AV Maxx was a dream to deal with. I can't say enough good things about them. From their affordable pricing, to their almost brand new (if not brand new) rental equipment, to their customer service, AV Maxx was top notch. I needed to rent some DJ equipment for my wedding in Lincoln Park. We were flying in a reputable DJ from DC, so he was very particular about the equipment he needed. AV Maxx had all the equipment he needed at a fraction of the cost of their competitors. My DJ even mentioned that he thinks the mixer has maybe been used once at the most, before him. They delivered the equipment on-time and picked it up right at the end of the night. I would absolutely recommend AV Maxx to anyone and wouldn't think twice about using them again. Had a gig in Chicago and I'm from California. Rented two turntables, S9 mixer, and some lights. All I gotta say everything worked perfect just lesson learned don't use turntables in a boat. But other than that they made everything my experience and the renting smooth for me. Even went out of their way for me to be able to drop off the stuff the next day even that it was a holiday weekend. Definitely a great place and recommend them to anyone in Chicago. Not recommended, at all. False advertising of item listed on website and manager Leo was unprofessional in addressing and handling the problem efficiently. He refused to send me a prepaid shipping label to return the incorrect item that was sent to me. Purchased two pinspots for mirror ball use: AVMAXX advertised on website as LED and both pinspots are clearly not LED, at all. Emailed for request for return: AVMAXX did not offer to pay for return shipping due to their own advertising error. Called to speak with manager, and was given Leo to speak with. I requested to him to have him send me a pre-paid shipping label emailed to me since they made the mistake, and he refused to acknowledge me a prepaid label. He kept insisting that I must pay for the shipping since Paypal handled the transaction. Paypal has nothing to do with their error they made. AVMAXX should admit they were wrong and make proper amends, of which they are refusing to do 100%. It is not my error in the purchasing transaction, it is AVMAXX in false advertising. Leo was continually unprofessional in how he addressed the issue poorly with me on the phone, and he refused to even apologize for the problem and the error made. Furthermore, once I notified them of the error, they had since quickly changed the website advertising description. I had already taken a image photo of that incorrect website description, as shown. My first and only purchase thus far was a positive experience. I called various vendors, asked for quotes on a Pioneer DDJ-SR2. Over the phone, I called AV Maxx and spoke with "Roberto" who graciously offered me the controller at a lower price without hesitation. If I could give them zero stars I would. I had been looking for a RGB laser for my friend for a while and had settled on AVMAXX as the vendor seeing as they had what I needed, are a local shop and I like supporting local businesses. I placed an order online with them and got the confirmation email. A few days later I got an email from them saying my order is on hold and to contact them. I called their toll free number twice to only get voicemail. So I wrote a ticket inside their my account portal. I assumed this hold was due to an error with my credit card or the fraud alert my credit card showed for the transaction (which I approved). A short time after submitting the ticket they responded back say please call our land line and provided a phone number. Long behold when I called the phone number a lady picked up identifying herself as the assistant us district attorney. I was in shock! What horrible customer service! It was returned to the store and they'd resend and would arrive in 2-3 days a week went by I called they said sorry our system is down so it didn't ship. We will ship now. I once again called they said it takes 6 days for refund to hit the credit card. Two weeks lapsed and no refund and no merchandise - next I'm reporting them to the BBB.
