I was a member at Glenkirk years ago. I asked for them to find me a weeknight men's Bible study. Pretty simple. It took them about a year and a half to get back to me. When I got into the Bible study, I found that it had been going on the entire time I was waiting for the staff to notify me. It was either incompetence or apathy, and maybe a combination of both. I think it was mostly apathy. I don't know if things have changed since....I appreciated having Glenkirk as the venue for two of my organ concerts for my doctorate. But as far as having the staff care about my spiritual growth, it was as distant as the east is from the west. read more

Our daughter began Glenkirk's Awana at age 3 as a Cubby and is now going into her second year of the program. She wears her Cubby vest proudly every week and is awarded patches on her vest when she completes a module in her Cubby booklet or memorizes a bible verse. She comes home singing new songs, and making new friends. It is apparent to this parent that the program coordinators work very hard to make each week extra special for the kids and they succeed. Snacks, activities, and fun is what your little one can expect at Awana - As well as a good moral message. One of my favorite churches in Southern California, with heartwarming and whip-smart pastors undergirded by an excellent support system of elders and deacons that provide both Christian challenge and comfort from the pulpit with well executed community services for all ages and all types of people. There does not seem to be hypocrite in the bunch as they share their growing understanding of Christ's message for forgiveness with deepening an awareness of how to live by faith. It was easy to find ways to become a welcome part of this active church: groups organized around ages and/or activities help the newcomer make friends easily. Saturday services and several Sunday services include either older style hymns or more youthful 'praise' songs during worship, leaving everyone free to pick the service that allows them to focus on the voice of the Holy Spirit as they best hear it. read more

I was blessed by the Maundy Thursday service last night: the sanctuary is beautiful and the Last Supper table at the altar was very moving. The service was nicely done with the story of the Holy Week set forth on screen with scripture, and angelic voices of their choir floating from the balcony above us. The service included no speaking providing a reflective, somber space (I wonder however if there were accessible ways for persons who are blind to receive the messages that we saw on the screen) I liked the unique way of sharing Communion as though we were at the table with Jesus on the night before the Crucifixion. A powerful and beautiful way to make the moment real. Thankful our friends Gina and Cliff invited us. read more

So glad we found this church! Having attended another church quite a distance away, was attracted to their AWANA program for my son. Their volunteers genuinely love kids and are making a difference in their lives each week. We attend the 11:11 service and leave each week feeling spiritually "filled". Update 3+ years after we began attending. My husband and I now have a 1.5 year old, and we still love Glenkirk and are fully confident in their childcare while we are in the church services. They screen all of their volunteers and try to create great teams for each classroom. They remember our son each week and are excited to see him. He also has numerous allergies, and they are prepared for this and sensitive to it, which gives me confidence in leaving him. read more

I've been attending Glenkirk for years, and even though my career has taken me to other churches due to location, I always come back to Glenkirk. The thing I love the most about the church is its commitment to helping the local community of those in need and share the gospel with those who need it. I've been to so many other churches that simply look at caring for hurting people as a side note. Glenkirk and all of its staff (even through a few pastoral changes) has maintained this deep commitment to actively live out Jesus' calling and challenge the congregation to do the same. I came to this church in 1996, recommended by then Professor Wayne Eikenberry from APU. I was fairly new in the area and was seeking a church choir. I found my place at Glenkirk. I am the mother of eight and at the time I was going through a nasty divorce. I was encouraged to attend the divorce recovery group led by Pat and I was given hope that I could make it. I worked tireless hours and then I was diagnosed with breast cancer. The choir and small groups that became my refuge and corner stone were there for me every step of the way. Members took me to doctors appointments, my children to school, assisted with their homework, meals for us and we became a bonded family. I survived breast cancer, the divorce and now my children are grown and have families of their own. I know that sermons are fundamental, but the Bible speaks of so many battles that were led and won through the ministry of music. I pray that this wonderful church will flourish again in all of the ministries that make it a church that serves the people of this community and nation as many have come and gone to other parts of the USA with her memories embedded in their hearts of the true meaning of love is all about. My hope is that all who come there will be able to lift their voices in praise with songs of all genres and that they will leave knowing that they have had a magnificent worship experience. read more

I am listening to the best part of the is church. For 40 plus years I have been priviledged to hear the fabulous Glenkirk Presbyterian Church Choir. After leaving the area for college I have returned for Easter and Christmas services. Year after year the beauty of the sound they create brings joy and happiness to all. The singers, piano, pipe organ, solos, quartets, conductor - all combine to show the love of the lord to all whom listen. I am saddened to say this will be the last time I will hear this choir. I must say I am disappointed in Jim Miller's (the pastor) choice to reduce use of the choir from 2 services every Sunday to 2 Sundays a month last year. And now he has reduced it to one Service one time per month? Has he no appreciation of the arts and the beauty of this choir? This choir set this church apart from other churches. It made this church better... and now Jim has gutted it. For shame Jim Miller, for shame. The church is for the people, not to be used as your personal play thing. As a Man of god you should know better, but clearly you don't. You have destroyed an important part of Glenkirk. I, an occasional visitor can see it - why can't you? read more

Glenkirk is filled with people who want to serve God by learning more about Him in order to spread the joy of their faith through Sunday bible study and small group study. The following are just a few of the opportunities for people of all ages and talents to become part this church community. For people who like to sing, a new choir is forming. There is a comprehensive children's and youth program that provides a loving atmosphere. The women's program includes a Wednesday morning bible study, a retreat, Christmas Celebration and C.A.M.E.O. (Come And Meet Each Other). From the elders and deacons to our ushers and greeters there is a commitment to assure that all aspects of the church are carefully executed. The local community is served through a food bank, tutoring provided through a homework club, and each January our doors are opened to the homeless at which time food, clothing and a place to sleep away from the cold nights is provided.
