This place now goes by J's Tire and Auto, and, I assume, is under new management. Very suddenly, my car had all the signs of a bad alternator. As a teenager, my dad had taught me how to do as much work on my car that I could do myself, and I never skim through info or an owner's manual, I READ VERY CAREFULLY. I have an Acura MDX, but it is a 2006, (it was only 3 years old when I bought it). By this time, it had hit 100,000 miles. I had just gotten a brand new battery less than a year ago, had a complete overhaul on the brakes to the tune of $3,700(!), and I had 4 brand new tires put on. The battery and the brakes were done at another auto repair shop that my mother swears by, but I find them to be exorbitantly expensive. I called around and got about 5 quotes for the alternator and J's was the least expensive by about $300. Everywhere else quoted me around $1,000. One of my big fears is someone trying to "sucker" me because I'm a woman. The place my mom swears by wanted $145 just to inspect the car! All it takes is a voltmeter, and I KNEW it was the alternator, so I just wanted it replaced and nothing more. Justin was very friendly, professional, and understood that due to my current circumstances, I couldn't afford anything other than the alternator at the time; I opted to have the belt changed as well because, why not? He didn't try to sell me a service that I didn't need or ask for. I took it in at about 3:00pm, left it overnight, and it was ready around 11:30am the next day as promised. It cost just under $600 total, including warranties. Everyone I encountered there was kind and professional! Also, I live south of Grand Avenue, and the shop is right at the corner of 28th and Grand; very convenient when your car may stop on you. Recently I have been having car trouble and upon researching realized it could have been a number of things. While my boyfriend was taking my car to another shop, it broke down right in front of Auto Lab, so that ended up being our choice for a shop and with many blessings they were able to fix my car easily, quickly, and it was so inexpensive!
