As a first-time home buyer, I had little to no knowledge about the process. I was especially concerned about the pitfalls, as I heard so many stories of people either getting themselves into trouble, or just not getting the best deal they could have. I am a researcher, and because of this I took a lot of time beforehand to understand what a good realtor actually looks like. Among the things that are important are: 1. The agent is someone who, because of their words and actions, has demonstrated honesty, integrity, and true fiduciary intent.  They are professional, prompt and courteous.  They take the time to understand who their client is and what they are looking for, and do not pressure them needlessly, if ever. 2. They understand the current market and it's underpinnings, which dictate all the relevant and imperative need-to-knows.  This specifically relates to the geographic area they are doing business. 3. They have spent enough time in the business to have absorbed tangential skill sets incorporating all other related industries. For example, an inspector's eye for problems with a home which may not be evident to the perspective client, background knowledge of local property taxes and other similar fees/costs, a detailed familiarization with all aspects of closing on a home/the loan process, etc. etc. 4.  Referencing #3 above, they are patient with their clients, willing to sufficiently explain their knowledge or a specified situation in terms and at the level that their client will understand. 5.  They are a good strategist and negotiator on behalf of their client. 6. They are readily available, and reply to emails, texts, and phone calls promptly.  This is very important. I'm sure I'm missing some important things, but if you can find a realtor who fulfills the six points above, you're head-and-shoulders above most home buyers (first-time or otherwise). I am naturally cautious when making any large and far-reaching financial decision. I am also very guarded (even suspicious) with anyone I don't know who will have a major impact/role in that decision, and Autumn can probably attest to that.  HOWEVER, I can say with honesty and confidence that Autumn Cunningham MEETS and EXCEEDS everything in the list above.  I interviewed, analyzed and considered several other realtors in the greater Bellingham/Lynden/Blaine area, and I am absolutely convinced that she is handily the best realtor a person will find.  I trust her and would use her again- and for me to say that, the person must have absolutely earned it.  Use Autumn.  You won't be disappointed. read more

I'll tell you upfront, Autumn is the best. The rest of this review is essentially a long winded expounding of that opinion. She's an awesome blend of personal and professional that brought me great results. When I moved to Whatcom County, all I knew was that it was it was hard to find a rental, and the rental I got was pricey. After a year here, I decided it was time to move into something more permanent, but didn't know what I was looking for. Lucky for me, I ran across Autumn. She looked at my family size, life style and listened to what was important to me and then started feeding me options. She also explained to me the nature of this market, the different neighborhoods of Bellingham and the communities throughout the county, and the pros and cons to each. But what really made her stand apart from other realtors was she told me when something wasn't right. She wasn't looking to put me in the first thing we could find, she wasn't trying to shove me out of my comfort zone when it came to price, and she always told it like it was. She was looking out for me from day one. When it came time for negotiation on price, she was a bulldog. She knew what was fare, and she knew what was reasonable, and she got me where we needed to be. When I came to Autumn, my main concern was resale. I wasn't sure how long I would be living in Whatcom County, and wanted a home I would be able to turn around if I had too. She said trust me, I've got you. And boy did she ever. It's a year later, my house has gone up nearly $60,000 in value and the house two doors down just went off the market in under 24 hours for $25k over list! And it was her every step of the way. Another 5 star review blah blah blah but you might want to read this one. What can you say about Autumn? I can tell you I moved from almost two thousand miles away with my wife and 3 young children. I had a very small window to find a house, buy a house, and get into that house. To say I was beyond stressed would be the understatement of the century. My wife made contact with Autumn and suddenly my problems evaporated. Here was a woman sight unseen who treated my family as if they were her own. She worked around our difficult schedule and around the clock. She listened to our needs walked us through every step of the process and helped us to feel confident about the decisions we were making. Autumn Sold our rental house this summer in record time! Everything went absolutely perfectly. Autumn helped me sell a rental house in California that I wanted to sell before I relocated for my job. The tenants that were living in it wanted to make an offer to buy it and stay in their home. The negotiations were very tough as this is not a typical transaction.
