Extremely disappointing experience with HM Brown Automotive. I was purchasing a vehicle through another dealership that had confirmed the vehicle was available in HM Brown's inventory. HM Brown was aware that the other dealership had a buyer for the vehicle and was proceeding with the sale. The next day, when the dealership contacted HM Brown to arrange transportation, they were told that HM Brown had sold the vehicle to someone else. To be clear, this wasn't simply a situation where a vehicle happened to sell before we could buy it. HM Brown knew there was an active transaction involving the vehicle and another dealership, yet chose to sell it out from under that transaction. I understand that dealerships want to sell vehicles, but I also expect businesses to operate with integrity and honor their commitments. This experience made it very clear that I could not trust HM Brown Automotive to do so. Macy Marsh is hands down the best car broker/salesperson I have ever worked with. I was sideswiped and my car was deemed a total loss. I had worked with HM Brown before and so had my friends so I thought I would give it a try again. I knew what car I wanted going into this search and test drove a different model and got sales dude vibes from that dealership. I ended up submitting an online inquiry and am so lucky I got matched with Macy. He brought the car to my work in Lakewood from Centennial to test drive and my husband came and met us. He was so friendly and funny and totally normal. We decided we liked it but had been waiting on the payout for our previous car so he told us we could place a refundable deposit down to hold the car for 48 hours. Timing was on our side and everything came through perfectly. We filled out the financing forms online. And he covered the car to us and signed paperwork at our own home! On top of that, we wanted a hitch installed so he coordinated the service and we dropped it off at Groove Toyota and then he delivered it again to us all finished! I began looking for a used Lexus NX in Dec of 2024. I found one that I was interested in at HM Brown in Centennial, CO. It was, I was told, in the shop getting its sunroof fixed and there were two other interested parties in front of me looking at the car. A couple of calls were made asking if I was still interested in being "in line" for the car over the next several weeks and I replied yes. Then ...nothing. About six weeks later I called a different sales person re. The car. It was, apparently sitting in the lot with no one "in line" for it at all. My nephew test drove it. Tires were worn badly and a piece was quite literally detaching from the body of the car, though, that was really no big deal in itself...just tacky. We were told that no price adjustments or tire replacement could be made on the car after the test drive. Long story short, I went elsewhere, bought the same exact car with new tires, L Certified, and $1200 OFF the price of the car at HM Brown. I will NEVER not use a car broker again. I started using a broker about 3 cars ago and once go to a broker you can never go back to doing all the leg work yourself! HM Brown is nice because they have a large inventory of used cars, but they will also go make deals with new car dealers on any car you want (so you get the best of both worlds). I tell you, you tell them I want XYZ car and want to pay XXX and they do it! I don't know how! I mean they aren't magic or anything, they just have their connections and can do what most of us can't on our own. We just had our broker get us out of a lease early and find us the perfect little mini. They make it so easy. I hate to haggle and now I never have too!
