We then set up a time to speak on the phone to discuss the situation in further detail. She was very helpful and told me that another therapist, Erica, would be getting in touch shortly to schedule the evaluation. We set up the appointment shortly thereafter. Erica arrived at our home right on time and was wonderful, patient, responsive, and knows her stuff! I was very impressed. We also decided to do an evaluation at my child's school which was easily scheduled. My child's teachers noted how great Erica was- they were also impressed. I was very happy with the knowledge and services of this group!

It has probably been about half a year now, and we have seen so much progress in his language development. Our son looks forward to his speech sessions and has fun while learning. I love receiving the detailed summary after each session, as well as helpful / relevant assignments that we can print out and work with at home. Erica is engaging, patient, friendly and professional. The activities continue to evolve as our son's language develops, and it's clear that the plan is individualized and personalized to his specific needs. As you know, there is no "one-size-fits-all" plan for these kind of things. We could not be any happier with Lakeview Speech and Language Clinic. If you are looking for a speech therapist for your child, just call up Tracy. She is the best!

Until very recently, he was only able to be seen (elsewhere) once every 2 weeks for Speech. At the same location, we were waitlisted for three months just for an OT evaluation! Needless to say, that was NOT working for us! My son needs more intensive (weekly!) services. Turning Wheels Therapy came recommended by another professional we saw. The owner, Amy, worked with me to get my son in for both therapies on the same scheduled day, and at a time that luckily worked with our crazy schedule. I am SO appreciative of that!! My son really enjoys his OT with Erin and his Speech with Kelsey. Both have been great with my questions. Erin especially has been great with providing me with resources and information regarding OT-based activities and supports. They are currently remodeling their basement area to better accommodate OT/equipment, and I am excited to see the final results! I am very happy that we found private services that works for us. My son is making great gains already, and that makes life easier for all of us!

Maria S. is right -- these people are NOT to be trusted. CHAT co-founder Phyllis Kupperman is my…read moreformer speech therapist. I was one of her early clients back when CHAT was still called the Center for Speech and Language Disorders (CSLD). Mrs. Kupperman preached politeness, professionalism, and good communication to me for 15+ years. When I finally demanded the same of her and her colleagues, she threw an hourlong temper tantrum in her office, whining and practically crying on my shoulder about how unfair I was for expecting more than good intentions from her and her colleagues. Prior to this, Mrs. Kupperman repeatedly broke confidentiality just for fun. Evidently, her favorite phrase was "used to." She loved to humiliate me in front of her other clients and colleagues by telling them about what a self-centered, neurotic train wreck I was as a very young child -- before my therapy sessions with her helped me turn my life around, of course. But around the time of her temper tantrum, she began breaking every promise she made to help me. When I confronted her about this, she acted as though those promises never meant anything. Twice, she told me to view having to do everything all by myself as "a positive experience in growing up." Whenever I tactfully tried to reason with her via email, she ghosted me for days, weeks, or months on end. When she finally responded to me, she didn't even mention the problem I tried to discuss with her. I eventually stopped communication with her after I realized she was never going to address or apologize for her and her colleagues' ethics violations. Maria S. and I are not the only people who have had major problems with CHAT/CSLD. One other former client left them a bad Yelp review that has apparently since been removed. In her review, she complained that CSLD failed to tell her that they were not in insurance plans until she walked in the door. She also claimed that they were "a revolving door" of therapists who were "in the wrong profession." More than half a dozen anonymous former CSLD employees have also criticized the company on Indeed and Glassdoor. They, too, have alleged extreme disorganization at CSLD. They have also claimed that CSLD overworked and underpaid them and forced them to travel exhaustively throughout the Chicago Area's charter school system after promising them time in the clinic. The most damning reviews allege continual psychological abuse at the hands of the company's current executive director, Karine Fiore. CSLD responded to these allegations by changing their name to CHAT - Life Changing Speech Therapy and changing their website. They have never once updated their company name or website on Indeed or Glassdoor. They also refuse to disclose company information to the Better Business Bureau. On their website and social media, they pretend that they have always been called CHAT and have always been committed to social justice. Social justice aside, they have never once apologized to, or even acknowledged their ethics violations against, me or any other former clients or employees that I'm aware of. Instead, they have quietly erased us from their official history. Bottom line? Don't waste your time with them. They are more concerned about their image than anything else. You'll find out how much they truly care about you when they stop getting paid to care and can't use you to make themselves look good.

My experience with rehabilitation facilities, includes 4 in the Annapolis Md area that cared for my clients ( I work with elderly people some with dementia) and friends and families. In Illinois (decades ago) I worked in several facilities that cared for disabled people and I also had experience with two long-term care facilities when my grandfather was alive. Much has changed in this field, and with Oakbrook Care I see such attention to detail and dignity for their clients, residents and staff ...it's overwhelming at times. Two months after moms initial acceptance for subacute rehab ( she is now blessed to be part of the memory care - called Garden View - and lives full time at OBC ) and it still brings tears to my eyes when I tell people about the facility my mother now lives in. My brother and I have a sense of peace about Mom that we haven't had for years as Mom is well loved and protected at OBC. Mom likes it too ! Sheets changed daily, two lovely gardens, a quiet library, excellent safety protocols, much smaller staff that really gets to know the residents in memory care. In addition staff like Norman, Maggie and Keisha all three who almost walk on water.... Is it prefect? No, but Mom isn't perfect either and I love her! I suggest families continue to respect and thank the hardworking caring staff and still diligently advocate when issues need addressing. Honoring our parents can be difficult but it very worthwhile and offers special blessings. With Oakbrook Care our family hit the triple crown of Subacute rehab facilities, and long-term care skilled facilities with memory care once Mom was accepted in the memory care unit. Thank you God !
