Initially it seemed like a great idea to eat lunch and relax on the benches in the garden-and it is, minus the food. There were some "advertising signs" that gave the impression of being affiliated with the outdoor restaurant next door. If that is the case you need to avoid the restaurant too! The food is terrible. Among the things we ordered were ham and cheese baguettes and a hot dog. The ham and cheese baguette was not fresh. The hot dog is served on a baguette instead of a bun. I thought this would be good but I one bite and that was enough. The hot dog had such a weird, musky, slimy texture. I don't know what it was made of-and I don't really want to know either. At least I survived it. That is what the one star is for. Avoid even if you are starving.

We were very hungry after waiting in the long line to enter the Palace of Versailles and then exploring it. We decided Angelina (inside the palace) was too expensive and not substantial nor savory enough for our hunger, so we sought out the other restaurants marked on our map. This 'restaurant' is essentially a snack point with seating and service. Don't be fooled by the restaurant signage because the food was definitely not of restaurant quality. It was rather bland and unremarkable for both my friend and I. I had the roasted chicken and my friend had steak. The pricing is decent when considering all other food places nearby, and its location (a tourist trap). But, for parents with picky children, I did note that it had lots of hot dogs, ice cream, French fries, hamburger etc... Fortunately or unfortunately, I doubt the kiddies would mind if the food was bland. Additionally, the waiter was pleasant and the outdoor seating was calming.

Unfortunately, my stay here was rather brief because I had taken the train from Paris to Versailles early in the morning and had to get to the gates of the château by 9:00 AM. My visit to this place may have been cut short due to my being in a hurry, but what I saw was okay and I would come back next time to be able to give it a more thorough review. I got a croissant here, and the notable thing about French croissants is that they're somewhat harder and flakier than their American counterparts! They're smaller, denser, and puffier than the ones you buy in bulk at Costco. They're also straight instead of curly. Overall, I think I like the ones here more. Since they're so small, though, one of them doesn't make for much of a breakfast, not even for a light French continental breakfast. I also got a cup of coffee here, and it's basically like coffee anywhere else. It came with two packets of powdered white sugar... and this little cookie thing. I honestly wasn't sure whether I was supposed to eat it plain, but I didn't feel like asking the waiter, so I crushed it inside the plastic wrapping, opened it up, and dumped the contents into the coffee. Do people have their coffee this way? I honestly don't know, but hardly anyone visits a foreign country without committing some cultural faux pas. The coffee after mixing it all like this was good, for the record. I didn't have time to dawdle, so I skedaddled on right out of there after paying. The waiter knew that I had to go and was very understanding and quick with service. The whole experience was probably worth it. For a place so close to the former French seat of royalty, it's exceedingly simple and does not flaunt itself the same way the Palace does. However, it may be worth checking out for that reason. The food is reasonably priced, and I don't know whether it's fitting for Louis XIV. I personally found no major flaws with it, and it seems pretty suitable for anyone.

It was a rainy day, and we were struggling with our umbrellas (mine flipped outwards with the strong winds), and one of the baristas opened the door for us and let us get ourselves together. We were offered menus, which were in English and French, and ordered at the counter when ready. I've been coming down with a cold, so I ordered Golden milk and avocado toast. The meal was very healthy, it came with quinoa salad and carrot slaw. Light, but a good little bit of protein for the vegetarian option. The Golden milk was very nice, the turmeric and ginger balanced out nicely, so it wasn't overwhelming. It helped me feel a little better and is a great way to warm up. They have a combo meal deal- drink, lunch plate, and dessert, but Golden milk isn't included with this option. My friend split her pistachio cake with me and it was delicious! I love pistachio anything- so it was a nice treat. It's a small and cozy little cafe and a nice place to take a break after touring the Palace.

The coffees being served are quite nice and I'd recommend taking home a bag since it's about ten euros for 250gm for their espresso blend. It's a little expensive for a cafe latte or flat white with milk. The microfoam could be better.
