NEGATIVE STARS IF I COULD. I've had two separate issues at this specific auto zone. They are incredibly disorganized, nobody knows where anything is, and are very unhelpful. My first issue was when I tried to order a lug nut wrench from them. I placed an order to pick it up and when I got there the employee says that they don't have it in stock and he couldn't even issue me a refund or help me in any way, he simply told me to reach out to AutoZones online help because for some reason the people running the actual autozone couldn't do anything. My next issue was the same thing. I saw online that they had these specific headlights in stock and it said I could pick them up today. This time I didn't order ahead based on my previous experience. I checked around for the headlights, again this place is super disorganized with stuff just thrown everywhere and resealed packages everywhere. I asked for help because this place was such a mess and the woman couldn't help me. I showed her their own website that showed that they did in fact have my item in stock but she simply told me that whatever they have would be sitting in the clutter in front of me and she basically told me she doesn't know. It also doesn't help that people who are supposed to be helping you, don't even speak English. You can only get so far when people just tell you "I don't know" and just mumble to get you out the door because apparently they don't like receiving business. So in short, nobody knows anything here, if you don't know what your looking for they probably won't be able to help you unless your asking for a manager or something so definitely save yourself and don't waste your time here. read more

I wish they made negative stars cause this place would get it. I came cause all I wanted was regular washer fluid. The blue washer fluid was on the bottom shelf, then the orange rain -x, then the light green prestone. The sales guy was hesitant in grabbing the one I wanted but grabbed the most expensive, prestone. I shook my hand and said I said blue. He didn't say anything, rang up the sale and that's it. Not even a sorry or anything. I was so mad and upset. I wanted to say something but I didn't. I didn't want to hear anything, mind you I am a service director for 4 dealerships. After annoyance of battery dying out, roadside jump starting and then going to White Plains AutoZone and having terrible service. We did called this autozone and drove down from White Plains to get battery replaced just in nick of time around 9 on Sunday and were pleased that they replaced it without any nuisance like we faced at White Plains. I asked the person behind the register if there was some sort of cutting tool that would allow me to cut something off of the car. He tried to upsell me a hacksaw and some sort of hot cutting tool. I tell him that I need something to grip and that it was just a piece hanging from the car. He proceeds to tell me that he's speaking plain English and that he understood that there is clearly something wrong with my car and that I had the wrong tires for my car. At no time was his language proficiency called into question. I cannot believe how rude he was. I let him know that he was rude and he states that it was my opinion...the opinion that counts if you are going to sell someone something, right?! No, young man, you are an asshole! If you don't like your job, perhaps, not a people person, find another place to work. Since you want to speak about your use of the English language, use of words like "clearly" and "obviously" should be left out of your English language proficiency when you deal with a consumer. It is condescending and wholly unnecessary. Just so that you know him when you see him, it was a Latin gentleman with high and lowlights in his long hair that was tied back with a pony holder that day. He was working at the first register coming in the door about 11 am on May 1, 2021. Since they placed me on hold only to put that guy on the phone and pretend that a manager was not there, I had to do the Yelp review. From what I read, I wish that I saw the reviews before venturing to this particular Autozone. Oh, and I will be sending this to corporate since the young gentleman thought that he'd explain what a corporation was as well. For you, I hope that you know what employment at will means. You lack people skills and the milk of human kindness. At the very least, you need to be retrained. After all of this, a mechanic down the road screwed the pieces back up gratis. read more

This review is long overdue. On July 7th I went to the Hackensack AutoZone to see if I could get my battery tested. I told the gentleman I could not turn off my car due to it not being able to start without jumper cables. The gentleman said they would not be able to jump my car so they would not be able to do any test. I wanted to make sure it was my battery that was the problem and not something else. I asked if another AutoZone would be able to help me, he said no that he recommended I go to Pep Boys near by. Instead I called the Fair Lawn AutoZone anyways and explained my situation. Krystal said to come on over and that she could help me. She was so upset at the experience I went through at Hackensack that she called them and asked why they couldn't help me and how come she could but they couldn't. She gave 110% customer service! She went above and beyond. I will no longer go to Hackensack since this was the second bad experience I had with them. I will forever go to Fair Lawn! ! I am so grateful for Krystal helping me and to Michael who changed my battery for me. Michael was amazing as well while doing the battery & alternator tests and changing my battery so quick. On top of that they gave me a 20% discount for my hassle. Go to the Fair Lawn location for the nicest staff and amazing customer service!! read more

About a week ago Stopped in to charge my girlfriends car battery told me and hour, no big deal went to go get a bite to eat came back and the guy went in the back and gave me the battery . Went in for some shammies when i got back to my car i had a flat tire. Nbd but when i went to change it i couldn't get one of the lug-nuts off. If you don't know the model number of your oil or air filter, then you're going to have to get the attention of an associate to look it up for you. I've been to other AutoZones where they either provide books or an LCD menu where you can look up the part you need on your own. That's convenient. Having to wait in line just to find a part number is not. Let's get it together... read more

I got a ticket for no brake-lights on a Sunday and had 24 hours to get it dismissed. All three lights were out. Luckily, Sam G who works here is a real pro. Since all three lights were out, it was hard to diagnose the problem. First we checked the brake switch, then the fuses, and finally made our way to the actual lights. The latter did the trick, and I drove out of there with a fully functioning automobile. Honestly, I would have been completely lost without Sam. He guided me through the entire process, in the pouring rain, exhibiting exceptional customer service. I was even shown how to change the lights, which is rather easy after you do it once, but rather daunting the first time. I saved myself a trip to the mechanic and some hard earned cash that NYS would have vultured. I recommend this Autozone to anyone and everyone! read more

This was my first visit to Autozone in Hackensack. My car remotes had both died, and I had been procrastinating for 1 month before changing the batteries. I finally went to Autozone, and I approached a busy employee, named MartinT. He was fixing a part, and I asked him if he could help me change my remotes. I know Autozones sell remote batteries, but they usually do not change the remotes. He stopped what he was doing, and changed both my remotes right away. He rang me up, and I was out of the place in less than 5 minutes. I know this employee, Martin T, probably do not get credit for helping costumers nor does he get praise for his job. If he ever present to the local ER, I will definitely make sure he is attended to right away, just like he tended to me immediately. I'm sorry, but I've been here a total of 3 times. Each time has been worst then the other. First time I came here, I walk in at like 10am, 1 cashier open and about 11 people waiting on line. Why? One cashier decides to go outside and test someone's alternator. I'm sorry, I know he was there first, but help the other customers first. The manager had to call him back inside saying, listen... When there is this many people, don't leave one register open. Second visit, I needed a light bulb for the inside of my car. Anyhow, they had 1 pack left, but someone actually took one of the bulbs out and replaced it with an old burnt out black bulb. I go up to the woman and explain the situation. I said, hi. I need this bulb, but someone tore the package open and took a bulb out. She said, okay... If you want it, I'm still gonna have to charge you full price. I said... Why? I'm suppose to get 2, but I'm only getting 1. She said, I don't know what to tell you. I said, can you ask the manager if he can give me a break on the package since its the only pack you have and it's missing a bulb. Manager looks at the pack and just gives it to me. And the last time I went there, I needed parts for my car. I was doing a tune up. Of course they not only gave me the wrong parts, but I got charged extra for something I didn't even have in the bag! I needed a halogen headlight bulb installed...a ten minute job according to You Tube. I wanted it installed since it required a special wrench to get access. First I hit Teterboro Jeep. They told me that I needed a headlight housing installed for $145. But they were backed up today. Pep Boys had a 3 hour wait although there were four empty bays with mechanics milling around. I went across the street to Auto Zone. In ten minutes they cheerfully installed the bulb, tested the light and thanked me for coming in.All for$24.99. I gave the helpful employee a $10. tip. On the evening of 9/21, I went to Autozone in Hackensack because my battery light was on and I wanted to make sure it was my battery, not my alternator. I also needed wiper blades so I went inside, looked up the correct blades and waited on line to pay for them as well as pick up a battery and request that they swap the batteries and test my old battery. I waited in line at least 15 minutes as the store was busy and a lot of other people needed similar assistance outside testing batteries etc. I was understanding of this. The cashier then started yelling for anyone who is just paying to come up to her and be checked out. I stayed put while everyone in line went to pay and I waited back. Finally I'm the only person left in line and I walk up to pay for the blades and request the battery and she got nasty and told me to step to the side. Another employee walked in and asked to assist me so I stepped forward to pay and make my request, specifically requesting that he test the battery. He flat out responded that he could not help me. I told him I'd leave then bc I didn't want to spend $130 on a new battery if it's not the battery at all. He responded by acting like I was impatient by saying "you can't wait 20 minutes?" Which he hadn't even brought up before. I explained that I have no problem waiting but as he previous stated, if he could not help me then I'd go elsewhere. So he explained to me that he'd be doing me a big favor by swapping out the batteries once his shift ended. Fine. Again I reminded him about testing the battery. I waited 25 minutes and when he came out he swapped them out for me and again I asked that he test the battery. He informed me that the battery light turned off so that means that it was the battery and there was no need to test it. I am not clueless about my vehicles and I know that resetting the battery will typically turn any lights off on the dash but they will come back after driving a few miles so I mentioned this and he told me it doesn't apply with the battery itself. Great ok problem solved right? I even tipped him for his "inconvenience". Low and behold, the light came back on the next day 9/22 while I was leaving work a few miles from home. I called the store to complain and see if I could get my old battery back because I had just wasted $130 as I was trying to avoid in the first place. They stated the old battery was already sent out but that I could call customer service. They told me to call 18002886966. I called and it is only a recording which refers you to call their regional office or tells you where the nearest location is. So I then called the regional office number 9083546991 which was closed already. I arranged with my boyfriend to bring my car to the mechanic for the alternator later the next day but on my way to work the next day, my power steering locked up on the highway and the car died as soon as I got to the parking lot. I had to have my car towed to the mechanic and when my car was brought to the shop, my mechanic had reminded me that the battery was not old enough to be bad as he had replaced it last but that it was in fact the alternator. So I was even more annoyed that had the employee tested the battery as I had requested more than THREE times, I wouldn't have spent the money or gone through all this. I called the regional office number again to see what they could do about the old battery they had and the $130 I spent bc their employee had informed me that it WAS the old battery when in fact it WAS NOT but he refused to test it. The woman who answered the regional office number took my information and listened to the situation, told me she was sending an email and that I should expect a call back that day. I have called back a couple times since and left messages but have NOT received a call back as of today 10/12 So you scam me into paying for a battery I didn't need then ignore my calls and hope I forget about it?? I will NEVER visit another Autozone again. Not a single person I interacted with was professional or courteous or even willing to do their job. What a disgrace! read more

Annoyed at this place ... I went to auto zone to get my battery tested and the fellow I asked to test my battery didn't seem like he wanted too. We proceeded outside to my car he hooked up the tester to my battery and told me the battery in my vehicle was no good. I asked him the price range for a new one, he replied 120 and up. I advised him I would come back later in the week to possibly get a new one. Walking back into the store I mentioned to him that I needed to get new blades for my windshield wipers. Instead of trying to help me he looked at me and walked away. I was shocked there were 4 workers there and all of them were standing around at the register. As a customer service representative for a car insurance company. Customer service is very important and if you show you don't care to help the customers paying your salary- why would anyone want to support the business you work for? I was unsatisfied with the service I received yesterday July 30, 2016. I went to the Hackensack store to get a stereo installation kit for my 2001 Chevy Malibu and the gentleman who was at the counter didn't even ask me for my make or model of car he just pointed where in the store I can find it. To begin with I don't know anything about cars or installing a radio so I really needed the help. One of the other associates had to tell him what he needed to do because it was becoming very apparent that he didn't feel like doing any work that day (or at least that's how it seemed). Then a different associate came up and took over the job that the first guy was doing. She got the part and I was satisfied, however it was the wrong kit for my car. Returning it wasn't an issue, I ended up going to Pep Boys for the correct kit because Autozone didn't have it in stock. Later on that day I needed an additional wiring harness and I called the same store to find out if they have it in stock and a different gentleman on the phone told me it wasn't in stock. My friend and I went to the store and found it. We ended up with the same gentleman that I spoke to. We asked him how come he told us it wasn't in stock and his response was "sometimes you just have to come in and look for yourself". I will never shop at this store again. If this is the training you are giving your associates then maybe you guys need to revamp ur training for them. Maybe even have someone in corporate go on Undercover Boss at this store and see what really happens there. read more
