My girlfriend and I went in there to shoot our pistols. The staff was very friendly when we walked in. The lanes were clean and well lit. Overall they are in great condition. The pricing was good compared to other ranges in the area. Their gun and accessory selection was pretty good too. They had many type of guns and rifles in the store. First let me say that I have been a customer of Autrey's from their first year of operation and the experience was always good...until recently. My past few visits have gone downhill. 1. There is an employee that is borderline hostile when I encountered them. This person has repeatedly addressed me as if they were a police officer questioning a suspect at a crime scene. No customer service skills what so ever. The interactions have put a damper on my visits to say the least. 2. It is clear that staff are not monitoring the lanes on the range. In order to have a safe experience, staff intervention may be necessary. I have witnessed untrained customers mishandling firearms and the staff never came to the lanes to correct dangerous behavior (like pointing a loaded weapon at the lanes next to them). It was apparent that these customers were unfamiliar with range safety protocols. In the past, the staff went over range rules before allowing customers through the door to the lanes. 3. The condition of the range have deteriorated. On my last visit, rain was pouring through the roof and I couldn't help but wonder if the owners cared anymore. Needless to say, I don't recommend the business though I hope that they find their way back to providing a good customer experience. read more

Rarely do I ever make reviews on sites, but I do feel it is necessary on this one.I was searching for guns ranges to have a weapon transferred from out of state to Georgia. I came across Autrey's(the less expensive also) and read some of the reviews and a couple had struck a nerve, where there were claims of Racism-I don't even know what led me to continue considering Autrey's from those reads, but I'm so glad that I did. From the first phone call with an employee (Tracy) who basically guided me through the whole transferring process(No rushing me off the phone) to me actually going there and picking up my weapon and meeting and talking to another employee (Tommy) and other's who were Polite/Hospitable/ and Courteous.And not to mention that there were many Non-White customers present- Never once did I get that feeling that the other 1 star reviewers felt. Really weird staff I was told because I had a "weed smell" on me after being asked several times if I smoked and I told him no and he said because we smelled like it that he couldn't sell to us and we couldn't be in there and we explained we may smell like it because of the house we just came from but we didn't smoke and don't have weed. I feel like we got profiled or something because since when does weed smell HAVE anything to do with it and why asked if we smoked if you were just going to refuse service ?? Prices are good on firearms, ammo is pricey as is the nature of the time we are in. THAT, being said, customer service is hit AND miss. A male employee was relatively helpful and non dismissive toward our 4 questions. The counter sales woman that "helped" (I use that term loosely) us was "jovially" condescending when we asked about 2 firearms and continued to speak to us in said fashion. She could see that while we had general knowledge AND safe operation of said devices, she wasn't very helpful until we actually asked questions about the weapons. While we were struggling w some of the parts of the guns that we didn't know, she looked at us in a condescending fashion and again, didn't help us until we asked. We were (my wife) racking the slide and she warned us about pinch points and we informed her that we understood them and were aware but as we continued, she became more condescending in tone, verbiage and facial expressions. Mind you, if we were being unsafe, we wouldn't have been allowed to handle the firearm so, her actions were unnecessary. Roughly the same thing happened when I asked the saleswoman if the laser on the second fire arm we were looking at was "instinctive" or was there a manual button as it was coming on and off. She dryly says, "You're pressing it." I said, "Where? I'm unaware." She states, whilst chuckling as us, "It's on the trigger guard." I didn't feel it until the. She spoke to us so "jovially" condescending to us, so much so that my wife says to her, "If you don't want to help us, you don't have to." She doesn't speak like that to anyone as we are both in customer service and management. We STRONGLY CONSIDERED taking our business elsewhere. She continued to "help" us as we were clearly going to purchase the gun and they were the last store in a 40 mile radius that had this particular firearm. She wasn't "nasty" but, she wasn't in any way accommodating, friendly or helpful w/o us asking. Needless to say, we proceeded with the purchase and while we waited for the background check, we saw another woman (Only 2 were behind the counter or in the store at this time.) treat another customer with the same type of nonchalant, "we only want you here for you money" type of attitude. After we paid and checked out, the woman "helping" us "attempted" to become "friendly" and such but, by this time we were COMPLETELY turned off by her, the other woman there and just the general "feeling" in the store. It was RATHER clear that we were not welcomed there. Needless to say, we will NOT be returning. I'm MORE THAN SURE that they don't care and that this won't hurt their business but, they have lost ours for life. Why would a low price matter if customer service is trash? The ONLY reason they get 1 star is the price. read more

Let me start by saying that Autrey's is the best gun shop in Atlanta for a number of reason's. First and foremost is excellent customer service. Next would be its competitive pricing. Lastly, would be its diversity in offering so much more than just a gun shop. I have been looking for a Night Hawk Custom T3 for a long time and most gun shops do not carry these because it's just a high end custom 1911. I found one at Autrey's and was ready to purchase it when I got a phone call that a good friend was in an auto accident and needed some assistance. I had to leave the store but ask the sales rep to hold the pistol for me for a few hours. Upon my return to Autrey's a few hours later I was notified by Ryan, one of the sales Rep that the T3 I wanted just sold and left the store an hour prior to my return. Ryan furthermore stated that the Rep I spoke to had a slight hearing problem and didn't know I wanted to put that gun on hold. I was very disappointed but Ryan reassured me that he would make it right. So he asked me to give him a couple of days. Using his contacts with Night Hawk he was able to get me a T3 about 5 days later no waiting list. Upon receiving the pistol I noticed it was actually bead blast and not hand filed brushed nickel finish, and it had a slight flaw/burr in the T3 logo. Ryan went above and beyond to have the pistol sent back to Night Hawk, for refinishing, and touch up of the burr. My hats off to Ryan and the rest of the team at Autrey's Armory! Next, competitive pricing was much better than any other gun store not only in GA but the rest of the country. I only buy high end and custom pieces. I often do a lot of research online and with other firearms vendors around the country. Autrey's always attempts to not only match the competitors prices to gain a customer, they often beat the prices offered by other dealers. This is always a win win situation because it offers the buyer or collector to maximize his or her profits of investments in the long run. Lastly, Autrey's is not just your average gun shop with a wide verity of modern and collectible pieces, huge supply of firearms accessories, optics and more. It has a full indoor shooting range capable of small caliber all the way up to rifle cartridges. Thinking of purchasing a silencer for your pistol or rifle? They have that also with knowledgeable staff in pointing you in the right direction on how to get it done. Autrey's is always busy with classes for firearm training and advanced training for groups of all sizes. What surprised me the most was that they offer pistol competition on certain nights with top of the line instructors. What a great way to improve on your skill set. We all have choices when it comes to purchasing firearms, so choose wisely. Autrey's is a bit out of the way for me, but given the facilities (described below), I'll happily drive. Located in a small shopping center way OTP to the south, Autrey's is 45 minutes or more from Buckhead. The #1 perk to Autrey's is the clean range. Their air-circulation and filtration systems appear to work the best of any range in Atlanta (and I've tried all except the one in Stone Mountain, since multiple people complained to me personally of dangerous ricochets at that range). For frequent shooters, this is a must for health reasons. For newbies, I have to believe it makes the range more approachable. #2, Autrey's is also less crowded and tends to have a more mature, experienced crowd. Never have I seen seriously unsafe practices here; instead, there are a good number of cops who provide helpful advice if requested. #3, Customer service at the shop is knowledgeable and helpful. Good assortment of holsters, cleaning items, grips, cases, belts, sights, etc. The items tend to be on the higher end of the range. I haven't purchased a weapon here, but my impression is that the collection of Sig Sauer pistols, rifles, and shotguns is excellent for a shop this size. Pricing seems fair. #4, They are also a Class 3 dealer, which means they can sell suppressors and machine guns. FYI, most ranges and stores in Atlanta do not offer Class 3 items. Autrey's will handle Class 3 transfers for $50 each. #5, Ammo prices are typical for a range (i.e. not cheap), and targets are rather costly. Do yourself a favor and buy targets in advance. IIRC, targets are $1-2 apiece at the range ($0.50 would be more typical). Ear and eye protection rentals are available for a reasonable charge. #6, Gun rentals are available as well, though I haven't used them so can't comment on the cleanliness of the weapons or pricing. PSA: If you do rent a gun, always take a good luck at how clean the weapon is and make sure you know how to clear a jam safely *before* ever loading the weapon. Right now, in my opinion, Autrey's is the best pistol and rifle indoor shooting facility open to the public in the Atlanta area. We have a membership there and would recommend it to anyone. read more

The staff was completely rude. We called ahead for information, and they were clearly in a hurry to get off the phone so they weren't forthcoming about anything we needed to know. For example, we called and asked specifically if there was anything we needed to know about renting a lane, and the response was that we just needed to bring our ids. Upon getting there, they let us know that we were limited to Buying one single box of ammo, something they clearly could've let us know on the phone. A waste of time. read more

We started our Autrey's experience by taking a gun safety class they offer. My wife already had a handgun but was not really strong enough to chamber a round. We started looking for a gun for my wife that she could chamber a round in and would be comfortable shooting. We purchased a Smith and Wesson for her and the people were extremely helpful. We find the people at the range helpful and friendly. We have purchased 4 more weapons since the first and each time the buying experience has been effortless. We always feel welcome when we walk through the door at Autrey's. A great place to shoot because of the friendly atmosphere. read more

RIP OFF ALERT! RUN!!!! NOT MILITARY FRIENDLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm a Marine Corps Sgt and combat veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan; I know my way around ranges and firearms. This place should be shut down for the safety violations alone. Unsupervised range where people are just waving their guns all around with the safety off was enough for me to never go back. But then there was the service: So I walk in the store, and there is a large sign prominently displayed offering a military discount. The jerk at the counter refused to give it to me, even after showing my military ID. Then I asked for a box of ammunition so that I could go to the range. I said I was just target practicing and to give me some cheap rounds. He pulls down a box of Hornady hollow-points. When I told him he had gotten me a box of premium bullets and that I could see the wolf brand right behind him, he tried to tell me I was wrong, and that these nice hollow-points were the cheapest ammo they had. I don't know if he just didn't believe me, or if they run off commissions or if this one guy was just ignorant about his job, or what, but this had never happened to me before. This place will lie to you, and assume you have no idea what you are doing just to make a nominal profit. Had they treated me with respect, I would have made several purchases there since then. Stay away, and all my military brethren out there, I suggest boycotting this place. read more

I went to Autrey's several times in the past 3 years since moving to the ATL area. The staff are knowledgeable enough , however went I there to purchase a Glock they were not Blue Label dealers. The range is decent, however there is usually a wait on the weekends. Most of the folks using the range on Saturday were civilians renting firearms and trying shooting for the first time. The range staff did not supervise these folks once they got hot on the range. I saw numerous range violations and never once did any of the staff come back and make the correction. I left Autrey's for a good about a year ago when one of the customers cleared their semi-auto with the barrel pointed towards my station. The place to go in Coweta or Fayette County is Atlanta Range and Ordnance. Most of their folks are retired from the job or from the military. 116 Bethea Rd STE 118 would make an ideal location to open up a gun store. Wouldn't have to decorate much either. Only thing you would have to do is hire a few people to handle sales. Have been there a few times over the past couple of years and was never impressed, but the last visit was my LAST visit. I went in looking for a shotgun and some ammunition, but after 20 minutes in the store not one of thier self absorbed employees offered any assistance in any way. I had to corner one and when I described what i was looking for in a shotgun, they didn't think the store had one, they didn't know if they could get one, didn't know if the could build one and didn't seem to care to ask if anybody in the store could or might help. Then asked about ammunition. Seeking a few different calibers. Of course didn't have them, don't know when they will come in, don't care to let you know when they do come in. I have tried to get these common rounds over the past 2years and always the same response, Just had some, but not now. Inquired about a new rifle, of course didn't have the gun, but they could get it. Ok, They didn't have the ammo either, they could get it but wouldn't let me know when it showed up. I wanted to purchase the gun if I could by a couple of boxes of ammo to go with. When the gun and AMMO are available together, I would buy. Nope, no can do. I visited Autrey's for the first time a few years ago just to rent guns and shoot, they were a small, but busy shop, it was charming, the staff was well informed, friendly, and helpful. And after being away for a long time, it's nice to see the only change has been an increase in store size and selection, the staff remained as helpful and friendly as ever. No arrogance or pressure either, if a staff member didn't know a system that well, they would point you to another that did, same for shopping in general, if I knew what I wanted to see, they wouldn't try to muscle another product on to me that they considered "better". Since I'm fairly knowledgable with firearms, it's never been an issue. But I've seen them take time away to explain to less informed potential owners the differences in firearms and ammunitions, offered suggestions, and stayed with them to answer any and all questions and really listen to the customers without interruption. While they are polite, they know the laws, and are very vigilant, they don't tolerate stupidity either, I've seen people walk in with complete disregard for safety and respect (see wannabe 'gangstas') and asked to leave. My spouse has been through one of the many classes. They really focused on her weaknesses and reservations about firearms and made her a much improved and educated shooter. Since I haven't been through it myself, I can only go by what I see, and she is much more comfortable than the first time we shot together. I would give 5 stars, but I have a couple small issues. While I do like their range, you have to use 'their' ammo, and by god it's dirty! My pistol has never malfunctioned, ever, no matter how cheap the ammo is, but whatever the ammo is they sell for their range is straight and simple garbage, I can count on at least 5 ejection failures per box, but hey, it's a range, some may have better luck than others. Also, their rifle/shotgun selection is kind of slim, but that could be attributed to the 'just a smidge inflated' prices and lack of another decent gun shop in the immediate area, but it's clear that their focus is pistols. Yes, you can likely get some stuff online cheaper, and since I'm a "Modern Sport Rifle Enthusiast",(see black and scary guns, complete with 'thing that goes up') their selection of rifle accessories is ok, but as many additional goodies that are available out there, Autrey's is kind of slim. But don't let that deter you, because they have a great selection of pistols and keep ammo in good stock, they can also order what you want and need for a pretty fair price. See for yourself, you'd be crazy to at least not walk in and see what they have. read more

I also appreciated the inventory that was available and look forward to when I actually live outside of NYC and can purchase a gun of my own. The staff is generally friendly and helpful, and will guide a new shooter to the right equipment. The range equipment and lanes are fair compared to other ranges I use. Went here to purchase a gun. I found the gun I was interested in and hovered over the gun case a while. A couple of sales people were helping other customers. An older gentleman sales person was next to the gun case I was looking at guns in and never once asked if I needed any help. I had many questions but I guess I didn't look that important because he walked away. Another sales person walked out from the back, walked past me, still waiting at the gun case, to ask another 2 guys if they needed any help. They didn't so he walked to the other side of the store.
