assurance that God loves you. read more

I love the worship service at this church. I first came here back in 2004, and at first was taken aback (I was catholic then) by the whole atmosphere. I quickly fell in love with the church and yearned to hear me from Pastor Jim and of course always looked forward to the worship part of each service. Pastor Jim is very fresh and openly talks about different topics/current events. I once attended the Epic Life retreat in San Diego. Pastor Stephen was very friendly, as well as the other young adults who attended, they all made us feel at ease. I then continued to attend Epic Life on Thursday nights and became friends with some wonderful people. The leaders for the Set Free groups are awesome and always helpful. My boyfriend & I attended How We Love Set Free class with Evelyn & Corey Arhart. They've always been there for me when I needed them, and has always been supportive and very helpful! The Lil Kidz area is awesome. I always drop off my son during service and they always take good care of him. The volunteers are always friendly. The only downside in a church so big is that you don't get the chance to get to know everyone. But if you get involved, you do get to know other leaders in the church and make friends with people. read more

Gotta start off by saying this is by far one of the best churches I've ever attended. I was invited by a friend a little over 3 years ago and I am so glad I was. I was surprised at how well organized the place is. From parking to the children's check-in process. They make it super easy to get in and concentrate on what you're there for: The message. The parking lot is huge and there is always room for you no matter how full it might look. The greeters at the door and throughout the sanctuary are very nice and always willing to help you out. I have a son in 2nd grade and a 3 year old daughter and they just love their class rooms. They have activities for them during the service that offer teachings as well as fun. I've taken a peak into the area for the older youth and WOW....Pool tables, Wii games basketball court...pretty much anything a young teen would love. The church also offers various Set Free classes all the way from: Marriage counseling, Anger Management, How to find a job in today's economy, Divorce Recovery and even classes for Single Parents and how to Set Boundaries with Kids and Teens. I have been attending FCC for over 2 years. I always feel welcomed and never disappointed with the message. Its a true blessing to hear the diverse guest speakers and numerous opportunities to connect and grow. Service and events are always so organized and calm. The worship team rocks! The pastors and prayer staff are always pleasant and so inspiring. I have a gazillion reasons to stay planted at Faith. Amongst all great things at FCC the most important aspect I MUST brag about is the CHILDRENS Ministry. I have an infant, 6 year old and a High Schooler, so i have experienced and volunteered in all levels of the children's ministry. First off the security is solid! The children are truly safe. All volunteers must PASS background checks and fingerprints. The lessons are interactive and really do emboss the children. The infant area is clean, full of laughter, singing and best of all love! Ok, the tricky part a teenager, so i thought. My son has been moved, inspired and has made lasting friendships through the youth ministry. He has initiated invitations to friends and family to join him at FCC. He has attended conferences and trips. Wednesday nights are his favorite because of the added perks, food and special guests. Typical teenager :) I can honestly say Faith has changed our lives and is the foundation in rooting my family in the LORD!! Juiciest Church Ever Love this church!! First time I ever went to this church I fell in love with everything about it. Pastor Jim is the best pastor ever, he is so cool and funny and has a way of sending out his messages in a positive way without making you feel guilty or feel like you're being sermoned. I've been looking for a good church and I've tried many different types of churches and this church just blew me away from the first time I attended it. Being inside the church makes you feel different, just very uplifting and you leave the church feeling positively different. This church has definitely healed me and I just love going to church, it's a privilege having a church like this rather than feeling obligated to go. They also have a great kids network for every age. When my nephew is around, we always take him to church on Wednesdays and Sundays. It's safe for the kids and very professional. Each kid has to be registered in their system and once registered they get a sticker everytime they go to church and always released to the right parents who has a matching sticker. They also have services for teens with their own auditorium and own youth groups. You know this church is doing it right when my little 5 year old nephew says, "I love Church". The church is huge, they have their own starbucks and bookstore. They also have a really cool game room, just like a dave and busters in church. The auditoriums are all stadium seating with comfortable cushioned seats. Everything is high tech and really well organized. They have additional small group meetings to try to help you with whatever issue you are going thru from addictions to bible study to marathons. They try to make it fun but overall they want to help people with all kinds of problems. I really enjoy going to this church and I know that if you try it, you too will love it and it will help you and heal you. I don't work for this church or anything, just a big believer and follower of this church because it has helped me. They have services on Wed, Sat, and Sunday. Wed is a different service at 7pm. I have so many thoughts about this church. I feel bad giving them 2 stars because I have been affiliated with them for so many years, but hopefully it will cause them to wake up and realize what they're doing wrong. Pastor Jim is a very knowledgeable, insightful teacher with a captivating voice and stage presence. He has, however, let the church become a megachurch, cookie cutter, money-making organized machine. Completely inauthentic - if you glance behind you in your seat, you will see how every 'act' of the show is timed on a countdown clock. But maybe the choreographed song and dance show is what you're happy with, God knows they put on a great show with their songs and dances. I think some people feel like they're doing their holy diligence by clocking in their church time, and this provides a nearly painless atmosphere. I will gladly say this, I often take new/wannabe Christians here because it is good place for secular people to comfortably ease their way into Christianity. I mean, the smoke machines, disco lights, and leather vests appeals wonderfully to my raver friends who's preconception of church is that of stained glass windows, daunting steeples, and ruler wrist slaps. However, the teaching is a complete waste of time for anyone who is a long term believer. I blame the Joel Osteen affect. If you don't know what that means, you're part of the problem. They have a wonderful staff of pastors who I can tell are WONDERFUL hearted people. But sadly, they are being out shined by the "protocol" son of Jim Reeves who is clearly destined to take over as his father drifts into retirement. They often tag team each other in an obvious attempt ease the transition. Sad that he gets to take over the church instead of the amazing pastors on staff. I feel bad criticizing him because he seems like a nice guy, but speaking into THAT many lives is a huge responsibility... He's like a bad motivational speaker who sticks to script, trying to sound like his dad , but sadly won't ever be. He would make a great, cheesy, informercial salesperson. I really hope he heeds THAT calling instead and passes the church to Pastor Dawn. I knew he was a wash when the first time I heard pray "in your name." Really? can't even say "Jesus name?" Weak. What happened to Pastors flowing with the Holy Ghost and teaching people how to use their FAITH to command the results that Jesus already died for? Sadly, Christians of today, too often eat up this 'Jesusless' half-hopefulled motivational crap because it's comfortable, quick, and fun to look at. It doesn't require real faith, just a little hope. Again, some of the staff have been wonderful to me and I can't thank them enough. But Jim needs to pull away from the secular, Joel Osteen direction they are headed towards fast. read more

Attended off and on for several years and found that the Wed. Bible study was a better experience for me. I would find that some of the guest speakers and times when the younger Reeve would speak on weekends seemed too much of a sound bite rather then a Bible lesson; therefore I would forgo those particular services. Additionally I soon found myself purposely arrive 15 to 20 minutes after the stated start times of services to avoid the mini-concerts which seemed to take up more time then the actual service's message. The music ministry does a great job, but it seems to border on along the lines of a performance show then a celebration of worship. (3 or 4 songs I get but 25 minutes followed by a 20 to 25 minute sermon with a 10 minute altar call and almost as long offering time.) 20 minutes of gospel a week didn't seem adequate. Midweek worship soon became more to my liking as it devoted more time with actual study in scriptures (Pastor Dawn) has a gift and very informative and inspired relative insight. It's a shame that particular class is no longer available nor throughout the year. I feel the leadership is geared towards a "younger" or "hip" demographic now as the gradual transition from Pastor Jim to his son Dan. (I'm no over the hill person but it seems everyone on stage are in "skinny jeans" and "layered T-Shirts" reading passages from an I Pad rather then the Bible. ) Unfortunately for me the younger of the Reeve's falls short as a spiritual leader. Don't be mistaken..., that this is a "family business" as the reins are definitely being passed due to nepotism and not ability as I found that other's convey a more meaningful message(s) at times while sharing the scriptures. I'm sure the junior will come into his own after time but not now for me. I could go on and on about other personal observations I have made that has lead me to my decision not to frequent FCC but these are my feelings; any positive or negatives that people have will have to find on their own because through their own observations because it's a successful church and it does provide that spiritual need in people's lives and my opinion is just that..., my opinion. It just falls a bit short of my spiritual needs and growth. read more

If you are seeking a feel good message church like Joel Osteen's Lakewood Church then you've come to the right place. Why watch TV when you can get it live. I used to come here years ago until I had a problem. Marguerite Reeve (Pastor Jim's wife) is the gatekeeper of Jim's time. You need to talk your way through all of his junior advisors before you can see the man. I wasted my time with 2 "advisors" who couldn't help me. One day after a men's ministry function I saw Pastor Jim all alone. He's never alone. He is always swarmed by the flock. I started talking to him and from the other side of the room I could hear Marguerite shouting at me. She is scolding me in front of everyone as she is scurrying towards me. She has no shame. Pastor Jim is asking her to calm down and that everything is OK, but she continues with her tirade. Pastor Jim gives me his advice. Then Marguerite warns me never to pull this stunt ever again. I'm thinking to myself "You'll never ever have to worry about that for the rest of my life". The bottom line: Come here if you like feel good messages. I decided to check out this church so I went to visit and I just felt like I was watching a Las Vegas performance. When the worship team came out they were moving around like everything was scripted. I looked past it and continued in worship. For me freedom of worship is restricted because I was told by one of the associate pastors there that I need to be sensitive to the atmosphere. Of course I thought worship would have been encouraged. And when I wanted to speak to the lead pastor in regards to my experience I am told he is much too busy and not available. I respectfully disagreed and never went back. In my opinion this is a "seeker sensitive" church which is totally unbiblical. The church is for believers and thus so for us to gather and worship our Lord and Savior, to edify and to be exhorted as well as be encouraged. The day we disregard this and move toward making the church atmosphere about making people comfortable then we have moved away from biblical Christianity. If you want your church to win souls don't just use a Sunday morning service, go out Monday-Saturday and tell people about Jesus. Fulfill the commands of Jesus and win the lost. read more

My family and I have been attending this church for about 2 years. I read some of the reviews about Pastor Jim and his racial jokes. I really don't think Pastor is trying to offend anyone. I think it is just his humor. I enjoy that he doesn't try and come off as some "evangelist" trying to save your soul. He is down to earth and I agree that when I leave there, I feel blessed and uplifted. The church is huge, and it always amazes me how crowded it gets. Packed - full of every age, and race you can think of. I go to church to hear "The Word" and get fed that way. If Pastor happens to be funny, that is a plus for me, but it's not the reason I'm there. I don't care about his money, house, what kind of car he drives, or about his "Hot" wife. I do like him as a person though. Sometimes I don't really think we need to here about his personal life so much, but aside from that, I do like him. The worship team is awesome. Wish they would get more of a variety of songs, but no biggie. I LOVE listening to Bebe Winans when he visits. What a voice! Church is a very personal thing, and not the same for every person, so you may not agree with me. That's okay. You might want something different. I enjoy this church and Pastor Jim. If you want to get involved, the opportunity is there, if not, you can attend and be anonymous. My suggestion is - Try it. You never know what message The Lord has for you. read more

To those who have come on here and put down Faith Community Church.....perhaps this church isnt for you.....no one will find the perfect church.....I have been to small churches and now big churches...and I can say no church is perfect.....but Faith is darn near perfect!!! It is so diverse with the same color of people I expect to see in Heaven....every race creed and yes even white people....It is a down to earth church that isn't pretentious and haughty but a loving one where God's love shines through everyone who you come in contact there....There are things I would change: like a diversity in ages in all areas of ministry especially music....everyone seems to be under 30, but I am not in charge...I am just happy to be worshipping the Lord and all of the jokes and funniness just adds to the down to earth feel that comes from a church not trying to impress but to bring others to the Kingdom..... read more

I have been attending Faith for about 18 years. My children have grown up in this church. I understand that some may have their opinions about Pastor Jim's jokes, but he is a HUMAN folks, he is not God & he tries to keep things as relevant and down to earth as possible so that everyone from ALL walks of life can take something away with them. Is EVERY church a perfect fit for EVERY person, no, that's why there are so many. So rather than throwing stones, people should know ALL the facts before they speak on certain subjects. I CHOOSE Faith Community because Pastor Jim is intelligent, he KNOWS the word, inside & out & he teaches it in such a way that it can be used, practically, in our everyday lives. I also CHOOSE Faith because they offer SO many ways for people to get help in their personal lives. NO ONE is perfect and we ALL have "issues" & Faith is a hospital of sorts, for the hurting, and regardless of some opinions here on Yelp, they TRULY CARE ABOUT PEOPLE. Interestingly enough, I have been here for 18 years and have heard very few sermons about giving money, but for those who don't like it, READ the WORD, it's in there. And if you don't like that it's there, talk to God about that. The word says to test God in this & see if he "will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it" Malachi 3:10. Once you have been a tither and you KNOW that GOD supplies ALL your needs, you will not be bothered by anyone "reminding" us that we should tithe. However, in ALL My years at Faith, there has NEVER been a 10 MINUTE introduction to offering. I CHOOSE to be at Faith because we are a family of people who WANT to serve God & to serve others. The facilities are kept in immaculate conditions because we all take pride in making this a place where people will want to come, will love to spend time, and would want to raise their family. The worship is spirit led and the quality of musicians and vocals are top notch and the fact that they VOLUNTEER their time and talents shows that their heart is to serve God with the gifts HE has blessed them with and to lead others into worship. I have been to MANY, MANY other churches, and as a visitor, I will still go to others, but Faith is my home and I suggest that rather than choosing to base your opinion about Faith by Yelp reviews, but come, check it out, "taste and see that the Lord is good". Went here early 2003 w/ a friend when I was in a really bad place mentally (by that I mean worse than usual). I was hooked from the moment I stepped thru the doors, even tho up to that point in my life I had never been religious or even mildly spiritual. 3 months later I answered the alter call. It makes me think if I can find God, just about anyone can w/ the help of Godly places like this. God bless Fcc. Don't be put off by the overly polished theatricality of the service, or the immense walmart size of the complex, Pastor Reeve has created a true sanctuary. The only reason I don't attend anymore is b/c the drive was really getting to me -- nothing makes u feel like a hypocrite more than pulling into the parking lot of church 1/2 hour late, cursing like a truck driver. Oh yeah, 1st Sunday of the month they have baby blessings; families bring up their babies dressed in their Sunday best, Pastor Reeve says a quick blessing over the kid, and the whole congregation says, "God bless ______." Cuteness overload! And finally, I have to give a shout out to the dude in the choir who is always in the back row, singing his lungs out. You can't miss him b/c he's the tallest guy in the choir. I'll start off by saying that my mom and I used to attend this church from 2001-2006. Back then the congregation was just as big as it is now but it was still very much a church that felt welcoming and gave genuine sermons. Dr. Reeves is a very knowledgeable pastor with great wit and a fantastic stage presence. But around 2003-04 was when the church started to expand. This was when the coffee shop and all the classrooms in the back of the church were built and this was around the time the atmosphere of the church started to change. More emphasis was being placed on giving your tithe then actual bible study. There started being more guest appearances from faith healers and big Christian Rock groups like Hillsong. My mom was giving a solid 10-20 percent of her paychecks to the church fully believing that eventually God would bless her and she ended up missing out on a lot of opportunities because she believed she had to hold out. We finally left and have only returned about once every other year for their Christmas Eve service. They always sang the more traditional Christmas songs and the candle lighting at the end of the service is always really nice. This year will be the last time my mom and will attend this service and the church because both of us were both shocked and appalled by what the church has become. From the moment we walked in the ushers were incredibly rude to my mom who wanted to sit in the upper aisles. She gets claustrophobic in the crowded front rows and the back is more open and easier to get out of. The entire back was blocked off until the front rows were filled and they were having none of it from my mom. Finally a female usher was nice enough to let us sit up there only for them to open up the seats less than a minute later. The worship was uninspired and loud and they tried making the christmas songs they sang into weird rock medlies combined with contemporary christian songs. They then spent a solid 20 minutes preaching about how important giving money is and why everyone present must give. It started to become very grating. And I must say Pastor Dan sucks. Hard. And I found it pretty creepy the way he's trying to be just like his dad. From the haircut to the glasses and the form fitting clothes. Even the way he tries to deliver his sermon and his jokes. His sermon was incoherent and PC at best and felt heavily scripted and his jokes were just awful. And can someone please tell me what is up with those ridiculous communion coffee creamer cups? I couldn't stop laughing when I saw those and just felt like it just cheapens the whole point of the ceremony. Then we go to the courtyard and the bookstore has a Starbucks! I was just in awe at that point. Didn't Jesus throw the merchants out of the temple? All in all this church has devolved into smaller version of a Joel Osteen prosperity gospel feel good cult with money as the new God where services have become a big production that you pay for with your tithes. It's really sad to see so many people get duped and scammed by wolves in sheep's clothing. Stay far away from FCC if you're looking for any kind of solid biblical teaching. Unless of course prosperity gospel is your thing and you enjoy having your hard earned money stolen. read more
