My mother purchased a 2003 VW Beetle Convertible that we located at a Cleveland Ave location. The vehicle was purchased through David after a drive over to the Tusc location. We brought up an issue with the transmission that we felt (very harsh shift from 1st to 2nd gear) while we were driving to the Tusc location from the Cleveland Ave location to make the purchase, and David told us that Automax had just replaced the transmission or "did something with it" and we just needed "to drive it a bit because it was sitting for a while." Then said if it continues to just give him a call and he'll get it sorted. Well the issue continued. Called David multiple times, only to be told to call the Tusc Automax location, then get told by that location that I need to take it up with David. All David does is tell me that someone from the Tusc location is supposed to call me. No one ever does. Definitely do not recommend. They lie and scam. Was told the purchase price of the vehicle was $4200 but when we received the title and paperwork it turns out we paid $4500 and David was deceitful about his made up "fees." The vehicle was taken to a VW dealership and we were told it needs a transmission, a catalytic converter, spark/wires/coil pack. BUYER BEWARE! I was looking a car and said that if it passed inspection, I would purchase it. I wanted my mechanic to look it over. He said they wanted a small deposit, like $500, to take it off the lot first. They said if it didn't pass inspection, that they would gladly give me the money back. THEY LIED! I returned the car with a report of 2 leaking head gaskets. I asked for my $500 back, they said only the owned could do that, I had to return the next day. The next day when I returned, he said the card machine wasn't working correctly and that he would send a check. He didn't. Then he stopped answering any texts I sent or if I called, someone stated he wasn't there. I finally had to get my bank involved and after showing them my texts from him that he would give the money back, the bank reversed the charges. He's a liar and a thief. read more

They claim the car has a newer engine, but you POST WHAT MILAGE THE ODOMETER HAS! WHAT DO YOU PUT ON A TITLE? ENGINE MILAGE OR ODOMETER? ODOMETER!! Just trying to suck you in to a terrible buy. This place is a complete rip off and wouldn't suggest anyone to buy a car off them. Sold me a van the rigged up to get off the lot. They willing knew the engine was going to blow and just changed some coil packs to make it off the lot. Then pushed a 2,000 warranty on me saying that any repairs would be covered. When contacted warranty company told me there's nothing they can do because they know it's a preexisting condition. tried contacting them to make it right and are refusing my call. Mdeal a claim with better business bureau and won't e respond to the.This ace is so pathetic even when I asked to put some gas in the va when I bought it said they would but couldn't cause there card kept getting decline. I bought my first vehicle Here thinking it was gonna be the best experience ever. First finance first purchase. It's been a absolute nightmare. Bought a clean jeep wrangler for a lot of money. A light comes on a couple weeks after, his guys tell me to do all this stuff to it I put in about 1200 dollars of work. Doesn't do anything he says he'll pay to get a diagnosis fee I get that done another 150 bucks and he never pays that which is another lie. The timing chains bad, I ask for him to split it with me he said I denied a warranty I was never offered. And tells me it's a learning lesson. And then says he can send me 500 bucks never does and doesn't answer. I never got the registration in the mail we call he said it must of got lost, he forgot to send it. We get it that Monday when the tags are expired. I spend another 1,000 dollars. And having it sit in the shop and not be able to drive a car I'm paying on. I don't recommend getting something here. This was worst experience ever, if you are just getting by and trying get a good car to not break down and didn't have anything to back you up you would be screwed. Especially a car worth almost 30,000 you wouldn't think you would have any problems. read more
