Coming to Avail a few years ago, I met with the staff who walked with me through issues I was dealing with at the time. If it hadn't been for their support and guidance, it would have been hard facing what I had be dealing with personally at the time. Avail's impact made such a difference in my life that I still go to them to this day after 2 years. I today just came to Avail after a 5 year anniversary of my worse experience post abortion depression and I only have one thing to say Thank God I came this place!!!!! I love the waiting room especially I never felt more at home!!! it looked like a living room from the time I walked out receptionist window the service ice was warm,welcoming, and inviting the room I was sitting in talking to my counselor is how I picture my future office couch soft and comfortable and the walls with beautiful art. She was alert but sweet and listened all the way she didn't judge me for anything she was attentive and courteous she respected me and made me feel so relived I came. They offer you tea and water and the overall atmosphere was just wonderful I can't wait to return back next Monday. I think what impressed me more was that I saw all women here and I we need more of them behind great interpersonal places such as this it's comforting to know that women and adolescents can come to a place and talk of important aspects uch as this and feel good about it or even feel relived of the monkey off their back even more. read more

I am more than grateful to the AVAIL team. They are so kind, professional, and trustworthy. Since day one, they have made me feel comfortable like a family. Always open to share resources available and knowledge that could be helpful for me and my family. The best organization that I know since I moved to NY is AVAIL. They gave us a series of videos with an easy to fill out questionary of every stage of pregnancy and we learn so much. Also videos and articles about the labor, post pregnancy care, lactation and sleep consultation that are extremely valuable. They also gave us a list of referral doctors in case we needed. Their couple program to earn tickets after each visit and accumulate them through out the pregnancy and then exchange for baby items is epic! I recommend it with close eyes to everyone. read more

This is a "pro-choice" place. The counselors are nice, but they do push an anti-abortion agenda. If you need an unbiased opinion, go to Planned Parenthood. They have counselors there who will listen to you and not push anything on you. read more

My partner Teona first discovered Avail when we found out she was 6 weeks pregnant. At the time, we were excited but she was very nervous. She was welcomed in with no questions asked and found a supportive environment that goes beyond what anyone can imagine. Our counselor Kelly has worked with Teona since the beginning and I join in on the parenting class portion of our sessions. Love them ! Called on the phone because I just wanted to talk and see someone RIGHT AWAY and they granted me with open arms ! The receptionist was nice and helpful. Then I spoke with Tiffany who was PERFECT. She had a relatable experience and we talked a little over time but it was worth it ! I was a little shy at first but they got me to feel very comfortable- esp. the ultrasound tech . The place at that is very comfortable, clean and beautiful. They offer a lot of great stuff ! From pregnancy test to baby showers. So much women empowerment no matter who you are or whatever the situation is! read more

This is an "PRO-LIFE," Christian organization with an agenda-which is to prevent women from terminating pregnancies. They do not have your best interest at heart. Doubtless they really do offer lots of resources for women who are ready to give birth, and I can see how this organization could be helpful to those women. They do not provide support, referrals, information or assistance to women who for whatever reason can't of wish not to carry a pregnancy to term. I came here because I was looking for a support group after having an abortion. It was a difficult choice to make but one that I should fully have had the right to make without the manipulative interference of organizations like this who claim to be neutral and here to help but are really here to advance their own religious anti-abortion agenda. It is normal to feel grief and distress after an abortion. I was hoping to find some support from someone who would understand why I made the choice I did. After going to Avail and being told that I need to be forgiven by God, that in order to heal I should abstain from sex, that I am a "survivor" of abortion- I feel considerably worse about everything. Nothing on the website indicated their position, nor did anything in the actual building. It wasn't until the end of my 45 min session with a "counselor" --after having really opened up to this person about very personal aspects of my life-- did her agenda become clear. They deliberately mislead me until after they had got all kind of personal information out of me- least of all my phone number and address. My heart breaks for all the girls who come here after reading the website expecting un-biased professional help with a momentous and scary decision. These people at Avail should be ashamed of themselves for manipulating and misleading people who are already in a vulnerable place with nowhere to turn. Deceiving people is wrong no matter what religion you profess. If like me you can't afford a therapist or doctor but you need help, there are some nearby resources you can use: 1. The NYC Sexual Health Facilities are amazing. I went to the Chelsea clinic at 303 9th Ave, New York, NY 10001- I was able to see a real licensed therapist, get an ultrasound, get tested, talk about birth control options, even get an HPV vaccine! They are super kind and non judgmental. They can help you if you plan to give birth or choose to terminate your pregnancy. They don't make appointments over the phone but they take walk ins all day. Planned Parenthood has a free hotline and a chat feature if you don't want to or can't talk on the phone out loud. I found Avail on Google. They seemed too good to be true so I did more research and scheduled an appointment. Making an appointment was fast and easy. The location was easy to get to and the women who greeted me were beyond friendly and accommodating. They have so many services available - I was amazed that this whole operation is free to the public. More women should know about this place. I felt so comfortable during my session and the woman who helped me was nonjudgmental, friendly and easy to talk to. I called Avail because my friend just found out she's pregnant and she wants an abortion. The receptionist informed me that they don't offer abortion. She was nice and professional, but informed me that this is "not a full scale medical facility". She told me that they will talk about different abortion procedures, but will not refer people to doctors who provide abortions. I referred my friend to my gynecologist instead. read more

I cannot think of any other places to say such positive and wonderful things about. I had just found Avail on google search the morning I took some at-home pregnancy tests and I made the earliest appointment there was. When I went in, my counselor (Tiffany) was incredible and so calming that I knew that even though we had just met, she was going to be one of the biggest support. She was not only incredibly patient in letting me have time to absorb everything that was going on and tried to help me express those feelings and say them aloud. I will forever be grateful for her understanding and her help to let me communicate with my sister who was there with me and helping both of us. Tiffany made this whole process so much more relaxing and after our sessions, I could feel her hope and endless support. Thank you so much for everything Tiffany and Avail! This place is seriously too good to be true. So I recently found out that I'm pregnant and I'm currently without insurance. I was panicking after paying out of pocket for one visit and realized what the costs associated with the future visits. I discovered avail, was able to get a email response the next day where they scheduled me to come in the next day for a pregnancy test and advice as per insurance. Apparently my local ob gyn gouged me and made up lies about the insurance process and even went as far as telling me I might have a ectopic pregnancy. I immediately felt the warmth and love that this wonderful group of women had to offer upon stepping into the office. The office is gorgeous and clean and everyone is sweet as can be. Thank you ladies for being so supportive and reassuring me things would work out. I also scheduled a sonogram a fews later and saw my beautiful baby in my uterus. Ladies if you're in the same boat as me, don't fret sometimes it's just too soon to see your little one. I was about 6 weeks at the sonogram so shame on the local ob gyn that scared me when I must've only been 2-3 weeks. You guys are seriously heaven sent!!! I came here a day after calling them the night before which was amazing thats i got scheduled that quickly. I was really anxious and worried going to some place i just found online but as soon as they opened the door i felt the warmth of their organization. Both women who attended me were extremely kind and helpful, i even got tea while i waited and a cute gift bag with tea, chocolate, lotion and some other things.
