I had high hopes for this place... mainly because of the awesome reviews and in depth research we did before bringing the vehicle in for service. I brought my C300 in for service, upon picking the vehicle up I noticed the right, front passenger side wheel and tire was not in the same condition as when I dropped it off. After several attempts to have the wheel and tire repaired due to their negligence during the after service test drive (that we didn't opt for or was told it would be driven), unfortunately Trevor refused to make this right. Additionally, I asked to see the before pictures and video that was mentioned on the phone, but was told there wasn't any. Any time a car goes in for service, a detailed report is completed by the technician, but I was told they do not do this. That's a bit concerning to me. Should have read the recent reviews, there is zero communication from this business. Took my car in Tuesday, the receptionist said it should get looked at that day/tomorrow. Waited two days to call and ask what's going on, they said they were building a quote and would call me right back, waited until Friday and had to call again and ask what's up. I get another run around of we are finishing the quote and will call you right back.Never got a call back. I finally went in Friday afternoon to get my car back. $350 wasted. read more

Went here to get my BMW serviced and they did a good job. They didn't try to get over on me or make me pay for a ton of things I didn't need which I really appreciate it. For example, my brakes were squeaking and I asked them to look into it. They said my breaks were still at a 30% and wouldn't recommend changing just yet. A raggedy place would of tried to get over on me and say I needed new breaks immediately. Customer service was great, and prices are comparable to other shops. read more

Went to Bergman's for the first time to have rear brakes replaced on my BMW. Initially thought they did a great job, but after a few weeks I heard rattling coming from the back of the car when going over bumps at low speed. Took the car back to Bergman's to have noise inspected, and after holding my car hostage for 3 days (no updates when I called, promised to get the car in to look within that hour, but never did, got the run around, and finally told them I'd pick the car regardless of fixed or not), they claimed they "looked" but couldn't find the source of the noise. After I got the car back I did some quick Google searching and found that the noise was due to loose brake pads (I could move the pads around by hand when car was parked). That process took me 15 minutes to figure out. This shop supposedly couldn't find it after having the car 3 days! Which either means they knew but didn't want to fess up, or they are truly incompetent. Either way, not a place to continue doing business with. Ended up taking the car to the dealer where they confirmed improperly sized after-market brake pads were installed, which is why they became loose and making the racket. Had to pay (again) to have the rear brakes done, correctly this time. Never again! read more

Gotta respect people who are straight up honest with you! Spoke with Kenny over the phone last week about a few problems with my bmw and he assured me he would be happy to help and take a look at it. Well today I had time to finally come. He came out and checked the car out and told me his honest opinion that I should take it to the dealership! (Whoever I bought the car from knew what he was doing when he sold it to me unfortunately) he apologized and told me it was a problem that he would feel more comfortable if I took it straight to the dealership. eware! Originally told $200 to look at car. Then called back and was told nope it's only $70. Get to the shop and verbally told it is $50 and when finally it was printed out for me to sign $60. Had my bearings replaced in 2019. Huge fiasco. quoted multiple figures. In the long run paid way more than I anticipated. Car was in shop longer than anticipated due to unforeseen problems. Called at one point to speak with mechanic and was told he was at lunch at noon and he would call me back.....4pm I still had not received a call. I called the shop and they said he didn't ever come back from lunch and had left for the day but I was assured he would work on it the next day. In the meantime I am renting a car and accruing fees for daily use. Brought the car home and the noise was still happening after thousands of dollars of work. Took it back in for another 2 days, and was told they were sent a bad bearing and replaced it. Brought the car home and still had the same noise that was never there before. Didnt have time or money to take back immediately. Finally took it back in and was told there is no way it could be that same bearing. I was told when I was there last they just replaced the bearing a second time because they had no idea what was wrong which is not the original story and this time it was by the owner! He then tried to tell me that I only had one bearing replaced???!!! Even argued with me about it. He finally went into to his computer to try to prove me wrong and it turns out I was correct. He told me I must have my mind stuck on this noise and there probably isnt even a noise. He said all cars make noises and that I should just ignore it. Really??? I will be finding another shop to gauge what the problem is. I have to say he was rude and obnoxious and the deceit about what was truly going on was unbelievable. I found this place after feeling frustrated with the dealer in Tampa. I previously used the dealer in Lakeland but that store stopped servicing volvos. I found the owner and staff to be knowledgeable and very friendly. I am probably paying a little more for something I could get someplace else but I like that these men know my car, look for things that need to be fixed, and respect that I am going to keep this car for a long time and I need to be functional. They've always answered my questions and worked me into their schedule when I had a car 'emergency' or other need. Give them a try,I think you will be happy with the service. read more

Since it was a possible warranty issue they suggested a trip to the dealership. The charge was very reasonable and the dealer assisted me in making a decision about which avenue to choose. Thank God I found Bergman's. Like Shelley P., I was also used to the dealer in Lakeland, Robert G. Waters, but they stopped selling and servicing Volvos several years ago. :( They were the absolute best, IMHO, until I found Bergman's. I've been driving Volvos exclusively since 1990, and I've been to every dealer in the area more than once. Not impressed, at all, by any of them, with the exception of RGW in Lakeland over the years. Several I actively avoid. I'd found 1 garage waaaay away in Tampa that was ok, but nothing special. Time came that my 10 y/o XC90 needed a bunch of work I couldn't avoid; like brakes, and several other maintenance items. I didn't want to take it to the dealer since I consider most of them incompetent, expensive, far away, and so impersonal as to be almost hostile. I knew of Bergmans, Asked around and got favorable reports. Ok, made the appointment and took it in. What a pleasant experience! The office is neat, clean, everyone was friendly, and genuinely interested in helping you. I gave them the list of repairs and service I wanted done, and went about my way. They did what I wanted, that day. When I picked up my car it had been vacuumed and washed. Well, that's a nice touch. The bill was also a nice surprise; very reasonable. They took their time checking me out, and made sure I understood what had been done, and what might need attention in the future. No pressure, just information...something I appreciate as I'm not knowledgeable about cars, at all. I'm lucky to know how to pump gas. I say people like me are the reason AAA was invented. Anyway... Had to go yesterday as the plastic base or housing for the drivers seat had started cracking and falling off. What wasn't falling off was in shards and I was risking impaling myself every time I got out. When I called to make the appointment I was told the cost would be about 100.00 for the part. Or that's what I understood. Turns out, that was for the whole job! Anyhow, I went in Thursday morning, ready for it to take all day. He says we can do it while you wait if you like. Huh? How many hours will that be? Turns out it was @ 1 hour. Talk about pleasantly surprised! I was just getting settled in for a nap in the comfy customer lounge. BTW, for you who need it, they have good Wi-fi and a real desk & office chair in the customer lounge so if you need to work on your laptop while you're there, you can. After those experiences, I'm going to be a permanent Bergman's customer, and will encourage other folks I know who drive European cars to get their cars worked on at Bergman's. They have absolutely everything you can want or hope for from a trusted shop; first rate mechanics, fair, honest pricing, pleasant, knowledgeable staff and real customer service. I bought a used BMW 335i from some local people that had their service done at Bergman's. They strongly recommended them. My car started leaking oil and so I took it into them. Clark the service manager was very knowledgeable and checked out the entire car. Once they narrowed down where the leaks were coming from they worked with Warrantee Company to ensure the items were covered. Impressed with their customer service I opted to get the valves cleaned as well since the top of the engine had to come out anyway. They could have charged me for this and not done it and I would have probably never know but when I dropped in on them sure enough they had the intake off and were cleaning the intake ports as agreed. I would take my Bimmer here long before I would ever drop it off at the Stealership. Honest people in a business that is riddled with not so honest people. read more

Friends I took my bmw to this location for a head light (HID ) well they called me and told me it was 800$ to replace the hid control unit , funny thing was it only took them about an hour . I decided not to fix it so I decided to try to fix it .I found they had put electric tape to separate the frayed wires .Wow 800$ for electric tape but the tape was slid down and the wires were touching .I removed the tape and put on shrink-tube on both wires and bam all worked .I felt so cheated any other person who has no knowledge on how to try or have tools would have paid 800$ .Yesterday I posted on their FB page and they deleted my comments .I will call on Monday for a refund of my 120 $ diag test. Never will I ever take my cars there .I give them a -10 for the dishonest service. Now they have blocked me from face book .Calling the BB in the Am .Heres the invoice and how I fixed it . read more

If I could have given zero stars I would have. This place has opened down the street again. I have a C 320 that I took to these guys. If you have unlimited funds and don't care to deal with honest people, bring your car here. If you want an honest price, for an honest days work, go somewhere else. I live in Brandon, and didn't want to keep bringing my care to Tampa to get fixed. I wanted to support a local business, so I thought I would give them a try. They up sold me (completely my fault, for falling for it)and then didn't fix the problem properly. When I brought this to there attention, they were going to charge me $100 to take a look at it. If they determined that they were at fault, than I would not have to pay. I did not trust them to be honest with me. I keep my cars for a long time, and I was looking for a shop that I could go to. The truth is, i found one in Tampa, and will never return to this shop, or when the next one goes out of business to it either. Top notch service! My BMW needed some work done and my co-worker mentioned Bergman's works on BMW's at a fair price unlike the BMW dealerships. So I contacted Bergman's and spoke with Kenny who was very helpful and took his time to answer all my questions. I told Kenny what work I needed done on my car which took him no time to call me back with a quote. I took my car in the next day to get the work done and when I got my car back I was trilled with the entire experience! My car runs better then it has in over a year! Completely unprofessional, and evasive attitude. Do not bring your car here!! I drive BMW 325Ci and unfortunately my car was not "cranking but not starting" (Bergman's words) I took an appointment with these guys last week as my car was not starting and it could be some other reasons. So I towed the car to them, filled up their "form" available. I checked off the oil leak box and they got a chance to take advantage of this. When I called them up he gave me a list to do charged me $110 to diagonise the problem, replaced the fuel pump (costs came to $900). Total was close to $1100. I asked them while leaving - any recommendations or any suggestions. They told me -- Exact words "we didn't tear the entire car down so don't know!" Next day I notice my car started to leak badly and noticed coolant was draining. When I called them up, and they were completely evasive about it saying I declined inspection of the leaks, which doesn't make sense because they already charged me huge sum of money to see the leaks, apparently they replaced the engine oil plug and I suspect they must have done something with the coolant reservoir also. He quoted me ridiculous amounts of money to replace the reservoir, thermostat and hose!! So just avoided further embarrassment. Now the biggest shock - I opened the trunk and notice the clip-on cover for battery is disengaged and not replaced. So this sums up whole experience - unprofessional, unresponsive, lazy and money launderers !! I will see if I can post the pictures. read more

I have taken my car here for about four years, and there's not a whole lot to complain about. The owner, Carl, and Kenny are very professional and friendly. Their mechanics also seem to be thorough. Their prices are a bit high, but that's expected with a small, independent shop like theirs. They do try to upsell you sometimes, but they don't force it. My gripe is that they work bankers' hours: 7:30-5 weekdays, and closed on weekends. Also, they always seem to be short-staffed. If I want an oil change, I have to drop off my car for about four hours and get a ride from and then back to there--even though I always schedule in advance. read more

I have been going to Bergman's for almost ten years. Both of my children own vehicles that they work on and they also service their cars here. In 30 plus visits I have only been disappointed once. All I had to do was mention it and the owner had no problem explaining the situation, turned out it was just a misunderstanding. They have been in the Brandon area for over 10 years now. They have moved three times, each time getting larger and better equipped. There have been several occasions in which the staff could have easily taken advantage of my trust in them and they have yet to do so. Example. My daughter took her Acura MDX there because the A/C was not blowing cold. The service advisor called me being the Father and told me the car was under warranty and I should take it to the dealer. I thanked him, and asked him to check it out anyway. The MDX needed a new A/C compressor. Again, the staff told me to take it to the dealer, which I did to get the free repair. I am shocked to see the negative review for Bergman's. If you search for them on google or facebook all of the other reviews are the opposite of this one. My guess is either it was a misunderstanding or the review was left by a competitor trying to tarnish the shops excellent reputation. Don't take my word for it, stop in and see for yourself.
