It went from a shop I trusted to one that feels cold and impersonal. During my recent visit, I was told my truck needed work in order to pass inspection that I later found out was not necessary. Unfortunately, it now feels like the kind of place where if you bring your vehicle in, they'll find something wrong. The honest, trustworthy small-town Maine service that kept me coming back for years no longer seems to be there. Sadly, I can no longer recommend them.

They inspected and gave me the option, the brakes had 10,000 miles left on them!! So come back in 10k or if they wanted they were prepared to change them if I wanted to. I'll be back in 10k with high confidence they will treat me right not looking to squeeze all my dollars from me. I'll do a follow up with their work - which I suspect is top notch!

I don't…read moreknow much about mechanics in the area and was unfortunate enough to have my car break down on 302, the day before a long driving trip to Tennessee. As I slowly rolled into a nearby parking lot, I immediately called AAA for a tow (these guys are the local AAA towing company). I didn't know what the issue was but my car was overheating and the engine light had gone on. Arghhhhh!!! It was 4:30 on Sunday and I knew, that in Maine, there are no late night car repair shops (I'm from Ohio where you can find someone to work on your car until midnight). I opened the hood and sure enough the belt to my water pump had broken (later I learned the water pump had gone bad causing the belt to split). So I sat there and waited. A series of events happened that don't pertain to this business, but eventually the tow truck driver showed up (I think his name was Bobby?) and he helped me out. We ended up taking my car to their repair shop. I was going on faith that I would have a good experience and that they could get my car fixed ASAP, the next day, so we could hit the road. I knew nothing about these guys other than they were close local and that "Bobby" worked for them. Well it wasn't quite ASAP, but they did get my car running the next day and they did a great job making sure it was road worthy again. I had a good experience and would return to them for more mechanic needs.

Two weeks later and I hadn't heard back from him so I texted for an update with no response. Again the following week I texted for an update and again no response. On 10/2/24 I again texted and said that I would give him until 5 pm today 10/4/24 to get back to me or I would be giving him an unfavorable review. I even called at 4:35pm and could only leave a voicemail. And still no response. Should you contact him good luck.

Explained everything that was going on, gave me options on repairs and pricing, and finished quickly! Very polite and cleaned up the entire area before leaving. The price? FANTASTIC. As I was an out of towner and desperate to have the repair to be able to drive all the way home, I was worried that this visit (especially a mobile visit) was going to cost a small fortune. His price was completely reasonable and a pleasant surprise! I drove over 10 hours home with NO ISSUES.

Don't be fooled by this place , I have had too many folks and other shops tell of the trickery and games this place will play to get more money out of the customer. They will smile at you while they overcharge you for anything they can. Shop around for a reputable place...in my opinion and many others in the community, this is a bad place to get your vehicle serviced at...period.

One morning, I arrived in Augusta and realized that my car was in need of emergency repairs. The staff at Al's went out of their way to squeeze me in so that I wouldn't be stuck in Augusta overnight. They charged me a fair price and took extra time to explain everything they were doing, even showing me photos. They also drove me to my office while they did the work on my car and picked me up at the end of the day when they were finished. And getting to meet Radar (the adorable Corgi/watchdog) was just the cherry on top of the whole experience. I'm so grateful for the excellent service!

I called this week and asked them to clean my husbands truck, the one our beloved black lab rode in every time it left the driveway it was so coated I. Dog hair you couldn't recognize the seat color, it was so bad I wouldn't ride in it. Smiths did an awesome unbelievable job. I highly recommend this company reasonably priced and quality work
