I've been seeing this dealership pop up constantly online, so I decided to finally check them out…read morein person today. Based on reviews I read beforehand, my experience ended up being very similar. I did not purchase a vehicle, and here's why. First, it took about 10 to 15 minutes just to get assistance and have the car brought out. The staff didn't seem organized. The salesperson helping me appeared to be juggling multiple things at once and almost forgot about me and another couple waiting. Second, the condition of the vehicles was disappointing. The car I test drove was dirty, and it wasn't just that one. Most of the cars on the lot looked like they hadn't been properly cleaned or prepped. That already gave a bad first impression. Third, while sitting in the car before driving, I reviewed the Carfax. The vehicle had a reported accident on June 15, 2024 involving a sideswipe with damage to the right rear. It was listed as minor damage, but there was also a note about prior structural repair, specifically around the rear wheel housing. When I asked about this, I was told they don't really have to disclose damage like that. That response alone made me uncomfortable. Whether that's technically true or not, transparency matters when someone is making a purchase like this. Trying to downplay it and then saying other dealerships operate the same way didn't help. Fourth, during the test drive, the salesperson kept directing me to make right turns only. That stood out to me. I chose to make a left turn instead just to see how the car handled differently, and it seemed to catch him off guard. That raised concerns about whether they were trying to control the route to avoid certain driving conditions. Overall, between the lack of organization, the condition of the vehicles, and the way concerns were handled, I wouldn't recommend this dealership. The prices may look attractive, and they don't negotiate, but you get the sense that the target customer may be someone in a rush or not fully aware of what to look for. For context, I'm not someone who enjoys leaving negative reviews. I try to be fair and honest. But this experience was surprising enough that I felt it was worth sharing for others to be aware.

I just got back from HGreg Tampa, and if you want a masterclass in bait-and-switch tactics, this is…read moreyour place. These guys don't sell cars--they practice what I'd call the Art of Blowing Up the Deal. I walked in after finding a vehicle listed at a reasonable $20K. Test drive went fine. Ready to move forward. Then the numbers came out--and I honestly had to rub my eyes to make sure I was reading them correctly. That $20K magically turned into $26K. Not because the car changed--because the fees did. Let's break it down: ~$1,721 in sales tax (fair enough) $500 for a license I didn't need (I have valid plates) $1,299 "Pre-delivery service fee" (aka dealer padding--easily 2-3x higher than typical in the area) $899 "Electronic Registration Filing Fee" (which many dealers charge $0 for) $198 doc fee (fine--but then what exactly is the $899 for?) And the crown jewel: $1,721 "Elite Protection Plan" -- presented as mandatory That's nearly $6,000 in added cost, almost 20% on top of the vehicle price. Pure margin creation. We tried to negotiate--nothing moved. Suddenly, what looked like a good deal became completely average at best. So we walked. Then--predictably--as we were leaving, the sales rep chased us down. Now the "mandatory" warranty could be waived. Interesting how "mandatory" disappears the moment you head for the door. But even then, the rest of the inflated fees remained, so we kept walking. Let's be honest about what's happening here. This pricing model is designed to trap less-informed buyers--especially those who may be focused on monthly payments instead of total cost. Bundling in things like a "mandatory" warranty makes financing easier for subprime buyers at who-knows-what interest rates. We were cash buyers, so the game changed quickly once they realized they couldn't leverage financing. Bottom line: Know your numbers. Know what's real and what's noise. And be ready to walk--actually, run. I genuinely look forward to the day when direct-to-consumer models like Tesla become the norm and eliminate this kind of nonsense entirely. At the end of the day, consumers have a choice. If you agree to these terms, that's on you. But don't say you weren't warned.

After my prompting he forwarded me to someone that could see if we'd gotten the warranty or not. Extension he sent me to had a full voicemail and hung up on me. I should have known better when I couldn't even reach the service department after the initial purchase to fix a couple of things that were broken within the 7 day period for repairs we'd found after purchase. Horrible phone communication from this place. Will never buy from here again or even bother to recommend them to anyone!

And to be quite frank iv looked at over 60 trucks in the last month and half- everything has been garbage. This one seemed to be best mechanically that we had seen. The body had quit a bit of damage, interior they did and excellent job cleaning. I bought this truck and didn't even make it home. Had to call for a tow truck, the radiator had a crack in it, had to pay for the tow, mechanic and the radiator alone was $400. The cab of truck is also leaking there is water marks all over the headliner, wouldn't crank yesterday had it towed back to the mechanics and the truck needs head gaskets and batteries. I haven't even made my first payment on this truck. Very disappointed! I would never recommend this place.

After weeks and…read moreweeks of combing the internet and visiting most of the used car lots in the Tampa Bay Area we came across the Auto Store of Tampa Bay II and we are so grateful we found it. The Auto Store of Tampa Bay is a small family owned and operated lot which is easy to miss amongst the many used car lots, congested and fast pace road it is located on. However, what attracted us to it was the noticeable cleanliness of all the vehicles on the lot. Every vehicle was detailed and display with so much pride we had go inside. After browsing the impressive lot out front we decided to go inside where we were greeted by Mike W. who was not overly pushy and very upfront about all the cars on the lot. He took the time to learn what our priorities were and answered all of our questions which were a lot. Lol We test drove the vehicle we were set to buy and notice the AC wasn't blowing as strong as it could have (keep in mind this was a 12 yr old car); Mike offered to take it to his mechanic for a check and recharge at no additional cost and even included that as a guarantee in the bill of sales. We planned to register the car in another state which became more complicated than we anticipated and Mike went above and beyond (2 weeks AFTER we purchased the car) to help us navigate the different registration and tax requirements; even helping us making calls to the Florida and out of state DMV's and getting some required forms notarized for us at no additional cost to us. Again this is a couple weeks after we purchased the car from them. Our overall experience with the Auto Store of Tampa was a great one! We were able to purchase an affordable, good looking, AND RELIABLE vehicle for our son. We will definitely be back for any future used car buying needs and HIGHLY recommended them to anyone who is hesitant about used car lots. Pros: Affordable Prices Professionally Detailed Vehicles Outstanding Customer Service Bilingual (English and Spanish) Honest about their inventory Easy to Work with and Negotiate Deal Available even after the sale is complete Good mix of newer and older cars all very clean Cons: Not the best location to get in and out of Parking is hit or miss Not the largest inventory in the area

Gagel's forgos the standard process which usually includes an 8 hour hostage situation followed by a bit of waterboarding. During which time the "customer" is either convinced the dealer "knows just what you need," or they breakunder the pressure and do as they are told. The salesmen at Gagel's allowed me to try out vehicles at will. Any questions about previous use and any previous "injuries" to the vehicles were met with frank discussions including photos of the damage that had been repaired. Since I had narrowed down my choices before arriving the entire process took under an hour. I left with a low mileage car that looks, inside and out, like it just came off the factory floor. Each car I tested was similar in that the mileage was low and condition top notch. There was no junk. How refreshing. If other car dealers took the lead from Gagel's and resorted to honest, low pressure sales, perhaps the reputation of the used car industry would climb out of the gutter.... I never thought I would say this to a car dealer---But it was a Pleasure doing business with you.
