We had an engine light go on while leaving Memphis on Tuesday morning of a week-long drive from Toronto to Ajijic, Mexico. Just what we needed, eh? We ended up at this place, and it was the best thing that could have happened to us. First we met a service person, Pam, who clearly understood our dilemma and was very sympathetic. We didn't know if we were going to be able to proceed, have to return to Toronto, or even abandon the car. It was taken in and we had the god fortune to have Steve inspect the car. Absolutely awful experience. I had to take my van to them to get a door handle replaced. The whole process took four trips to the dealership, 10 days, the wrong part ordered, and an extra $1,000 on top of the approved estimate price. Was absolutely shocked that they charged $1000 over the original estimate with no notification of the price change - I had to put it on separate cards just to be able to get out the door. AutoNation will not actually sell a car for the price on their website. 2026 Honda CRV with a MSRP of $37,305 less $3,746 (AutoNation Discount) for a sales price of $33,559 plus a $699 Documentation Fee. I agreed to their terms and tried to purchase per their terms and price. No trade in and cash buyer. A clean purchase per their advertised price. Their Words and Actions do not line up. Today makes day 78 that AutoNation Honda Covington Pike had my van. They are unable to fix the air conditioning, it works intermittently. It still doesn't work. it was under warranty until 9/7/25. -They replaced the condenser 4/14 costing us $940. -They couldn't duplicate the issue in 4/28. -They didn't get the van into the shop for 2 days 6/18, couldn't duplicate the issue. -They didn't have anyone to look at the van on 7/2 due to the holiday weekend. -They replaced the compressor on 7/16 costing us $748. -They replaced something electrical behind the radio 7/23. I took the van back on July 30 for the air not working. Last communication from Honda, Rocky, was 8/15. I got my van back today 10/15 with a cracked windshield. Bonus, the air is still blowing hot. The loaner I was given also got a crack in the windshield that we notified Rocky about on August 15. The new manager, John, said he cannot help me with the refund the old manager, Rocky, told me I would get for the parts they replaced and charged me for that didn't fix the issue. The new manager said he also could not help me with the crack they put in my windshield despite Honda not having vehicle intake photos. read more

My car wouldn't start intermittently. AAA and Goodyear each found the battery and alternator to be okay and recommended Honda diagnostics. The car was 12 days with Honda (7 workdays) and they did not bother to diagnose it. They started the car every day and it cranked strongly. They "were waiting for it to fail" and did no other diagnostics. When I announced to pick up the unrepaired car, they suddenly found a faulty battery. My battery is 8 months old and still on warranty and was cheaper than what Honda wanted for a new one. Do they think they can take advantage of a woman on car issues? I picked up the car and took it to a small local shop. They diagnosed a faulty starter and repaired it the next day. read more

My son went here today at 11:30 to have his battery tested and it's 2:15 and he is still waiting. i totally understand that others were there before him but it should not take this long on a battery. I sent him there only because we didn't know for sure it was the battery. He will never use them again. The dealership we use would have had him out within 45 minutes, they have mechanics that only do small things like this so people don't have to spend half a day there! I went in to have my oil changed and tires check since tire pressure light was on.I leave dealership and drive home approximately 8 miles away and did not drive my car anymore that day. The next morning as I am pulling out my drive way I hear a strange sound. Get out the car and my tire is halfway off the rim. I immediately call the dealership and service manage claims there are no camera angles inside the work bay and the technician stated they did nothing to the tires. I stated of course he's not going to admit he made a mistake. The manger stated my wheels were good when I left and no evidence they cause the problem with my tire. I am almost certain the technician accidentally left the lugs nuts off or didn't properly tighten them. read more

I sent my 80 year old mother with her "certified used" 2015 Honda Civic she purchased from the same lot in May. She drives a total of maybe 100 miles a week. They convinced her she needed $500 in Brake, Transmission, and Fuel service, all of which should have been done before she even purchased the car since it was "certified used." She is on a fixed income and they didn't even offer a discount for all the services they scammed her for. I've never had a problem with them when taking my vehicle in for service. I have been fighting with this center for a month and a half about a new car I ordered with a date of delivery for one and a half months ago. I have been told since then that the car is "pending" delivery and they don't know when it will arrive. I have spoken to the sales manager and the general manager for this location with them saying that the car would be at the store in a week. This has been going on for a month. I took my car in for service for 16,000 miles. oil change and tire rotation and check fluids. I did not sign off on the service. I stayed and waited for 2 hours. The intake man came to get me when finished. I was shocked at the price. $440. He never once told me or asked me to do the changing of several filters and adding brake fluid. I expressed my concerns over the price . the intake man said he will give me a free oil change for next time .How about reducing the charges. a rep called me on Monday to see how my experience was. Pulled off right away and called a tow truck. Had it towed to AutoNation Honda in Memphis TN on Covington Pike. Was told they would get to it in the morning. Hired a car to take us to a hotel. The next morning Honda called to tell us we needed a serpentine belt and a water pump, as well as spark plugs. We authorized the work. They had to order the water pump which wouldn't be in until the next day. Now a two day stay in the hotel. The next day we were told they were starting on it and would see if there was additional damage to vehicle after taking things apart. We checked out of hotel and got another car to take us back to the dealer. Sat there for 6 hours. We asked whether there was additional damage and were told that no, everything was good to go. Paying nearly $2000 for the serpentine belt, water pump, spark plugs and labor. Now out $2500 with the repair, tow and hotel. We left, and drove about an hour when the car started running rough, all emergency lights came on the dash, and white smoke started coming out the exhaust. Pulled over in a rest area out in the sticks. Now it was after hours and couldn't call the dealer. Called another tow truck and had it towed to Murfreesboro TN....our destination. That tow cost $800. Left it at Murfreesboro Honda overnight with our key in the box, and a note regarding the issue. The next morning they called to tell us we either needed a new engine costing $8000 or $5000 worth of repairs. Our car is a 2014 Honda CRV, and only has 42,000 miles on it. First of all it's unbelievable that these issues would happen on a car with such low mileage, but the fact that the mechanic who repaired it obviously did not perform all tests possible to assure us that there was nothing else going on, beyond the performed repairs, I cannot even fathom. Called AutoNation Honda, on Covington Pike, to complain and were told that we can't expect them to drive it for an extended period of time to see if there's an issue. They just drove it around the block. We are furious. I would never recommend this AutoNation Honda, and I'm not even sure if I'd ever recommend a Honda! UPDATE.....have to get a new engine! Turns out the damage done to the engine is beyond repair. If that mechanic had done his job properly, I believe we wouldn't have had this issue and incured another $8000 in costs. I'm a senior citizen and this was my second used car purchase from AutoNation on Covington Pike and will be my last. I live 165 miles from Memphis so when inquiring about the vehicle via email I got vague responses from a salesperson who hadn't read my emailed questions. When I didn't get my questions answered I emailed the GM who was very responsive, apologized and got the sales manager to respond to me. I then drove to Memphis. During the sale all went well but my fault that I didn't get a better inspection of the vehicle and as a result I've had to spend more than $1k to have the alternator and power steering pump replaced immediately. read more

Overall, a positive experience in the purchase of a 2012 Honda CR-V. On the plus side: Our salesman was a genuinely nice guy, very friendly and personable. The dealership was willing to negotiate, and we were able to agree on a price that I feel is fair. On the down side: Our salesman seemed a bit less than fully informed about certain questions we had, both about services available at the dealership, and about the vehicle in general. There were also a few communication errors due to their not checking email regularly, and responding in a timely manner. My biggest complaint was that timely-ness in taking care of me as a customer did not seem to be a high priority. When I first arrived to shop and test drive, I had to wait for several minutes before anyone even acknowledged that I was there, and offered to help me. When we came back to buy the car, again there was a general impression of being less than completely organized, ending with being made to wait for almost an hour before being able to see the agent who handles the closing paperwork. That being said, these were relatively minor annoyances, as reflected by the fact that we did buy the car, and I'm giving them four out of five stars. Not a perfect experience, but generally acceptable. To the people at AutoNation - you can afford to upgrade your artificial sweetener for your coffee. The pink stuff SUCKS, and not everyone can use real sugar. It's the little things..... read more

They're definitely worried about just making a sale and not the customer. Miscommunication between employees on certain things. Had to follow up on some closing items about 2-3 times due to lack of communication. Was promised a check for window tinting and have been going back and forth for about 3 weeks about it. Trey Wilson informed me the check was ready and I showed up within 30 minutes to pick it up and no one had recollection of what I was talking about so he lied. I keep being asked for my drivers license and proof of residence to be mailed my tags when this information was given and discussed up front. Take your business elsewhere. read more

I was extremely disappointed in my experience at the Covington Pike Honda, Memphis TN location today. I took a family member to buy a vehicle today. The staff was very blase, nonchalant and did not seem interested one bit at all and selling a vehicle. Myself and my family member we're very straightforward and upfront the salesperson and informed him of exactly what we wanted and we're looking for. Unfortunately as per the salesperson the manager was unwilling to give us what we wanted. All we wanted with a very simple all inclusive purchase price for a specific make and model, Honda HR-V. For reasons unbeknownst are sales after multiple requests for a firm number no one at the dealership would honor our request. We left very unhappy and extremely dissatisfied. This was definitely at the loss to AutoNation because in fact we went to another Honda dealership locally here in Memphis, Tennessee ( not part of the AutoNation conglomerate) and they were more than happy to provide us with what we asked and give us any additional information that arose during the process. A vehicle was purchased today at the second dealership we went to. AutoNation on Covington Pike specifically the Honda dealership you really need to clean up your act. The salesperson we dealt with looked rather unkempt and had a very bad breath. To the point where we had to crack the window in the vehicle on the test drive. The upper management could not even give us a simple, very simple request. We were the only customers at this dealership at the point in time we were there. We drove a very short distance to the other dealership about 15 minutes away and it was absolutely jam-packed full of customers. AutoNation, Covington Pike Memphis Tennessee you're definitely losing a ton of business. I Know Myself nor any of my family members will ever return to any AutoNation owned dealership. Their service center sucks. Do not take your car there because they will overcharge you and add random $51 "miscellaneous" charges. Went in to get my A/C fixed because it wasn't cooling and it cost me $522. The service rep. did not go over the multi-point inspection sheet with me EVEN THOUGH I had just spent a ton of money with little to no explanation as to why AND there were 3 areas on the checklist that were red and "required immediate attention" and would cost $500 to fix. I did not think there was anything wrong with the areas and when I took it into a different dealership that I have used for years with no trouble a few weeks later for an oil change, they did a multi-point inspection and did not mark any of those areas off. They replaced my tires and there was no $51 miscellaneous charge, either (even though the service rep at Covington Pike had said it was a "standard" charge). Covington Pike just wants to scam you for more money. Do NOT bring you car there for service. read more

Autonation Honda sold me four new tires, and I had the front and rear end aligned at the same town in September. Three months later, I was in Knoxville for Christmas, and when I left to go home, it was raining and my car would barely stay on the road. The back tires were completely bald. I stopped at Costco and bought two new back tires and with labor cost $480. The next day I took the defective tires back to the dealership, and the said they would conduct an investigation. Ten weeks later they gave me a check for $234. I asked them to compensate me for the alignment and labor plus the cost of having to buy new tires to get home safely. During the ten weeks I waited for compensation, they didn't return most of my calls, made promises they didn't keep, and flat out lied to me about what was going on. I am 72 years old and a retired schoolteacher, and I depend on service people to be honest and keep me safe on the road. Autonation Honda would rather lose a customer than pay the compensation this customer is due. read more

I recently had the engine replaced on a 2011 Honda Accord by AutoNation Honda. State Farm had totaled the car, but I bought it back State Farm and had AutoNation Honda replace the engine. I am a Louisiana resident and the car now requires a Salvage title. The Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles requires the rebuilder to sign a document stating that they have replaced the engine. This is an official state document required by the DMV of Louisiana. No representative of AutoNation will sign this document. What does this say about the quality of work performed by the service department of AutoNation? I am now in a nightmarish situation where I cannot obtain a title for the car. What reputable shop would not be willing to sign a document acknowledging that they had done the work? They also don't even have the courtesy to return my phone calls. read more

I took my CR-V in for a recall on the air bag. The first trip, I was told the parts were there. Two hours of waiting on the day of my appointment only to be told the part had to be ordered. A week & a half later, another 2 hours waiting but it was repaired. Then a checklist is put in front of me & the service guy tells me all my fluids (oil, transmission, water, brake, etc.) need changed. My tires are "poor". I take it to Gateway where I've been a loyal customer for 10 years. I had an oil change there 5 months ago. I bought new tires & had new brakes installed 2 years ago. Gateway checked everything on Honda's list & showed me that nothing needed to be done. I don't appreciate being taken advantage of just because I am a woman. I'm not your average woman either. I was a mechanic before women were considered to be such. I'm true to Honda; my last CR-V saved my life. But I'm not a fan of their service department's tactics. read more
