So they have a good reputation with the folks they do standard maintenance and repair work for, so I won't go below 3 stars, but I've tried two times to do business with them and the result is that they are simply not an option. 1. They "do not work on cars older than 2005". This is frankly stupid. It's completely arbitrary as the technology on say, a 2003 cayenne turbo is the same as a 2006 cayenne turbo. This is the case for nearly every generation of German car from that era. Also, many German car enthusiasts have a mix of older and newer cars. Guess you don't need the business! 2. They do "not do modifications". So, a blanket statement indicating no ability to think outside the box or leverage widely known and adopted techniques outside of the service manual. Again, dumb. I realize these are their choices and that's fine, but I also know that a ton of enthusiasts like myself won't want to waste their time on a shop that simply wants to make money on people who really aren't THAT into their cars. read more

I don't trust Autohaus, and thats the bottom line. Placing trust in a mechanic is very important, and Autohaus lost that trust. I should have picked up on this years ago when I simply got a 2nd opinion about a expensive repair, and asked Jesse the counter manager, why there was a price difference. The owner of Autohaus George Rode immediately berated me in the office and without any explanation said "take it or leave it." At that time, I didn't think there were many choices. I spent several thousand dollars over the next several years at Autohaus. After a paying a $2,000 bill, and then they say "the next thing you need to fix is....and the cost will be...." I decided to take this next repair suggestion to Sunset Porsche Beaverton for a 2nd opinion. The repair price was in line with Autohaus, however the guy at Porsche Beaverton told me this particular Autohaus repair would be pretty unusual. Through a chance meeting with the owner of a car dealership in Eugene, I decided to take my Porsche to another qualified Porsche mechanic in Eugene. I'm not divulging the mechanics business, because he has plenty of customers. I'm not going to pit his repair reputation against a mechanics reputation who I no longer trust. I will say he is very qualified, and works on high end sports cars. It's not unusual too see a Lamborghini, Ferrari, or newer Porsche on the racks at any given time. His work area is practically spotless. He won't offer a faded yellow loaner car. I would guess his overhead is a bit lower than on 7th street. You won't deal with a bookkeeper, or a go-between counter manager. The bottom line is I feel he really knows Porsche . He's low pressure, he sometimes offers alternatives to OEM parts, and most importantly...I trust him. This mechanic looked at my Porsche, and agreed with what Sunset Porsche had originally told me. The Autohaus diagnosis was wrong, and the repair for what my Porsche actually needed, was several hundred dollars less. Lesson learned. read more

I've got a 2000 BMW 540i bought new.. less than 100,000 miles and I spoil it to death.. Just spend a good amount of repair funds but well worth the time and effort as it was the airbags not functioning. Jessie and staff took a tough job my normal repair shop avoided and did a great job getting the car back well within the 2-5 day estimate. I'm one of those "Always Take It To The Dealership" type of people. I bought my VW EOS brand new in 2007 and every oil change or issue I've ever had was always dealt with at the dealership. So, when my 40k mile service came due I naturally called them...and was promptly quoted $860.00! I love my little red convertible but that quote was REALLY high, so I decided to call around. I live in Florence so there weren't really any nearby options, so I went on Yelp and saw the rave reviews AutoHaus had gotten. I sent them an email that night around midnight and when I called the next morning only 15 minutes after they opened, their service advisor (Jesse) knew exactly who I was and was already working on my quote. He emailed me back within the hour with a quote of $200 less than the dealership for the exact same service! Sold. When I brought my car in the following Monday, Jesse was there to great me. He was knowledgeable, personable and made me feel extremely comfortable with leaving my car with them. He had told me it would take about 6 to 7 hours and 6.5 hours later he called saying it was ready and we headed right over from VRC. Jesse let me know there were a few things to keep my eye on, but that nothing else required service right now. No scary tactics to get unnecessary repairs? Wonderful! Not only that, but the final cost for the 40k service came in at $80 cheaper than they had initially quoted me!!! The entire experience was amazing and believe me, they've converted this "Only At The Dealership" girl because I will most definately be back not only with my VW, but with my boyfriend's Kia and my mom's Subaru to their sister store Euro-Asian. I brought my car in for 120,000 mile service and to do a trip check. I was told that my tires needed to be replaced immediately. So I took off a day off work the next day so I could get new tires. When I arrived at the tire shop, they looked at the tire and said that they were in perfect condition. No need for new tires and because of this miss information I do not trust anything these guys say and will not take my car back to them. I had the unfortunate opportunity to require Autohaus' services a couple weeks ago when my car refused to start, stranding me in Eugene when I was trying to return from a conference. I had a choice between Autohaus or Sheppard's Volkswagen, and I generally shy away from dealerships for service if at all possible. I checked out Autohaus' website, was impressed and so had AAA drop my car off there. It cause no small stress to just leave my car sitting on the street across from their business on a Saturday night until they opened Monday morning, but I had to be back in Tillamook for work, so there was no way around it. I filled out their information envelope and dropped my key in the key drop, sent up a prayer, and left my baby 2 1/2 hours from home for how long I knew not. Jessie from Autohaus gave me a call on Monday morning. He advised he was going to be checking my car out and would get back to me with an estimate. I don't like feeling this way, but I was pretty much at his/their mercy--I needed my car fixed, they had it, and I wasn't going to get it back until they got it running. They checked it all out, found the problem, remedied it and had it ready for me to pick up (after hours again) the next Friday evening. If I was in Eugene, I would have no reservations about taking my car here for regular service. They seem to be a reputable business, doing their thing for over 30 years now, corporately responsible, etc., etc. Give their website a look and if you have a European car and are in the Eugene area, give them a call and see what they can do for you. read more

Jessie and his crew at Autohaus have always bent over backwards to serve. Murphy's Law seems to dictate when cars break down. While unemployed, they provided some free advice on a radiator valve that saved my bacon. This was right after BMW of Eugene told me to take a walk. "If we aren't doing the repairs, we won't give you advice." Never mind that I'd already spent thousands in their shop. Never again! And when I buy that new Bimmer it won't be at their dealership. More recently, I was headed to California to get married when my 3 Series started stalling and sputtering. Jessie had the car in, fixed, back on the road in 2 days and I was on my way. This review may change once I get a second opinion on my car. Brought it in to check out possible transmission leak. Thankfully they did not find that. My trust is shaken by the fact that they told me my rear brakes are at 50%. I know this is not true, as I got new rear breaks 8 weeks ago. If they are distorting this, what else are they being dishonest about? I will keep my estimate that suggests almost $3000 worth of repairs, and compare it to what the next mechanic tells me. I suspect they are going on the "do not do business with" list. ------Edit------ I wrote the initial review months ago, and felt I should update. I am dropping my review from 3 to 1 star. There was no leak in my car. The issue was that the nipple that drains water condensation from the AC is located above the transmission bell, so on a hot/humid day it appears to be leaking fluid. It is not. I discovered this myself a few weeks after I took my car to Autohaus. While parked at an auto parts shop, where I was buying a replacement headlight, I saw a puddle under my car and a steady stream flowing. This time I researched the matter on the internet and discovered the cause. To be safe I place paper towels under my car for days, and guess what! No unexplained leaking. None of the $3000 worth of repairs they have suggested has become an issue, even after I have put 6,000 additional miles on the car. This despite the fact that they listed them as critical and their employee suggested I not "take it out of town." I have watched each hose and seal they mentioned. Surprise, no leaks. This is opportunism and deceptive business practices at best, and intentionally misleading customers at worst. They will never again get my business, nor that of anyone I have the chance of convincing. -----Edit----- At the risk of coming off as vindictive... I sold this car two days ago. By the time I did, I had added over 11,000 miles to it. None of the issues Autohaus listed ever gave me one problem. No leaks, no broken belts, NOTHING. There is a reason people do not trust mechanics, and my experience with this business is a great example of why. Had Autohaus simply said that these issues may become a problem in the future, I would not have written anything I did. I probably would've used their service again in the future, because they had shot me straight. Instead, they were alarmist and tried to get me to fix things that did not need to be fixed. In the end, my car did have a mechanical breakdown, with the transmission. It never did leak, for the record. The torque converter went and caused a code. When I first brought the car in, it was because some oil tech saw leaking under the car. As I mention before that turned out to be the condenser located over the transmission. That the transmission's internal components would fail was not even on their radar, and in all fairness should not have been. In the end, should Autohaus or another mechanic read this, there was no need to scare me, as none of the things they mentioned were safety related. Had I experienced a problem, there would've been leaking oil and I would've noticed. I respond to fairness, and honesty. Give me that, and I will be a customer for life. read more

I normally hate taking my car ( or in this case my girlfriend's car) to any shop, but Autohaus is pretty awesome. Her headlight went out on her new beetle and from her previous experience, it's a pain in the butt to change. So instead of arguing with her about it I looked up how to change it. Definitely looked like a pain. So I caved and called to set up an appointment. I got there about 15 minutes early and Jesse helped me quickly. He was friendly and professional. The headlight was done in about 30 minutes. It came out to 35 bucks, I was quoted on the phone 45 so I was happy about that. Great same-day service, can't complain one bit. If you have a newer(they don't work on air-cooled) VW check this place out! read more

I am only reluctant to give 5 stars because I have only been here twice. My two visits have been positive so far. The work took a little longer then I had been told and I would encourage them to give daily phone updates on work being done. HOWEVER none of it was a big deal because they provided me with a loner car which goes a long way. Office staff is incredibly nice, it's a clean shop and they did some follow up work on my car for free, which I would halfway expect considering the amount of cash I dropped on servicing my BMW. But It was still a pleasant surprise and a nice client relationship building gesture. Will not hesitate to go back or recommend them to other money sucking luxury ride owners :) read more

They have amazing problem-solving abilities: They found things within minutes that the dealership missed for years.
