I am 80 years old and bought two garage button openers (Genie Univ. 4 button model GUATR-R) from AutoZone mundelein for $80 for both which I am told was excessive could have bought a cheaper ones elsewhere. The problem is I had to get someone to come out and help me connect them to my garage system and that took a long time. Put the second one away just use the first one. when I did go to use the second one it did not work. Went back to AutoZone explained and asked just before an exchange. They refused because there was a 90-day return policy and I was 2 days late. So I told them I bought it through my freedom credit card which doubles warranty. They again refused that it has no warranty on the product. ..... So they are selling a piece of junk which has no warranty for a high price. I cannot afford to buy another one for the $40 so I am out of luck thanks a lot AutoZone. I have been buying auto parts at this MUNDELEIN, IL, #2675 store since it opened years ago, and I always get good and courteous service and affordable prices. Today I called them before coming in and spoke to their manager, Liz, and asked if I might use the turn signal bulb of the same exact shape and size but a dif. number, and she explained that the dif. number means that - even at the same size and shape - the bulb has different internal filament(s) that may negatively affect the wiring, and it made a perfect sense. I was impressed at how this young girl was actually a competent and confident professional and a store manager. Way to go Liz! Thanks! read more

This is long, but it's worth reading it... I had a problem with my wife's 2013 Highlander after I replaced the brake pads by myself. Come to find out that the right rear caliper pin had seized and so, I ordered a whole new caliper. Why? Because you might as well since the whole thing is taken apart. I ordered the replacement online- They carried the only one, and when I came back to replace, the replacement assembly had a slight manufactured deviant which was not on the original. Not the fault of the employees or the manager working there. Even they double checked and it was a match in their database. Carlos the manager then realized, he could get the pin out. He took a burner, and needle nose vice grips and outside in the cold, he and I worked on the original caliper to set it free. After 10 - 20 min he did break it loose, got the pin out, and realized that the rubber boot that protects the pin was the problem. So, he credited the purchase of the caliper, charged me for the boot ($3.00) and sent me on my way. The caliper worked but I realized I didn't get the paperwork for the credit when I arrived home. I called spoke to Carlos, and either I could come back in- I live 40 min away, so he TEXTED me and my wife (using his own phone) the copy of the receipt!! He also asked me about how it went with the replacement, what to do and he truly cared about the whole ordeal, and gave me some valuable pointers. After that, I was usher him a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to him and his family. I wish I could do more for him and as promised, I'd write this review. Carlos went above and beyond what he needed to do to help me. I realized that right away, so the least I could do is write this review. What a phenomenal guy you have working there, and I hope management realizes what type of person they hired. He's worth his weight 10 times over, and this guy deserves a big raise on his next review in my opinion. He helped out a "typical customer", and in return, he earned my complete respect and I'm going back to him when I'm in need of things from Autozone. Management could learn a few things from this guy. Called around and needed needed parts for a Rear brake job for a 2007 Prius. Best price after coupon since I did not have the luxury of waiting until Monday to order for rom Rock Auto. At 11:30 pm after taking apart the brakes, when installing the new rear cylinders ($17.99 ) realized that there were 2-screws to attach to the wheel plate vs. 1-screw on the old cylinder. Work stopped immediately. Got the new correct cylinders from O'Reilly's the next day. When I returned the INCORRECT cylinders I was given the "oh we're sorry" "I can order you the correct Cylinders?" Then refunded $13.99 per Cylinder ($4 less per cylinder for a loss of $8 for AutoZone's bad information. Explanation: "you bought 5 items, $20 discount was prorated to $12. The bill was 161.xx and coupon was $20 off a purchase of $100 or more. Less the $36 for the cylinders, I still spent $125 after coupon which according to the terms of the couupon should have left the discount intact. SHADY! Won't be back. Either Rock Auto or O'Reilly's. Their mistake cost me $8 improper return, a day extra off work and 2-$22 UBER rides. Thoroughly disappointed. I am a Rewards Club member that won't be back. Shady! read more

At around 11:00am, Tuesday, July 28th, after not having received a promised earlier (from Monday night, July 27th) call when a part would arrive, I arrive at AZ. Asked if they could look up a part (35364), they found one in stock. I said, "should be the one you guys ordered for me last night". It was. An Employee could not find the part on the shelf. Asst Mgr K found it checked in, but sitting at a register along with a few other boxes, apparently not yet shelved. AM K looked in the box, found the part - supposedly an Edcor AC/Heater fan blower motor (w/o cage) for a Toyota. He proceeded to show me how to push the tab into the included Molex plug, (I know how, but whatever) I remarked that polarity was important, we both then tried removing the pin now seated firmly in the plug. I managed to pull it loose easily, with a small Allen driver. After some time, probably an hour in the parking lot, having been loaned - for on premise use only - a ratchet/driver set, I gave up (mostly due to the 90 degree heat! I returned the tools asap. I drove to other needed places, the part in the trunk, came back after finding same part, but PLUS cage, in stock (at Car Quest), but for $117.00 ( I thought that was bad until I priced the Toyota Dealer OEM, 242.00 with tax! NOT installed). I will most likely buy from them - why? I needed the cage fan, as well. The Edcor and VDO did not come with a cage fan (using the proved pics on the ordering system and web) - tried pulling off the old, not a good time, just really rusted on that shaft. Another brand was available SO only, 80.00 I THOUGHT I didnt want to wait. Upon returning to the Mundelein AZ store at around 4pm, I presented the Edcor part to the same Employee that earlier could not find this part on the shelf. Upon quick exam of the part he stated: "Oh, ya, I saw you earlier in here shaving this down." he Pointed to the drive shaft, where I noticed, again, a rather poor attempt by some shop to shave more key-way along the length of the shaft - in order to fit a cage fan, obviously.. I said "the drive shaft? I shaved it down? You think I did that while at the counter or outside? Really? With a ratchet set? You have to be fucking kidding me!", He said, "That isnt a drive shaft and, Yes, and also , this isnt an Edcor part". The box said Edcor, I wouldnt be able to tell the difference - AT THAT TIME. I said, "Ya, that is the part that came in the box.". He says, "This is yours". I say, "you are crazy". He says, "Do have the other part?". I get it, then show him. He proceeds the return, while remarking, "I'll go ahead and return this for you, but I don't need all the attitude". HE ACCUSES ME OF TAMPERING WITH A PRODUCT, POSSIBLY SWITCHING A PRODUCT, AND I HAVE ATTITUDE!? Today, I looked up the part - where although he is correct in that the part in the Edcor box (35364) was indeed a VDO part (PM3904 or VT37364 - it includes a LOOSE Molex Female conn and some other part that isn't OEM, as well as the butt conns, where the Edcor 35364 comes with butt conns and the Male Molex conn ATTACHED), and this STILL isnt my concern nor my fault. If the Asst Mngr cant tell the difference upon a counter delivery inspection, and at the time I dont know the difference (but blieve it to be "normal"), I blame AutoZone. The first time I came here because Jiffy Lube didn't have the air filter I needed. The young man at AutoZone who got me the filter asked if I knew how to install it. I didn't. He offered to show me. It was ridiculously easy, and I'd been paying JL an inflated price for years. I was so impressed that I came back to replace my wipers. Again, the salesperson offered to install them for me. Yesterday, I was in emergency mode at the Mundeline store. The person who helped me was Luis, I never met him before. He treated me like family. He replaced a battery for me and I was on my way within 10 minutes. Later that day, my alternator crapped. Not only did Luis save me at least $200 but he also got me a mechanic to install the alternator who happened to walk into the store saving me time and saving me even more money.p This is the first review I have ever made. Luis deserves a raise as far I'm concerned. read more

Autozone is my go to parts place. Rarely disappointed. For example, battery died and I got a jump start and drive directly here. John John diagnosed the problem within 30 seconds, we installed a new battery in less than five minutes. Start to finish less than ten minutes and driving away. So don't wonder Why I drove an extra fifteen minutes to this Autozone. Why only four stars? Autozone's rewards program obviously designed by old fashion corporate types whos only interest is my data; no real rewards ever happen. But I come anyway because of the exceptional service. read more

One of my car headlights burned out last week. I told myself that it would be easier -- and cheaper -- to buy a new bulb and install it myself. I decided to go to Autozone, buy the bulb and convince one of the employees to "help" me replace it. I purchased the correct bulb and asked the guy at the register if it would be hard to install, fully aware of the fact that he would probably offer to do it for me. Thankfully, I was right. In about 5 minutes, both of my headlights were fully functioning and it only cost me $10. Thank you, Autozone! read more
