We could not have enjoyed Agriturismo La Terra more. For starters it was not that hard to get to, an hour train ride from Rome to Orvietto and then a scenic 1 hour drive from Orvietto to the Farm/Hotel. It is set on a ridgeline surrounded by vineyards and durum wheat fields. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and a pretty good size for Europe, especially for the price. See the website for their various rooms and prices. The experience began with a warm welcome from Paulo and his wife who gave us a tour of their working farm. They grow a variety of herbs and vegetables that they use to prepare all their meals on the farm. The farm is also scattered with fruit trees including peaches, apples, olives, and our favorite, the apricots. We must have snacked on a dozen of them for free, over the 3 days. All three meals are available prepared fresh from the farms kitchen, by Paulo, his wife and his Grandmother. Breakfast and Lunch both cost 10 euro. Dinners are 25 euro, which includes wine. Our dinners were the highlight of our stay after touring the hill towns of inner Tuscany during the day. If you help them prepare dinner you get 5 euros discounted off your bill. So my wife and I essentially got paid to take a cooking class that turned out to be in her short description "a life's experience". We were taught to make handmade ravioli by an Italian Grandma in an open air kitchen, with the Tuscan sun setting over the hills, along with garlic oil chicken, fresh salad, and chocolate cake. Dinner is shared in farmhouse dinning room with our hosts and the other guests of the agriturismo. Dinner took over 3 hours, but it was wonderful to slowly enjoy each dish while talking in a beautiful setting with people from a variety of Western European countries. It made for wonderful discussion and sharing of stories. Our time at La Terra was special and we will never forget it. They even did our laundry for free. Not bad for 80 euros a night.

The staff was extremely friendly and very professional (they stayed up untill very late that night with the drinks and bites) and what I understand from the groom, they helped out quite a lot in finding musicians, photographers, etc. (which were all top of the bill). Without a doubt, I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking to organize a wedding party or a big event. The area is superb, it offers classical Tuscan scenery, but it not nearly as touristic as anything you'd find to the north or the south. The pool is good, rooms a are spacious and clean, and the background scenery is unparalleled really. 5-stars to the max.

The grounds and the scenery are beautiful. The pool was great and the layout of the space made the perfect wedding venue. Being that this is an "agriturismo" many of the food and drinks they provided were sourced from the local farm. (The wine was excellent and the olive oil was to die for.)

We came here in March with the goal of visiting Civita de Bagnoregio. We read a blog online that said that at our arrival to Stazione Orvieto we would find taxis that could takes us to Bagnoregio. Well, that was not the case because March is considered low season and the station was pretty much empty, so keep that in mind next time you visit Orvieto. With that aside, Orvieto's station has a pretty nice café/store where you can purchase souvenirs, wine and other stuff before getting your next train. They also have one ATM near the train rails where you can withdraw some cash before moving on with your trip. People here are very welcoming, but don't expect them to speak English to you. There is a great wine section and coffee is made-to-order. There is a real person in the Trenitalia ticket booth. Across the street is the funicular to take you up the hill to the old town of beautiful Orvieto. The tickets are good for 1:30.
