I shopped around, read various reviews and chose Auto Image in East Brunswick to install my Alpine Navigation and Radio System into my brand new 2016 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. The main factor in choosing them was my intuition and first impression (via phone). The gentleman I worked with was very helpful in so many ways. He followed up when he said he would. The pricing I was given was very fair. The products and accessories he recommended was exactly what I wanted. Scheduling the job was seamless. The work they did on my brand new car was perfect! I was completed delighted that my car looks even better than when I bought it.. The Jeep looks like it came right off the assembly line with a factory system. - Car was supposed to be ready in 1 week; they took almost a month. They had trouble trying to find sub signal. Picked up car; it was dirty & $70 tank of gas empty from idling. - Audio had static noise & poor sound from rear speakers. Parking sensors also didn't work. Had to bring car back for another week to fix parking sensors. - Back again to custom install 2 more rear speakers to fix poor rear sound. Shop lost keys during install & took a week to find them. Car still didn't sound good; said sound from rear speakers couldn't be improved. - Sound System stopped working & Edison location closed; other locations too far. -New shop showed me the problem: Auto Image broke RCA connectors on wires & fixed them with electrical tape, which came apart. Amplifier was also overheating from cheap wiring. Several clips also broken. - New shop immediately identified sound problem. Auto Image installed a Line Out Converter, which is inappropriate for my car. A digital sound processor should have been used. Static & poor sound were instantly corrected when correct sound processor was installed. Auto Image shouldn't have taken this job if they weren't knowledgeable enough to do the work correctly. I was billed for premium wiring, but they installed very cheap wires, which they broke. Made me waste money on incorrect, unnecessary equipment. Also wasted hundreds taking taxis when car wasn't ready on time & going back & forth for them to fix problems. read more

I had my SUV detailed here on Saturday. There were a few things I wanted special attention on. They did none of them. I had to point them out after the fact and then they made good. They did not compound the car, only waxed it. So none of the small imperfections were taken care of. There is still dirt in the door jams, The wheels were dirty. They forgot to put my floor mats back in the car. I had to go ask for them back. Just an overall lack of attention to detail and that is really the point of getting your car detailed right? Stopped in before Christmas as I was looking for a Remote Starter for my wifes car and really didn't want to deal with Best Buy. Spoke with Gary who was extremely helpful explaining all the features and the various models available, Having done some research I brought up some concerns I had and he had the right answers for everything. I wasn't going to book the installlation until after the Holiday but Gary suggested it would be best to get it on the books. Took advantage of a great deal they had on Living Social for full car detailing. My car is pretty clean form the start, but knew it could look better. They were great to start, friendly and had decent availability. I brought my black car in for the detail and when I got it back, it looked absolutely stunning. But then it all went wrong from there. About 4 days later after it rained, I noticed the car had significant holograming, a form of swirl marks. I contacted them and brought it in for them to see. They were surprised to see the issue and said they would take care of it, Meanwhile the car was so bad I was embarrassed to drive it and was without my summer car for almost 2 weeks. After they redid the detailing, it once again looked great until about a week later where the marks again showed up. I contacted them again and brought it in. The manager Gary had a different attitude this time; he was quite short with me. The other guy that seems to be in charge there, do not have his name, was quite the opposite and very accommodating. They looked at the car and said it must have "soft paint" and they would have to contact their product manufacturer. Once again my car looked horrible and was an embarrassment, so I barely drove my summer car for another 2 weeks (4 weeks now) in the summer. After contacting them three times to find out the status, they told me to bring it back in. They once again detailed the car and once again I picked it up and it looked great. I asked them what they did different and got and attitude from Gary. The other guy politely cut Gary's attitude off and explained they redid the entire car and used a special black wax. A wax? Well right then I knew it would return and about 2 weeks later it did. I had enough of dealing with them and just gave up. The time me and my girlfriend had to spend getting to and from there was just too much. I ended up detailing the car myself and improved the issues significantly, but they are still there. I just got an estimate of $350 to fix the issues. So much for a great deal. On the plus side, they did do a great job on the interior and I think they redid it every time it was in there. They also did say they stand behind their work and would fix it, but dealing with the attitude and the time to get it there was no longer worth it. read more

I don't write reviews due to my non computer experience. I was told by several friends in conversation that Auto image is slowly closing up stores. Friends needed work done and Zippos is no longer on rt 18. My friend Charlie said go to Auto image, and that's how the conversation started. in a group of 8 all said the service and quality has gone down hill, that's why they are closing up shop and Gary is still trying to hold on. About 3-4 years ago I bought my car in for remote start, Garry or Jerry not sure of the name was friendly, I have dealt with this company many years back when they had cell phones. I decided to give them a visit. when the car was completed he did go through the use of the starter. As I was pulling out I noticed a cross that was hanging from the mirror was missing. I asked Garry maybe Jerry that there was across on the mirror. he said the tech had to work around the mirror and that he would ask him of course he said he did not see it. I know it was there and I confirmed with my wife just in case my mind gets forgetful. she said it was there. asked if I can go in the back to check myself, he said no. I was going to due a police report it would have done me no good, I had no proof (he said she said) A friend of mine search behind the dash board just incase it fell back looked all over the car, nothing. The vehicle was locked so no one got into it. The biggest insult was when the tech looked at me in the face and said it was not there when he was working on it. if I was younger I probably would have gone to jail for assault. They are the ONLY shop i trust nearby, i have been to nearly all the car stereo places for various installs throughout the years, and Gary and his staff keep me coming back time and time again. They do CLEAN work, are upfront and honest, and have never let me down. I appreciate the attention to detail and all the options they gave me when installing car stereo/electronics. I had two auto starts installed. One auto was installed inCorrectly, drained two batteries. I was over charged at 275 per car. Also, it took about 5 to 6 hours to install. Didn't bother getting a refund. I was done with them. read more

Purchased an Alpine stereo from these guys a year and a half ago. They did an excellent job on price as well as the install. Had something happen where I lost the Bluetooth for my cellphone last week....just wouldn't pair up. Stopped in the East Brunswick store and met Gary the manager. I'm a heavy smoker, so the glass needed some serious attention to get the nicotine off (including the rear window which has a defroster.) The glass was crystal clear and no damage to the rear defroster. Both cars were detailed excellently and ready on time. Even got into the nooks and crannies of the cup holders and change holder. I accidentally left $100 in small bills in one of the cars. I figured that was the last I'd see of it. They knew it was there... it was waiting on the passenger seat when I picked up the car. BEWAREEEE. brought my truck in. They took it in the back for almost 30 minutes Then came out told me they can't work on it because there's a check engine light. (Suddenly) Suddenly my truck has a problem but they didn't do anything yet or touch it in the last 1/2 hr. Why they changed there story 5 times is beyond me. When questioned they got very defensive and the story went from we noticed it when we took it to, we didn't notice it till now. I tried to take advantage for a remote start that Auto Image advertised for $99.00. The guy at the store told me that price is only for cars without the chip. People that can afford a remote start usually drive cars with a chip. So the bait worked. They lured me to their store. Now, I ask for a price for a remote start for two vehicles; a 2011 Honda and a 2014 Toyota. Got quoted $800 for both cars for a basic one button alarm. I asked the guy for a discounted price paying cash and two cars. He looked at me as almost to say, "How dare you asked me that" and said no. I canceled my appointment and walked out. Went over to a place in Keyport on Rt. 35. Got a 2 Way Remote Start with LCD screen remotes for both vehicles for a total of $600. Way to go Auto Image, keep in mind your not the only kids on the block. Not only did you lose a customer but I shared my experience on social media and advised to go to the place in Keyport instead of Auto Image. Better prices and more for your money. read more

Great work and not pushy salesmen. Gary has been a pleasure to deal with, I went to get a remote starter installed in my car, and in now way was he pushy on trying to get me to buy a more expensive unit. He explained everything, and even when I asked about getting an extra option, which was $100 more, he was honest in stating that the feature is not very popular and that it can be added on later if I felt I needed it. While waiting to get my car done, I could over hear them talking to new customers, and they took the time to listen and explain details to customers, some other places will try to push you to more expensive units, and not listen to what a customer wants. read more

I've gotten two car starters installed in previous cars and had no issue in the past. This past year, I got a car starter installed on my husband's Nissan Sentra. Auto Image told us 2 hours, they kept his car all day, and when we got there they didn't even give us the extra remote we paid for so we had to leave the car again and come back an hour later after they closed. A week later, my husband's car started constantly dying. He was getting stranded at work over an hour away and countless hours were wasted trying to jump his car almost once a week. Auto Image was NOT helpful, said there was no way it could be the car starter (which was the ONLY change we made to his BRAND new car). I wanted the car starter out of the car asap and Auto Image did not get back to me for weeks. I had to call them almost everyday and FINALLY they took it out (only after I said I would call a lawyer). Fast forward to 8 months later and my husbands brand new battery is shot because of this car starter and needed to be replaced. I would never bring my car here again for any sort of work. They don't seem to care about their customers or their quality of service. read more

Since than the other speaker has failed in the rear and you have to pay to have them evaluate it. Three months ago it was installed and you have to pay the shipping to and from the jl speaker company . I'm so happy that I got to talk to the installer (Gary) before I gave this place any money. While trying to talk to him he took many phone calls even though the owner (Mike) was right next to him. His attitude was that he did not care at all whatsoever about me or my vehicle. I don't know much about car audio so naturally, I asked for some explanations of things (why should I go with x over y, etc.) he didn't care at all to explain anything. I had gotten an estimate from Mike a few weeks earlier for the same work. Gary's prices he gave me that day were about double that.. When asked about how they warranty their work in the event that something they installed stopped working his response was, and I quote: "Well I still get paid for the work that I did." At this point I just left with no intention of ever coming back. Gary single handedly drove me away from this business. It's a shame, because Mike seems like a nice guy. I could just never let someone with Gary's attitude touch my vehicle. read more

So where to begin with this horrible place... I went to get my roof Vinyl-ed on my jeep grand Cherokee... they told me that they are professionals at this and could be done no problem... well called me and told me the job was to hard to do... so i went to pick it up to find out my antenna on the roof and their tools were in my trunk... so I had to install the fishtail antenna myself. I got HIDs installed in this place....as everyone knows on the 2015 this cannot be done because Jeep doesn't allow after market lights to stay on... so for about 3 weeks they never had time to schedule my appointment to "fix" this issue... this took me about 5 different appointments for them to finally tell me there is no solution that this has to go back to stock... oaky fine with me... I should of been refunded my money for HIDs that didn't work properly in... i mean it was dangerous as it was with my headlights and fogs turning off and not having any lights at night until i pulled over to turn my car off and restart my car for it to happen again within 10 min...So they wouldn't give me my money back fro the money on the HIDs gave me a store credit... like i really wanted to use this crappy company again. So i got a stupid credit for HALF what i spent on the lights... then i decided okay let me use this credit on something a "professional in vinyl" can handle... wrapping the chrome around my windows and mirrors. Well lets say the chrome around the windows was still visible, they cut under neath my windows with cuts in the paint, had the gaskets around the windows shredding. The mirrors dried up within 2 days and looked awful so went back and they PATCHED worked my mirrors with 3 different pieces... that's professional? i went back and told them to refund me my money for this awful job that was done. I honestly believe Anyone could of done a better job not even knowing what they are doing. So therefore went back and he told me to schedule another appointment to remove vinyl anyone who knows... its not glued on its adhesive. I took it auto creations down the street and they laughed at how bad the vinyl was done. So after all this and fighting with them and having my car look like crap for weeks, driving without lights at night for month or so. I got 0 money back. I called 5 different car places i've delt with in the past and they all assured me if HIDs or any product didn't work properly because of whatever reason, they would refund my money back and no questions ask.... I would love everyone to stop using this crappy place and someone actually get customer service for the money they are spending and not treated like dog shit. If i can get 10 people to at least not go this place anymore than that's worth my 700 dollar loss I took because they are the most corrupted run business I've ever seen in my 15 years of adding accessories to all my cars...from my Acura TL (03) Acura CL (05) Acura TLS (07) Acura TSX wagon (2012) Jeep Grand Cherokee Altitude (2015). In August of 2015 I took my pickup truck to Auto Image to get a new head unit installed, its a very basic install, something they've done thousands of times, yet some how they managed to crack my dash board, blow out all my interior speakers, and destroy a backup camera they "properly" installed. Oh, and as of today, March 2nd, 2016, I'm still waiting for them to handle the issue. 8 MONTHS OF BEING LIED TO, STOLEN FROM, AND CHEATED!!!! I spoke to Gary, who I'm presuming is the Lead technician, I couldn't really tell because he was so unprofessional. He promised me the world when it came to my truck, which is like a child to me. They were going to install a new head unit, which involved no customization and a back up camera (I tow a lot and the camera helps). I left the truck with them for 2 days, which was the 1st sign of a problem, I mean you can install a head unit at home in half a day and the backup camera, according to Gary, takes less then an hour. After 2 days, I arrive to finally pick up my baby, and everything looked great, I even paid extra for a full detail so I didn't have to do it when I got home. It was on the second day that the speakers started cutting in and out. Spoke to Gary, and he told me they would take care of it for me that day. So I go back to Auto Image, and drop the truck off again. It was at this point that they managed to crack my dashboard while repairing the speakers and never mentioned it to me. They called and told me the work was done so I promptly picked up my truck, speakers still sounding like trash. I called to complain and was told to speak to Trent, the district GM. I called and expressed to him that I wanted to take it to there Edison Branch, and he agreed. Gary had previously told me his JL Certified Tech's worked there and that this would be a would be a good idea as well. Trent and Gary were incredibly rude the whole time we spoke. I take the truck to Edison, and they had my truck for 4 days. They claimed that the module for the head unit needed to be updated. This took 4 days. 4 days to download and update a head unit? You can update your iPhone in 2 hours, so this made no sense to me, but they are certified techs, so I listened to the advice I was given. When I picked up the truck On day 4, The music coming out of the head unit was extremely low, and when I asked about it, I was told, the tech maxed out all settings to blow out the speakers originally, and they adjusted the settings to make sure it didn't happen again. I was not too happy about that, so we start talking about after market speakers, and they said they wanted to handle only one job at a time and wanted to wait to do the speakers. This left me confused, as I was willing to work on the price to install upgraded speakers and they refused. It was then that the crew from Edison told me that East Brunswick's crew had botched the original job, and East Brunswick had cracked my dash in two different locations, one piece was 300 dollars to replace and the other piece they broke was 1200, which they refused to cover even after admitting they broke it. Since then, I have been leaving messages for Trent, the district GM, as I was instructed to do so by East Brunswick and Edison locations. Trent now refuses to assist me in this problem, as he says he will not help anyone who personally he thinks has been rude or inconsiderate to his receptionist, who happens to be a pleasure to talk to, and might be the only person within the company who actually cares. Having spoken to her many many times, I asked if I have ever been rude to her, she told me that I have been nothing but patient and polite. I own a business and I know how to speak to a person, so calling me rude on the phone is not a very good option. Also, the backup camera, was wired improperly and shorted out while I was backing up with a rather large trailer hitched. The never even bothered to cover the wires and left exposed wire rubbing on metal. Talk about a fire and safety hazard!!! At this point, my phone calls go unreturned, my emails go unanswered, and I have lost all faith in this company in regards to them being legitimate and trust worthy. Auto Image is a fraud business, who simply takes a persons hard earned money and tells them to get lost when they crummy job they did backfires on them. read more

I wanted my two front windows tinted on my brand new 2015 Explorer Sport, and the door handle cups protected with 3M film. The job that was advised to take 2 hours took 3:30 and they weren't finished. They started late and I even made an appointment. The door handles looked terrible. My 8 year old could cut these plastic covers with more precision then they did. I was informed by the manager that for them to do it correctly, it would take them 4 hours to redo. "Do it correctly" was what they said. So I wondered what they were doing for the 3:30 hours when they made me wait. Doing it incorrectly I guess. The windows actually turned out fine. The door cups that I made an appointment to get redone hours after they finished, were already bubbling and pealing off. I requested a refund and for them to be removed. After the removal, we noticed that upon installation, with a razor blade they cut a 3" line into the clear coat, along with two other cuts. Their fix was to take my car to a body shop, "perhaps it could be buffed out or repainted". My 50K brand new car that they scratched, they wanted to repaint. My option was to get a total refund or have them take my car for who knows how many more hours or days to fix their mishap. Over all, I think this company doesn't care about you, your valuable time or your car. They have mediocre employees working on your cars. I would look around to find another company who will put in the effort to take care of your car as you are bringing it to them for that very reason. I would give them zero stars if I could. read more
