Dr. Fleischman is a very caring & compassionate Doctor. However, before you make your decision you must know what the other side looks like. No woman should go through this alone & Dr. Fleischman is patient & empowering in helping to alleviate the emotional stress felt during this process, but after its done, youre all alone & left to deal with every fiber of the loss. Any emotional trauma you experienced prior to getting pregnant gets 10 times worse after the procedure. I wish Dr. Fleischman could pull prior patients into the office for you to consult with before making the fateful decision thatll forever impact your life. I had a medical abortion & what I experienced is unimaginable pain & loss, the kind that's inescapable, enduring & creeps up on you when you least expect it. When your baby dies inside you, you feel like youve died with it. & there's literally no cure. Every1 says RU486 just causes the baby to detach from the uterine wall. They don't tell you that it starves the baby of nutrients which causes the detachment. I now have a hormonal imbalance due to the RU486, a yeast inf., BV and developed an ovarian cyst, and now pelvic & back pain. Its not worth it, the pain, the suffering, & self-loathe. I am a regular Yelper with a fake name for privacy. I went to Early Options today to terminate my pregnancy at 5 weeks. I called yesterday and they immediately fit me in today. I had an abortion once before, many years ago at a clinic and it was a very scary experience (I'll get into it more later). The phone receptionist at Early Options was so helpful and I honestly didn't feel like I was a bother with the many questions I had for her. I kept apologizing for keeping her on the phone so long but she never once seemed annoyed. When I got to the office today, it was very discrete, something that I truly appreciated. There is nobody in the waiting room when you arrive and you are immediately escorted to your room. They do this so that you never see other patients. I brought a friend to keep me company and it was so wonderful that she was allowed in the examining room with me. The nurse Arlene soon came in to see me and was so sweet, easy going, and just an overall wonderful person to have through this process. Even at my regular doctor's office, I feel that the nurses are not interested in me, seem very stressed about their lives outside of the office, and aren't even focused on the patient. Arlene knew me for 5 minutes and I felt like she was my friend/mother and that was exactly what I needed during this rough time. We even laughed and joked--something that helped me ease my anxiety. I didn't have to wait very long for the doctor. She was very calming and explained what I would be going through. Everything she said was positive--she even made me feel better about how early I was in the pregnancy. The process seemed to go very fast. My friend was doing her best to distract me by reading a funny book but Arlene stood next to me and held my hand. I'd say that was one of the most memorable parts of the visit. For the nurse to help me, tell me to breathe, and let me hold her hand until I was digging my nails into her, it meant so much to me. It showed that they really cared about me and what I was going through. I truly felt that the doctor cared about me and my decision and respected me for it, something I don't think you see or expect to see at a clinic. The intense pain was bad, but it was 90 seconds at most. For my first abortion, I took the abortion pill and the intense pain lasted hours and hours. I had a very intense nauseous and lightheaded reaction to this procedure but that only hit after we were done---this happens to me often when working out so I'm wasn't totally shocked by it. Nobody rushed me to get up and get dressed---I just sat with my friend in the room until I felt well enough to move. As I was leaving the examining room, I went in to see the doctor and she explained how well the procedure had gone and even showed me what the size of the pregnancy had been. That made me feel a lot better. As I was leaving, the doctor came to give me a hug. I can't even explain how wonderful that made me feel. I never thought I'd walk out of an abortion feeling okay--well, better that okay. I would HIGHLY recommend anyone seeking an abortion to go here. It was worse the cost x 10. There is truly no comparison between this office (and procedure) and a clinic. You have no privacy at a clinic and everything is done by protocol--you move from one room to have intake, the next to do blood, then back out in the waiting room, then called in, its a long process. I also never felt that the nurses and receptionists at the clinic cared about the patients. They were just doing their job, nothing above and beyond their minimum required tasks. I wish I knew about this place years ago when I took the pill at a clinic. Please, if you have the option to come here to terminate a pregnancy, I highly recommend doing so. read more

I felt compelled to write this review because Early Options is the kind of place we all hope is out there when we need it and I want to ensure people know about it. I don't know why the other reviews aren't showing up on Yelp, but I want to let you know that you shouldn't let that dissuade you. I can attest to the fact that the experiences described are all accurate, having just visited them myself a couple of days ago. Like many women in my situation, I did all I could to avoid finding myself there. Nevertheless, it happened and I needed to find the best option for me. I was originally scheduled to go to another place, but came across Early Options while I research the procedure I sought (MVA). There was something about the way their website was written and the reviews I did manage to find that convinced me this was the place for me. I called and was able to secure an appointment on my schedule and the person on the phone was kind, compassionate and thorough. I have to admit, I was caught off-guard a bit by the questions about how I'd found them, but I suppose they are having trouble getting the word out, and given my experience, I am more than happy to help. The day of, I was greeted warmly and was shown to a private room immediately. I spoke at length to both the nurse and the doctor, both of whom answered all my questions efficiently and intelligently. I never felt like they were trying to talk down to me or sugar coat anything (and I actually have medical training, though I didn't bring it up). I was more emotional than I expected to be and they managed my fears, concerns and anxieties with equal parts kindness and strength. As for the procedure itself, I know everyone is different, but my experience seemed to have been more painful than originally described. It hurt quite a bit, but even so, it was over in less than five minutes and both the doctor and nurse were incredibly supportive and kind throughout. It took me about 30 minutes to recover from the pain afterwards, but again, they were both completely honest when they said it would only get better from there. (Note: I was offered the option of taking a stronger pain medication and turned it down. In hindsight, that's the only thing I would have changed) Even though I hadn't had morning sickness, I did feel a very small bit of nausea afterwards, but it was nothing a couple crackers and some pretzels couldn't fix. As for recovery, I'm actually amazed at how easy it was. I had minimal cramping for a day or two afterwards (always mild, maybe one or two short bursts of moderate) and very little bleeding. I didn't originally believe that I could have returned to work afterwards if I'd needed to even through they told me it was possible, but even with the more painful than normal procedure, I would not have had any issues. This practice really is a remarkable place. It's exactly what I would have pictured needing and wanting had I thought about this before needing to. I realize this is a bit of a shadow situation, both from a patient privacy perspective as well as from a provider safety perspective, but women need to know this option is out there for them should they need it. I hope Yelp will publish this review properly. Even if they don't, take the time to give them a call. You owe it to yourself during this difficult time to find the best place for you and I'd be very surprised if this wasn't it. read more

I posted a similar review on Google but wanted to post here as well because my gratitude and admiration for Early Options is truly limitless. I could not have asked for a better experience in this situation. It was heart wrenching enough to make the difficult decision to terminate my pregnancy. I had a terrible experience at another clinic (Walk-in GYN in Astoria), where I waited for over 5 hours only to be told (incorrectly) that there was a wait period and I would have to come in for three more (!) follow-up appointments before I would then be referred to East Side Gynecology (another place I've heard horror stories about - including that the lead doctor there uses the opportunity of having women in his exam chair to recommend vaginal reconstructive surgery to them. Horrifying). Anyway. Early Options was beyond anything I could have imagined. I went with my boyfriend - who they allowed to be by my side throughout the entire procedure. We were buzzed in - it felt very very safe - and were immediately greeted and guided into a private room. There was no one in the waiting area and the space was clean and quiet and peaceful. I had gone in planning to do the abortion pill (since I didn't know much about SofTouch) but once I met with the nurse (who was the sweetest, a literal angel) and discussed it, I decided to go with the SofTouch since it has a significantly shorter recovery time, less bleeding, and higher accuracy. Plus, no follow-up visit required! When I met the doctor (FYI, everyone is female which I really appreciated!) she was just as gracious, articulate, and non-judgmental as I could hope. She also talked me through my options and even offered to help on the other end with getting me an IUD, which had proved difficult in myriad other obgyn offices due to some shenanigans with my insurance. I didn't just feel like I was there to be 'processed' - she cared about my ongoing health and wellbeing in a way that is rare in any doctor's office. There was an ultrasound and then the SofTouch procedure began - and ended- in under five minutes. The lovely nurse was on one side of me, helping to distract me with conversation, while my boyfriend held my hand. It hurt for maybe 30 seconds at most - no, it wasn't a great feeling but my god I wouldn't trade it for any of the other options presented. It was so fast, I had so much support, and within half an hour the cramping and bleeding had almost completely stopped. I was given a juice and they told us we could sit in the private room and relax for as long as we needed. When we were ready to leave, the nurse and doctor both hugged me and I was able to thank them for giving me such a caring and calm experience. I got all the paperwork I needed for insurance to reimburse me as well. Not only that - they were also able to accommodate my financial needs and offered me a discounted price up front that I could afford. So please, seriously - going to a place like Early Options may seem out of reach, but TRUST me when I say: there is no better place in NYC to go when you have had to make the difficult decision to abort a pregnancy. They were there for me financially, logistically, and emotionally and I could not be more grateful. I cannot say enough about how amazing this place is. They are angels on earth. I went to planned parenthood initially and had the worst experience of my life. Planned parenthood felt like I was in an assembly line and treated as if I was wasting their time with my questions and concerns. At Early Options, I immediately felt secure and safe upon arrival. First I met with an amazing woman named Francesca. She was so sweet, kind, and reassuring. She went over all I needed to know and I felt I didn't have any questions left because everything was already answered for me. Then I met Dr. Fleischman. This is how all doctors should be. Incredibly personable, patient, and immediately put me at ease. I never thought that on such a difficult day I would find myself smiling. I came with my boyfriend who was able to stay with me the entire time. They did the sonogram, gave me a hot pack and began setting up the procedure. Because I was so incredibly nervous, I began to cry and panic. They asked if I was okay over and over and if I wanted to continue, which I did. The procedure moved forward and I began to feel the cramps they discussed. Ladies, this is not that bad. If you ever had a bad period, it is essentially the same. They just suck, they're not excruciating. Then all of a sudden she told me she was done and I actually didn't believe it. I couldn't believe it. The majority of the procedure was them setting up it felt like 30 seconds, no joke. They did a repeat sono, gave me ginger ale and things to clean up. They came in multiple times to ensure I was okay before sending me home with hugs. Yes it can be expensive ($1200 if you don't need financial assistance, $600 if you do). Ladies, it is worth every single penny. You have anyone you choose by your side the entire time and it was quick and virtually pain free. The worst side effect I have right now is LIGHT (I'm talking super light) spotting and a cramp here and there. I don't know why this procedure isn't being done everywhere and why this style of allowing people with you and kindness isn't either. Dr. Fleischman, Francesca, and even Madeline (who kindly set up my appointment via phone and provided information), you guys are angels on earth. An unplanned pregnancy can be very difficult if you're not prepared. I am the type of person who googles every little thing but I found out about EO on Yelp. I emailed them as soon as I found out I was pregnant and Juliette was very responsive to my emails. We emailed back and forth for two weeks because at first my obGYN couldn't identify the sac in my uterus and then other events that happened to me which delayed me being able to get the procedure done. However, during this time, Juliette answered each and every one of my questions. You make a deposit online and your appointment is confirmed. I went in today and I was VERY anxious. However, once I was sent to the room and met Juliette and Dr. Joan Fleischman I felt safe, I felt comfortable, and most importantly, I felt confident about my choice. The actual procedure felt like a pap smear. Really. They let me listen to music and allowed my friend to sit with me during the entire time. The cramping in the procedure feels like the very first day of your period. From 1 to 10 I would give it a 5 or 6 and then theres one second (literally one second) that you feel some pain but it isn't bad and goes away very quick. It was all very tolerable and quick. I couldn't believe how fast the procedure was. Everyone here was very attentive with me and I appreciate it. I couldn't sleep the night before because I was so anxious but I can say that in this place I felt respected, cared for , and the procedure wasn't this huge stressful thing. It felt like a normal doctor's visit. in fact better because the attention you receive is superior. I left feeling relieved and I walked up the stairs on my 5th floor walk up feeling great. I thank everyone at EO so much. I wish more people knew about SofTouch and EO. It can really be a big difference when you're with people who care. I discovered at my first ultrasound at 11 weeks that the baby had stopped developing around 6 weeks. I did not have any signs of a miscarriage, and so I was as surprised as I was sad to find out that I'd had a missed miscarriage at the ultrasound. The attending doctor at the hospital explained that I could probably take a pill instead of undergoing a D&C, or wait to miscarry naturally. I had read how painful and prolonged a process the abortion pill could be, and I did not want to wait to miscarry naturally, since my body obviously still had not figured out after so many weeks. Really, I did not want to "wait" -- already feeling deep loss of my pregnancy, I didn't want to have to endure a prolonged miscarriage process, or wait for it to happen (without knowing when and how it might happen). As a precaution I took the rest of the day off to be at home, but I did not have any issues with the exception of very very mild cramping from time to time and some tenderness that evening. I am so grateful to have found Early Options and had their care with my miscarriage process. I felt looked after in a warm, personal and caring way; it was not at all clinical, and this was a tremendous help in a sad process. It also helps me heal to know that, physically, I can get back to my normal life almost immediately, and that I can start to try to get pregnant again without any wait. Feeling anxious and eager for help, I called early operations early one morning. They answered many of my questions over the phone and got me in for an appointment the same day. Unsure if I was even pregnant I was desperate for guidance and information regarding my options. Upon arriving in their clean and warm office I quickly felt reassured. Their extreme attention to privacy was obvious. From the receptionist, to the medical assistant to Dr. Fleishman herself, my entire experience was calm, professional and nothing if not genuinely comforting and caring. They walked me through the entire procedure with the utmost delicacy, answering my questions with attention and patience. The procedure was over very quickly and the attunement of the staff to my emotional needs at the time was incredible. Offering to hold my hand, they clinical assistant met my needs through distraction, heating pads and an intense focus on my emotional well-being. Post-procdure, Dr. Fleishman took the time to debrief with me; answering medical questions and engaging in an inspiring discussion of the feminist history of her procedures with an eye to female empowerment. I left the office feeling so lucky that I had the best-case-scenario in what was an emotionally delicate time. It's a shame more women can't have as wonderful of an experience. I would be doing a huge disservice to women faced with the ultimate dilemma if I didn't write this review. I am so grateful to the compassionate, informed, comforting and skilled team at Early Options. I determined I was pregnant early on and in doing so, had many options. After getting over the initial shock as I'm almost 40 and married, I scheduled an appointment to get RU486 at a local clinic. However, I continued to do research. When I came across these Yelp reviews for Early Options, I thought it was both too good to be true and too good not to research. After my first phone call, I knew this was the best choice available. I scheduled my appointment and did not feel any of the fear or embarrassment as I did after speaking to the person at the original clinic. I went in for my appointment and was overwhelmed by the warmth and consideration of everyone in the office. Patient privacy is of the utmost concern and they make sure patients do not interact with each other. I felt like I was in my own private doctor's office. I decided to opt for the Soft Touch procedure after reading the realities of RU486. I'm so glad I did. The procedure itself was probably all of 5 minutes. There were about 5 minutes of very painful cramping (which was tolerable since I experience cramps every month) afterwards. However, the nurse made sure I was made comfortable with a heating pad, ginger ale and a few minutes to myself. The experience my wife had at early options was nothing more than sublime. My wife and I have decided to terminate our pregnancy due to economic and financial restraints and it would be unfair to a child to be born without a strong backing for growth. I had the soft touch procedure done, and I feel I need to share my experience to help women in the same situation that I was. There are so many reasons that lead women to go through the abortion process, and once the decision is made, it also takes a lot of courage to actually go through with the procedure. I searched abortion clinics online and found Early Options with excellent reviews, so I chose to go forward with them. From the start, the staff was very professional and discrete. I checked in at 8:30 am, and the receptionist escorted me and my husband to our private room. A nurse took my vitals and iron levels, she was just exceptional, very kind and human during the whole process. After everything was checked out, Dr. Fleischman came in and was also very kind and answered all my questions. The actual procedure lasts no more than 5 minutes and it was VERY painful for me (keep in mind that pain varies from women to women), according to Dr. Fleischman my uterus is very strong and that is why I experienced more pain than usual. So I would definitely recommend going with someone you feel comfortable with. My husband's presence was essential for me to keep calm and work through the pain. In addition, the amazing nurse also held my hand through the whole process and kept telling me how I was doing amazing. The good thing is that the pain reduces very quickly and in 10 minutes I was able to stand up and check out at 10:30 am. It has been 4 days since I've done the procedure and I'm experiencing a ​little amount of bleeding and no pain at all. I can not say enough GREAT things about my experience with Early Options. From the very first phone call to when I left the office I was calm and reassured. The professionalism, knowledge, and most importantly kindness of the staff was extraordinary. I was incredibly nervous leading up to the appointment but my nerves dissipated as soon as I walked through the door. The staff makes sure you are comfortable the entire time, they do a fantastic job of normalizing the experience. The entire time I felt so safe and knew that I was in the absolute BEST possible hands. I actually had a family member accompany me to the appointment, and the first thing they said to me after was "WOW I couldn't have been more impressed with that office, the Dr.,nurse and staff were all fabulous, I think you made a great decision choosing them." The non surgical procedure itself was fast and simple and everything is explained to you in great detail, in addition to any questions you may have. After they make sure you are comfortable and relaxed. For me personally, after resting for 10/15 minutes and drinking a gingerale I was up and on my way to work. I actually could not believe how simple it was and how okay I felt. On that note, I truly can not thank the team at Early Options enough, they are the BEST. I am so incredibly grateful for Dr. Fleischman and her extraordinary staff. This is not a decision approached lightly, and when reaching out for answers, many places can be cold and curt. Leaving you feeling even more distraught than you already are. From the very first call, the women at Early Options were kind, compassionate, sympathetic and thorough. Every detail was covered, every option, and extreme flexibility & understanding of my personal situation, as I'm certain they are with each of their patients. Throughout my visit, Francesca was an absolute angel. She was by my side the whole time, encouraging me, asking questions and making sure of my emotional and physical state. She was such a comfort. Dr. Fleischman was personable, compassionate and incredibly thorough with her communication and practice. She was so patient and spent much time going over details and answering all of my questions. The procedure itself (I opted for SofTouch) was short and there was minimal pain. There was some discomfort, and the cramping is definitely intense - but they prepare you for all of this and there is someone with you to support throughout. The aftercare information is very comprehensive and easy to understand. The office itself is quiet and very private. I felt safe and supported. First I want to start off by saying that I do not usually write reviews. I also am a real patient, not a staff member or friend of a staff member. I say this because I read through all of the reviews here, and on other sites as well as on the company's website and was worried that they weren't real. I did my research about the softouch procedure and other options while battling all the emotions: terror, anxiety, humiliation, loneliness and sadness. I felt the same emotions when I walked into the office to do the softouch procedure but the staff: nurses, reception and doctors, did everything that they possibly could to alleviate these emotions without coming off inauthentic. Nothing about this experience is easy but it was incredibly helpful to have had people who actually had the capacity to show empathy while being professional. The procedure itself does hurt but for short periods of time and the doctor knew how to ease my anxiety about the pain - she let me know exactly what she was doing and when and how long it would take. When it was over, they didn't rush me. brought me a snack and something to drink and then made sure that I was okay. When I cried beforehand, not only were they patient but they offered me comfort and genuine concern. Still going through recovery but so far it has not been anything worse than a regular period. I can't imagine doing this anywhere else and firmly believe it was worth the price. read more
