CarMax Misrepresented the Vehicle and Refused Accountability…read more UPDATE - 10/3/25: A representative from corporate reached out and after conflicting information and excuses from what I was told by the dealership they are still unwilling to take any accountability or make any offer of compensation. --- I purchased a car from CarMax after their employees explicitly told me it had no accident history. That statement was false and misleading. When I went to sell the car, I discovered that the DMV had recorded an accident on the vehicle a full year before I bought it. This misrepresentation cost me a $3,000 in lost value, verified by an auto broker who showed me recent comparable sales of nearly identical vehicles. When I raised this issue with CarMax, they refused to accept any responsibility or compensate me for any of the loss in value. CarMax heavily markets "peace of mind" and "transparency," but my experience shows those claims are hollow. If their employees can misrepresent a car's history and the company refuses to make it right, then buyers cannot trust the accuracy of anything they're told. Furthermore, do not rely on the CarMax vehicle inspection to uncover previous damage that would have been discoverable by a competent mechanic. Be certain to complete an independent pre-purchase inspection using a competent mechanic. CarMax misrepresented the vehicle I purchased, and their refusal to stand behind their word shows a lack of integrity. Buyers beware--you could be left with a car worth thousands less than you were led to believe.

The issue caused significant damage and could have become a much larger safety concern. It was an incredibly frustrating experience, and while there may be differing opinions about whether something like this could have been identified during the Blue Certified inspection, I appreciate that Freeway Ford took the time to review everything carefully and hear our concerns. What really stood out to me was how Freeway Ford handled the situation. Even though they weren't required to do so, they agreed to cover half of the repair costs as a gesture of goodwill. That willingness to work with us and help reach a fair resolution says a lot about how they value their customers. I especially want to recognize Dustin, our sales manager. He has been fantastic from the day we purchased the truck through the resolution of this issue. He has been responsive, honest, accommodating, and consistently kept us informed throughout the entire process. It's clear he genuinely cares about his customers and wants to do the right thing. I also want to thank Joe, the service manager, for taking great care of us. He thoroughly inspected the truck, addressed our concerns, and made sure everything was corrected so we could leave feeling confident the issue had been resolved and wouldn't happen again. His professionalism and attention to detail were greatly appreciated. While no one hopes to experience an unexpected repair so soon after purchasing a vehicle, what matters most is how a dealership responds when something does happen. Dustin, Joe, and the entire team at Freeway Ford handled a difficult situation professionally and fairly, and for that, we're grateful. Thank you for standing behind your customers.

My experience with Freeway Ford went from pushy to genuinely disturbing…read more I initially requested information about a used 2025 Ford Explorer ST. Before anyone from the dealership contacted me, I looked up the CARFAX report myself and saw that the vehicle had been listed as a manufacturer buyback/lemon-law vehicle. The dealership began contacting me through phone calls and text messages, although I had not consented to receiving texts. I explained that I had reviewed the vehicle's history, was no longer interested, and would be passing. That should have ended the conversation. Instead, after I said I was not interested by text, dealership employee Michael Holguin called me three times within a single minute. I was in the middle of my workday and repeatedly declined the calls, yet he immediately called again each time. A manager identifying himself as Joe also placed me into a three-way text conversation with Michael, turning a simple "no" into a two-against-one sales pitch. They repeatedly pressured me to speak with them by phone so they could "explain" why I should reconsider. I said I wasn't interested. I asked them to stop calling. I asked them to stop messaging me. Joe then contacted me again through a separate message thread. In that message, he dismissed the vehicle's history as being the result of a "dumb law" and continued trying to change my mind--even though I had already explicitly told him to leave me alone. My phone was then bombarded with eight No Caller ID calls in approximately four minutes, along with an unwanted FaceTime attempt. It appeared that my number had been placed into a robocaller. Every time I pressed "ignore," another call followed. I told Joe directly that his behavior was creepy and embarrassing, but the unwanted contact continued despite my repeated requests that it stop. This behavior was invasive, intimidating, and completely disrespectful of my privacy. I owed this dealership no explanation for declining the vehicle, yet I gave them one anyway. They simply would not take no for an answer. Not only will I not buy this vehicle, I will never buy another vehicle from this dealership--no matter what. I have screenshots documenting the messages and call history, and I strongly recommend taking your business and personal information somewhere else.

Before I jump into my disappointment, I want to give kudos to Alexis, who was super professional…read moreand very transparent about the process and what to expect. She was the best part of this experience. I have an older car (2000 w/ 147k miles) that has mechanical issues that aren't worth the cost of fixing, which is why I'm selling it. it's also not cosmetically the best and honestly, its value is in the parts. I had originally considered selling this vehicle earlier this year and got an initial offer that was around $600, then got an increased offer for $800 within a couple of days. I decided not to sell it at that time, so I was surprised when I redid my estimate a couple months later, the offer came back at $800 again. After reading all of these amazing reviews, I felt like I could trust this place and get a decent price for my car. Because of the mechanical problems, I went in expecting that the offer might come down a little bit, but not more than a couple hundred bucks. After Alexis did her complete inspection, she walked me through what she found and showed me a screen where they were estimating that about $7500 would need to be put in to refurbish this vehicle. And then offered me $100 for it. There is no way this vehicle is worth refurbishing, so it felt like a clear bait and switch so they could make a profit on selling it for parts. When I said I would accept no less than $600, they upped the offer to $300 so I thanked Alexis for her time and left. I don't think anybody should realistically expect to get an offer almost 90% lower, even though the platform doesn't allow you to put in enough detail to get a realistic offer to begin with. I would've much rather preferred to have a low estimate and walked in and got a better offer. I sold my car to a competitor and got the price I was looking for. *Adding to this review following the below response from the owner. The intake form on the website does not allow for much detail in disclosing things that are wrong with the vehicle that would impact the overall valuation. Additionally, the mechanical issues were disclosed to Stuart on the phone when confirming the appointment and he did confirm that the inspection could change the overall offer, which again, I was expecting. The website does not make clear that they are really only looking for vehicles that have a resale value. Even so, I have to reiterate that they would not buy my car for $100, put $7500 into it, only to be able to sell it for roughly $2500 (top value on KBB if they did all the work they claim they would do). That would be a ridiculously stupid business decision. They essentially offered me a disposal fee. Most people that are looking to sell their vehicles through a service like this are looking to sell because the resale value is low. But thanks for gaslighting me, Kevin!

Brown to see what they could do and when I got there no one was at the reception desk (I did not make an appointment or anything) and a guy named Macy Marsh saw that I was in need and came out to see how he could help. Mind you I had no appointment, I just dropped in. So I told him what I was looking for in a jeep and he said to give him a little while and he would see what he could do. That same night he texted saying not only did he find one but that it had all the extras too and if I would be interested. I sure was. And to make a long story short he was able to get me the jeep of my dreams in about 48hrs of me coming in with no appointment. Macy and H.M. Brown really came through for me. Thanks again to all made it possible.
