I called to arrange an apostile/authenticification from US Dept of State for a marriage cert. apostiled from offie of Sec. of State in Virginia. She told me over and over the US Dept. of State doesn't do that for marriage certificates. Unfortunately she has never been to the appropriate office at US Dept of State (which I have) nor has she looked at the US State Dept. web page which describes in considerable detail the kind of documents, with special reference to marriage cert's they provide authentification for. After reading the fine print in WCS website, they provide exactly that service, but only for documents issued by Maryland and DC. She kept insisting the apostile provided by Sec. of State in Virginia was all I needed for Mexico. If you call and they tell you the same thing, hang up and find another service. I live in Mexico and and I have been told by my lawyer, mortgage banker, Immigration authorities, and both local and state goverment agencies where I live that the ONLY thing they accept is a marriage certificate authenticated in some way by US Dept of State. And do not put any trust in a company who keeps referring to "apostling documents". The Apostles are all dead, they can't apostile anything.
