I can't thank these guys enough for helping me out when I had car trouble on my way to visit family over the Labor Day weekend. This is a lengthy but honest review that is worth reading. Our experience demonstrates how unscrupulous Auto Towing is. I really wish I was writing a positive review however I'm in shock over the tactics and deceit this company has taken to get money. My son struck a deer early in the morning (3:00am) and the Trooper investigating the accident stated we needed to get the car off I-64 and he would not allow us to wait for the tow we requested via our roadside assistance provider. The trooper said, "he had a guy" and that's when our headaches started. The tow truck driver showed up and immediately hooked up the car without talking to my son. The driver pulled away leaving my son roadside on I-64 at 3:30 in the morning! No paperwork, no communication on company name, phone number, email, etc. My son called 911 to get the Trooper to come back and get a ride to somewhere nearby. The Trooper had the tow truck driver come back who demanded $500 roadside in order to take my son 1.2 miles to a 7-11. When we refused to pay the $500, the tow truck driver tried to speed off but the Trooper stopped him. Eventually the tow driver gave my son a short 1.2 mile ride. Next, the tow truck driver refused to give us paperwork that he taken possession of the car. Initially he gave us a blank work order with literally nothing on it. We had to argue that we needed the date, time, VIN, vehicle description, etc. documented, as well as his signature. Next, our insurance company informed us that for 10 days this tow company would not return their calls to pick up the car from storage and take it to the repair shop. When they did finally contact Auto Towing, they demanded over $2700 in storage fees or else they would not release the car! In reading multiple reviews, I see a pattern where law enforcement calls for this specific tow company and then they end up charging exorbitant tow and storage fees. I'm convinced that the Trooper we had is in on it and there's a pattern of corruption. read more

Got my car stuck in a ditch and called and they came within 15. Very quick and well knowledgeable service and an amazing tow operator. They came and left within 10 minutes completely worth the money and the quality of the tow avoided a lot of possible damage to the car. I hate leaving a bad review, however this is one that needs to be posted. On Thursday May 4 I had an accident on RT 60 coming over the mountain from Amherst into Beuna Vista VA. I swerved to miss a deer and my front wheel went off the road and damaged my car really bad. The trooper came and called a tow truck and Auto Towing and Repair came to get my car with a roll back. There were no auto parts in the road and my car was not in the ditch. The young man driving the tow truck was very nice and offered to take me to my office about 8 miles away. The next day I asked for the estimate from my insurance company to review because the damages exceeded $14K. I felt this was a bit high. While reviewing the estimate there was a charge from this company for $1,566.94 for towing and "cleanup". At most the truck was at my car 20 minutes. I was not in a ditch and there were no spillage on the road. I called to inquire about this and was told that anytime an officer calls for the towing there is a minimum of $350 per hour. I never did get a clear explanation of the charge. I called my insurance and told them I did not authorize this charge and I was not paying it. Beware! These people will rip you off and you not even know it. Only because the bill went to insurance was this huge amount charged. Feel free to call me. Long story, worth the read. I honestly hate leaving bad reviews, but this was by far the WORST experience I've had with a car needing repair. I understand business's have off days and I'm not perfect either but damn. I hit logging debris on 60, busting my radiator and damaging front bumper. An officer called for a tow, Auto Towing & Repair came around 11:30pm, hooked my car up & gave me their card. Admittedly I was naive to think they would contact me with an estimate. After a week I call them, they seemed confused but said they'd take a look and asked I call the following day, I did, to which they're like "oh yeah" call us again in the morning we'll have looked at it. Unfortunately another day went by before I was able and called them a 3rd time. Kenny asks I call back in just a bit and they'll have looked at it. (I call other mechanics at this point comparing options) call Kenny back and finally get an estimate for $1,500 with used parts including labor, I try to clarify if the estimate includes everything like body work and towing, "yup thats everything". Well cool! I make a few phone calls and discover another mechanic needs to know if my vehicle is a turbo, I call Kenny to see if they can check, he says yes but asks me to call back in a bit to which I finally say no and insist they give me a call. They do call me back later with what I needed -- this is the ONLY time I received a call from the actual business. I tell them I'll keep in touch about getting it fixed. Unfortunately with it being finals week and finding insurance info. I don't call back for another week giving them the green light to make repairs to which they inform me that I need to drop off a deposit first and give me another number. Uhg. Again not the best on my part, a few more days go by before I call this other number and leave a message. (Getting ready for a 10 day trip figuring at this rate it'll take the 10 days to fix it) then by some miracle I answer a random phone call, not the office number they gave me. Nicole informs me that the car is already done and the total will be $3,920!!!! I'm in shock and she just tells me to contact my insurance and file a claim to cover the "storage and recovery fee". confused I ask for a break down of the charges. Apparently they charge $75 a DAY the moment it arrives at their place. She brushes it off saying something like, 'well it would've only been 5 days but it took so long to hear from you, its now 21 days.' After some back and forth about my insurance not covering because I only have liability she asks if I have VA plates, no I have CO plates. "Oh yeah they won't cover it then". wtf. She then asks if I can pay $1,000 or so for storage and recovery. I finally just say I LITERALLY can't pay what you're asking and she offers to talk to someone about the price. Finally in their office Nicole says she was able to talk it down to $750 but also took off the admin fee so it would only be $450 totaling $1,707.75 with tax & repairs. She hands me an invoice for what would've been charged revealing an admin fee for $395, storage fee of $75 for 21 days (Nov 29 the night of the accident - Dec 19 the day I'm picking it up), and a towing/recovery fee of $250 quantified to 3 equaling $750! I ask about the high towing rate and she says that when an officer orders a tow its a standard $750. Right. I pay her and am directed to some driveway with scrap piles a locked garage and no car. With minutes before they close they have 2 mechanics break into the garage to get my car and have to jump start it because the battery is dead. I get OUT of there only to have my vehicle overheat on the way home completely dry of coolant. TOTAL scam. After speaking with Kenny later he tells me that he was reluctant to do the repair since he doesn't do engine type work and intended to do a coolant flush the following day but since I "demanded" to have my car back... oh well. Kenny sounds like an honest man but I would not recommend this company or service. Seems like a poor tow/repair combination with bad business and customer communication. read more

I was towed from an accident on the highway, the people were pretty nice. The whole place seemed kinda hectic and unorganized, it took so long for the receptionist to help me, she was constantly taking personal phone calls and getting interrupted by the people working there. I had given her the key to my car along with all the info required since my car wasn't drivable and had to wait for insurance to take a look at my car. Well turns out either the woman gave away my key to someone else or lost it. I think this is completely ridiculous. They were absolutely no help whatsoever in trying to track the key down that THEY lost, and on top of that the woman had an attitude. I highly recommend going literally anywhere else for a tow. If i had known they were this reckless i would've waited for a different company. If i could give 0 stars i would, seriously take your business somewhere else! read more

I was I81 passing through Lexington VA when I heard a loud bang and lost my brakes. Roadside assistance sent Auto Towing and Repairs. The tow truck driver was very professional and personable. He took us back to the shop and the mechanic Roger immediately took my vehicle in and got to work. My caliper had fallen off and cut my brake line. Roger was somehow able to get all of the parts on a holiday and get me back on the road in less than 2 hours. The best part is even though they could have charged whatever they wanted and I would have paid the price was extremely reasonable. If I lived closer Auto Towing and Repairs would have all of my business. read more

Heroic work. My family was camping on the Blue Ridge Parkway and had driven off for a day hike several miles from our camper and the car would not start and nobody could jump it off. Turned out the starter was bad. This was Sunday on Memorial day weekend many miles from anything. Clyde was our tow truck driver, Roger was the mechanic, and Jimmy, the owner went far and above my expectations. The repair was very time consuming and difficult on my Toyota Sequoia because the exhaust manifold and many other parts had to be removed to access the starter. God provided, and an auto parts store had the right starter. While the car was repaired, Clyde dropped us off at a Holiday Inn. By 1pm on Memorial Day, we had our Sequoia back. All costs came out at $732.73, including towing, shuttling us to the hotel, and the repair. Considering these guys worked very hard for many hours both Sunday and Memorial Day, I felt I came away with a bargain. We were praying for honest people since we were from out of town. We are very grateful for these guys. read more
