They have a convenient outdoor grill where we made all of our meals and they have plenty of cooking resources to help guests feel like they have an equipped kitchen for their food preparation. The blankets and linens on the bed were incredibly comfortable and provided us with excellent rest. The experience strikes the right balance between camping and enjoying the ranch lifestyle. The public part of their barn is open 24/7 with WiFi and they have a cute store inside selling a variety of provisions as well as clothing and fun gift items like tiny felt alpacas. You can buy fresh beef and pork grown by their neighbors' farms directly from them which is a cool unique perk of staying at the ranch. We enjoyed getting to interact with all the different animals they have on the ranch consisting of alpacas, goats, cows, bulls, horses, and dogs. The most incredible experience we had was doing the horse heart event with Merrill. She guided us through interacting with the horses in an emotional and intimate way that was unforgettable. We then learned how to groom and take care of the horses then got to ride the same horses we bonded with the following morning for a breathtaking morning horse ride. Last but not least, you can't beat the view of the stars at night, it's as clearest a sky out there as you could ever hope for. The cabins are well-stocked for a large family stay; the main cabin is a two bedroom house with one bathroom, dining room and kitchen. It's stocked with dishes, silverware, pots, pans, linens, trash bags and firewood, everything you need in a cabin in the woods. The setting is surrounded by beautiful mountains which were changing colors this time of year. I saw deer every day grazing in front of the cabin. I also heard there are frequent bear sightings but I didn't see any (I was hoping to get some photos!). There's a small stream running right alongside the cabin which makes for sleeping soundly. If you sleep with the windows open and let in the cool mountain breeze. Outside there is a large fire pit surrounded with chairs which is where we spent everyone of our evenings sitting around the campfire talking about the days fishing. The cabin does have Wi-Fi but it's of very limited speed and you can actually use it for Wi-Fi calling as well. The nearest cell phone signal is about 4 miles up the road so you really get the feel of being alone with nature and away from our fast-paced world. They also have Dish TV if you do decide to embellish if can't be without the latest sports or news. We didn't need to use the TV at all. Just across the road Taylor Creek has its own private fishing waters on the frying pan river if you love to fish for trout. It's great for fly fishing and there's a Gold medal fishery; its famous for its large brown and rainbow trout. And oh yeah definitely bring your best camera we can take photographs for days of the mountains, streams, and wildlife the scenery is absolutely astounding! If you're looking for the ultimate getaway but are no longer into tent camping this is absolutely the place to go!

Also, this is an old home with creaky floors and stairs which I personally love. However, if you're a light sleeper, you're gonna hear squeaks and the murmur of voices. And what a booming town this little hamlet used to be. And that is why you should tour Redstone Castle. You need to buy your tour ticket in town. Give yourself another 10 minutes to drive up to the castle, park, and get over to the castle. But it isn't really a castle. No moat. No drawbridge. No turrets or towers. It's just a big house. And considering I live in Boston Metrowest - I have friends who live in larger, more ornate, tackier houses. Most of the first floor of the house has been kept in "original" condition. But since the castle has been operated as a bed and breakfast or inn by previous owners, all of the bedrooms have been updated. No telling if there is any resemblance to the original. Also, most of the furniture is NOT the original stuff, so again not sure if any of the stuff is even period pieces. It is still cool to walk around. And imagine living there 100 years ago. It's really about the coal, not the castle.
