What a refreshing change from the rickety Magic Buses with miserable drivers!…read more I recently had to get to Poynton (where?) for an interview and after consulting the GMPTE website, decided that it would be best to take a Baker Bus from Stockport. I didn't really know what I was looking for, but found a brand new yellow and blue bus complete with friendly driver. The driver chatted to many of the passengers and after my A to Z let me down, he helped me find where I had to get off. This bus service (391,392,393) runs from Stockport to Macclesfield and stops in many little places in between. Bakerbus also runs services around Crewe and Stoke. The only problem was that I had to catch the train back, as the next bus wasn't for 2 hours!

It is operated by Virgin Trains with many routes passing through across multiple companies including ATW, who I travelled with today. This station is also used by many other companies including CrossCountry and sees at least 23 trains an hour pass through, being on a central position on the West Coast mainline sees Virgin Trains have routes to the likes of Birmingham, London, Glasgow, Manchester and Edinburgh from here. Trains to Derby, Bristol, Cardiff, Stockport, Liverpool, Chester, Aberdeen and Blackpool (from 2018) also call here. There are 12 platforms here, which is needed for the vast amount of trains that pass through, with newsagents such as Whsmith on both sides, for example Virgin Trains use Platform 11 for Northbound journey's to the likes of Glasgow, North Wales and Liverpool and they then use Platform 5 for Southbound journey's, which is shared by London Midland's service to Birmingham and the Arriva service towards Glasgow. This really is quite a nice, cool station and a central hub for railway travel, which certainly gives Crewe the name as a railway town, it is an old station from the mid 1800's but still is relatively modern and quite a nice station, which deserves 3 stars. Perhaps more facilities at the station to make it more of a nicer place for long distance travel which this station seems to be all about.

If it's just a brew the pumpkin cafe is fine, they accept BITE cards which makes paying train station prices more palatable.

So a quick phone call with our requirements and Kelly said leave it with me, I will get back to as soon as I can. Approx 40 mins later Kelly had came up trumps, same flight, same resort, including baggage and transfers (the other didn't include transfers) and, you've guessed it, a lot cheaper! Kelly dealt with this so professionally, followed it up with e-mails and a lovely touch was a "Thank you" card through the post the following week. I would not hesitate in recommending Kelly for your travel requirements.

Surprisingly we were unable to order espresso coffee but, nonetheless, an excellent and convivial evening for six for less than £300.
