This place is the epitome of incompetence. I tried using it a few times based on a friend's recommendation, and the recommendation was on price, not quality. Penny pinching got the better of my judgement. I brought my wife's car in 3 times for an alignment, and they didn't do it any of those times, yet they told me it was done. I finally just took it to another shop. I had my truck in there for a simple job and had to take it back twice for work not done, but of course charged for. They're not doing the work and hoping you don't notice. I've never seen any shop that operates this way. Avoid this place at all costs. read more

I ended up at Beth's Garage for a simple inspection sticker. They stated my car was leaking oil and needed this fixed before passing inspection. I set up an appointment to leave my car the following Wednesday. My car sat there until Saturday without being worked on. They had promised to call me the day after dropping her off with an estimate, no call. I ended up going there, there was no estimate ready, George created the estimate and told me they would fix my car the next day, Friday. I call Friday afternoon to remind him that I need a sticker, so I would not have to go back and he tells me, " it's looking like tomorrow". Saturday rolls around, I drive by and my car is still sitting in the same spot in the lot. I needed up taking my keys and breaking my car loose. I trust Bernie's Car Care with the cars my daughters drive for these 5-star reasons. Star #1 - Integrity. Only the work that must be done will be done. When I brought in my 2006 Impala, I was convinced (by another repair shop) the fix would mean replacing the steering rack and for a cost that had me thinking it was time for a new car. Thanks to one of her great mechanics (Bob!) who took the time to diagnose the problem, the actual repair was to replace a power steering hose. This was a 90% savings! Star #2 - Convenience. Bernier's has loaner cars so your life will not be interrupted. I like this because it means the mechanics are able to focus on fixing my car without that "is it done yet" rush. Star #3 - Value and savings. Bernie's stands by the quality of their work and they do the right repair in the right way. Star #4 - Service. From the very beginning, you will be in knowing hands and Beth will honestly earn your business. Beth knows her stuff and wants to help you. When she gives you an estimate, she'll stick by it UNLESS the actual repair is less, which is always a great surprise! Her word, whether coming directly from her or as written on the signage, is her bond. Star #5 - Trust. I trust Beth because she's concerned for my safety, gives me straight-forward information and then works on my behalf to get the work done at the best price. The last time I went to Beth's I gave it 4 stars despite the fact that the mechanic lied about the rating of the tire he sold me because I gave him the benefit of the doubt. Today I went in for a routine inspection. I knew 100% that I had no codes when I went in. They said that my ABS light was on, which it was not as was obvious from a glance at the dash. However, when I left with my van, with none of the many things they said were wrong, the ABS light popped on for the first time for one second, then reset. So they messed with it but the computer immediately righted it and the light has not come back on. So, they are just as much of a scam as are so many in the industry. I will say, I have had multiple great experiences with Dwayne & Beth. Fast to get me in, and always on point. Very fair priced. I am very picky when it comes to having anyone work on my vehicles. Gave this place the benefit of the doubt for 2 years and almost $10,000. Had wheel bearings replaced that I just had to have redone. I had my exhaust replaced, it fell off and dragged down the road less than 100 feet from the garage, then it was the wrong exhaust, and melted a hole in my bumper. Not to mention needing to return for oil changes charged for, but not performed, as well as inspections paid for, with no sticker (noticed months later). Aside from that was told to junk my car due to rusted rockers, then in the next breath told to let them handle it for over $2,000 and a week with my car. Money pit, since switching to Merlin Auto on Forest I have had all the work redone for a fraction of the cost (wheel bearing $245 instead of $700, as well as peace of mind lifetime warranty) and now my car runs great. Some details: - Made an appt, and was given a loaner car for the day while the work was being done. - For another appt, was given a ride after I dropped off my car and then picked up later in the day. - When I needed a fairly big repair, Beth researched parts to save some money on the job. At first I was really excited to bring my truck into Bernies. Based on online reviews I thought they would be great! Regardless of how it has ended I still think Beth is a sweet heart but the quality of their work and standing behind it is not true. My story needs to be heard. I brought my truck in to get the 4x4 fixed. They broke the first part in front of me and said to me "We know how to handle this we'll tell our vendor they sent us a bad part" 1 month later they finally got another part to replace it. I get my truck back and it starts leaking machine oil. And the 4x4 is not working - I won't bore you with details. They charge me to fix the leaking oil and tell me my 4x4 is working (it is not)... At this point I knew I had to seek professional help. So I took my truck to a Toyota dealership and what they found was gut wrenching... Riverside Street Garage, as it is now known, is an excellent place to take your vehicle when it needs an inspection or any repairs. Beth and her crew are super friendly, knowledgeable, professional, and helpful. Their prices are also quite reasonable for repairs as well. I only visit them, no other garage, when my car needs service or a state inspection. I recommend their business and would recommend you take your car to Beth for any services you may need on it. They do not do windshield repair, I do not believe, however. Make sure to call 207-878-0181 to schedule an appointment or to see when you can drop by. Normally they give you a free loaner car to drive while yours is being repaired, but due to the pandemic, I don't believe they provide this at this time. Keep this in mind. Anyway they were able to fix the major problems with my car that I didn't really understand for an amazing price! Not to mention the job they did on it was outstanding, and my 11 year old car now drives like new! read more

One week after the $1000 repairs, I had the same problem, returned to the garage. Initially, Beth thought it was the O2 sensors and she was willing for me to pay her cost and free install. In the conversation, I expressed my dismay with her mark-up. When I told her my results (see first review), she called the parts store and inquired about the plugs and was told the price that day was $2.99, and the wires were $29.99. She said she paid more for the plugs and they charged her $50 for the wires. I told her she needed to check it out because something was drastically wrong. Turned out, my 1st converter was bad. She got the parts store to replace it, both O2 sensors and all new plugs, installed, and test drove at 80 on the highway, and absolutely NO CHARGE to me. I am more than satisfied with the results. This weekend I will test the car on the highway myself. Hopefully, all will be well. I'm hoping they were being straight with me about the parts prices. With making good on the repairs, I'm willing to give them another chance and hope to have a long standing business relationship with them. read more

Firstly, Beth you are amazing. However, I'm sad to say that Beth being an amazing person does not make up for the incompetence in the garage. A few months ago my boyfriend took his Honda for service. Some fluid changes, tire rotation, other maintenance, and a valve adjustment (something they had no idea what it even was). The same day we got the car back, there was this awful noise. Think of putting a coin into an empty soda can and shaking it around. It was too late in the day to bring it back, so we did the next day and the noise was still going strong. We informed them and, puzzled, they looked at the car. After that, they insisted the noise was normal. Lets stop right there. Really? Do you know what an engine sounds like? Should people really get their car fixed by people who have no idea what an engine should and shouldn't sound like? No. So we took the car back and took it to a local shop. They immediately said something was wrong, and come to find out? It was a loose screw. Bouncing around in the engine, inches away from simply destroying it. A screw. You people left a loose screw BOUNCING around in the ENGINE. We told you something was wrong and you looked at us like we were crazy! Explained the "noise" as being normal like it was obvious. I don't think a screw bouncing around in the engine (having caused god knows what damage) is being normal. I'm horrified to think what would've happened if we took advice from the mechanics of Bernie's and just go with it. Bernie's was an inch (literally) away from causing us to loose our car and my boyfriends job because of this. I wanted to write a review sooner then this, but I decided to let it go, even though I was angry, horrified, and baffled. I'm even over how much extra money we had to spend to fix Bernie's mistake. However, today we are still dealing with the repercussions from getting our car touched there. Our last tire rotation was done there, and they left a very strange lug on the wheel. Now that we're getting a new tire, we see the hub that the wheel is on is broken. Summary: Beth is great. Mechanics are nice but I wouldn't be paid to trust my car there. They did maintenance, left a loose screw in the engine, denied anything was wrong, almost destroyed our engine, and broke more things. Unbelievable. read more

Bad experience.the owner was nice but the quality of work was poor.I use to bring all my cars there over the years but found things were not corrected.she is very good at making you feel like she cares about you and your car but.I noticed I was being charged for work that didn't need to be done..maybe the mechanics call but still...then there was some other things that went immediately wrong with my car after just leaving the shop...I tried to give her the benefit but she kept billing me..I changed to her ex husbands shop on main street.so far so good.I love the fact that he doesn't try to fix things that ain't broken and recomends I wait to repair rather than fix it then..he has earned my trust..integrity is hard to find in a car shop..you'll know when you find it...BUT SAD TO SAY THIS SHOP ON RIVERSIDE STREET IS NOT A GOOD CHOICE read more
