Here are the facts: - Brought the vehicle in on Tuesday 8/4 - it was returned on Thursday 8/6 - the odometer had 131 miles added since I dropped it off and my tank was empty. Brought it in with a little over half a tank. - The car pulled to the left when engaging my lane keep assist system, so the calibration was not done correctly. - I was told the technician had to do a lot of "testing" and had trouble getting it the stay centered in the lane. - A lane keep test should only take 5 - 10 miles, how did they rack up 131? Did they test it 15 times?? - I told TJ in the service department about the situation, he gave me a very nice MDX loaner and assured me they would fix my vehicle. TJ was honestly great. - my vehicle was returned 7 days later on 8/13, I was told their calibration machine had an issue. - I paid $3,500 for the brakes and camera service, it took them 9 days, and I have reason to believe they were joyriding my vehicle. That amount of milage for "testing" when clearly the testing never occurred. Otherwise my vehicle would have been working perfectly when it was returned the first time. Customers go to dealerships and pay higher prices because we expect the best quality, expertise, and service. I didn't receive those things, so why would I go back to the dealer and pay their prices? If you're considering Cater Acura of Lynnwood, I would reconsider. Oil changes, brake jobs, easy things are probably fine. Throw an air tag in your car.

And that the M-B van maintenance center in Lynnwood is a separate facility from the main dealership on the same road but on the other side (east) of highway 99 a few blocks north and set back from the highway with a sign that is visible but not real large or prominent early on a dark winter morning. I arrived before they opened and they opened promptly at 8AM. My experience was superlative. The service advisor Scott was very considerate and upbeat and a great help. We discussed options for maintenance and he explained their policies and that of M-B and he was very candid about the best options for me. The mechanic Kevin was very thorough and made great suggestions for dealing with our relatively new camper van that has a lot of professional modifications. I was called in a few times from the waiting room to confer with him and learned some valuable tips about the complex systems of the van. He cleared some codes in the electronic system that my scanner could not deal with and they have not reoccurred. The parts department was helpful in identifying some minor parts I needed. The waiting room was comfortable with beverages and snacks. M-B are not cheap to own and maintain but are worth it in my opinion and I will return again to M-B if Lynnwood Van center. I often do my own vehicle maintenance and modifications as I do not trust most domestic and foreign car dealers for even simple tasks. Some can even screw up a simple oil change or tire rotation. But I fully trust the team at M-B of Lynnwood Van as they clearly know their business and are there to help with courtesy. We promptly decided to return the car under CarMax's return policy. However, when we went to return it on Thursday, we were told that the soonest CarMax could issue our refund check was Monday. That is incredibly frustrating when you consider that CarMax was able to take our money immediately when we purchased the vehicle. We paid cash specifically so we could have the flexibility to purchase a reliable vehicle for our son, who is extremely excited about finally being able to drive. Instead, because CarMax could immediately withdraw our money but could not immediately return it, we are left without access to those funds for several days and unable to move forward with purchasing another vehicle. The customer service was equally disappointing. Denise was extremely unprofessional, and throughout this entire process, I found the staff at the Lynnwood location to be unhelpful and unwilling to take ownership of the situation. We repeatedly had to try to figure things out ourselves rather than feeling like anyone was actually advocating for us as customers. I understand that used vehicles can have issues. With the recent heat, driving had become almost unbearable. After purchasing the sensor and getting back into his car, one of the employees ran after him and asked him to come back immediately because they had looked up my VIN and discovered that my vehicle had an open recall. They refunded the money for the sensor right away, scheduled me for service just a couple of days later, and completed everything the same day. Not only did they take care of the recall, but they also performed a full inspection, even checking my tires. They replaced everything that needed attention--including both A/C sensors (I didn't even know there were two!), a charging cable, and a couple of fluids. My air conditioner now works perfectly! To top it all off, they washed my car, which was such a wonderful surprise. Everyone was incredibly kind, professional, and genuinely helpful. When I contacted the dealership for assistance, I explained that I have children and that this was a major safety concern. I also explained that I could not safely get the vehicle there myself and could not afford a tow truck. Initially, I was told they would need to ask the owner about helping with a tow, but nobody ever followed up with me. When I called back, I was then told there was "no way" for them to get a tow arranged. Because of this, I was forced to manually bypass the warning/code issues myself just to get the vehicle drivable enough to make it from Mount Vernon to Lynnwood. During that drive, I had no functioning brake lights or turn signals, which made the situation even more dangerous. Despite explaining all of this, I felt my concerns were brushed off. When I finally arrived, I was told they "didn't HAVE to help" me, but that they would once the vehicle was there. At one point, after expressing frustration and mentioning possible legal action, I was also told that if I pursued that route they would not help me or fix the issue. Since purchasing the vehicle, I have also discovered that both the engine air filter and cabin air filter were extremely dirty and appeared to have been neglected for quite some time. These are basic maintenance items that should have been inspected or replaced prior to sale. I also later learned the vehicle originated from Canada, which explained why there was limited history available through Carfax. While I did notice scratches and dents at the time of purchase, I was disappointed to later realize there may have been additional history I was unable to fully verify beforehand because Canadian vehicle history does not always appear the same way on U.S. reports. To be fair, the dealership ultimately did fix the issue and paid for the repair. However, the way the situation was handled from the beginning -- especially considering the safety concerns involved -- left me with very little trust in this business moving forward. What makes this even more disappointing is that I traded in my nearly brand new Toyota with only around 25,000 miles on it because I trusted this dealership and expected the vehicle I purchased to be properly inspected and reliable. I would have never traded in my dependable, nearly new vehicle for something this unreliable had I known the condition this vehicle was actually in. I understand that once a used vehicle leaves the lot, responsibility largely falls on the buyer. However, customers still expect vehicles to receive thorough inspections and to be reasonably safe and reliable at the time of sale. Unfortunately, this experience was stressful, disappointing, and has left me questioning how carefully these vehicles are actually inspected before being sold.
