Whoops. Somehow I didn't log into my actual Yelp account. So sorry it's not a positive one, but…read morehere's another review!: This complaint is with respect to the manager, "Gage." I've also lodged a complaint on the corporate scale. The staff members, on multiple occasions provided misinformation regarding the cancellation process. I have not attended a PF club in at least 5 months. I signed up at this club, which is local to my secondary residence (out of state). I was advised by my (now) local club that I would need to speak with this club regarding the cancellation. Fine. I placed 2 phone calls requesting the cancelation process and was advised "I must send a physical letter with my cancelation request." Considering I travel quite frequently, the means to sending a physical letter, was out of my control until recently. I requested a courtesy reimbursement according to my last club visit (months ago). May's payment was also just deducted last week, around the time I sent my first class letter in through the postal system. Gage, "not required to provide any refund" gave the generous refund of 1 month. And had the audacity to say to me "I could have canceled sooner- online." Given the fact that your staff members, each I spoke to, apparently incompetent and undertrained by you, Gage, told me a letter (how outdated is your company???) is the only way I can cancel, don't you think I would have canceled online, had I been properly informed?? To add further elaboration and evident to your staffs' lack of training and knowledge, moments before my call to your club wherein we spoke, I was AGAIN misinformed that my refund request be directed to your ABC billing company! That was also false! Thanks for your compassion and empathy. It comes to me at no surprise that my 6+ months of a $20 membership will make or break the difference of doing the right thing, and hitting your monthly club numbers.

So I would like to update this review because there have been significant changes over at…read moreBarsculpt. I was a long-term customer there, with a regular weekly schedule and LOVED the class itself and my usual instructor. The owner very recently downsized to a small studio which made for some really inconvenient changes that are really hard to ignore. The first is parking, the old location had a decent amount available, but the new space in the State Theatre building does make it challenging if you're commuting. The second is the price hike. I used to get my 5 class pass for barre only for $55, which was a steal. Totally would have been okay with a reasonable update to align with competitors but it was hiked to $100 for a 5 class pass, which is really unreasonable in my opinion. Granted this price includes reformer and barre, but for someone who doesn't do reformer classes it's definitely not worth it. The last piece is the class times. They used to have a wide variety and I always had at least 4-6 people in my 5:30p classes. The new space only has classes until 12-12:30 which is truly not helpful for people with jobs! Overall, still a huge fan of barsculpt as a class but not a fan of the new space or business practices.

I like this place so much I bought a gift certificate for a friend so she could join me. She now goes as much as I do. She LOVES it. Confession: for a long time, I did not exercise (other than walking everywhere) because I found it boring. The workouts at Barsculpt always change. It is truly never the same thing twice. It's always a challenge. Going to Barscuplt not only help me get in the best shape of my life, it has help me calm down, feel centered, and more connected to the community of Portland. I cannot recommend this place highly enough.

I've been a member of Seacoast Kettlebell for a year now and hands down, it has been THE BEST gym…read moreexperience I've had. Here was my situation a year ago - most of my life, up until we had kids, I'd stayed in top shape with a combination of running, biking, climbing. . . etc. However, with 2 young kids under 4, at 39 years old, I found myself very out of shape. I'd tried the P90X and the INSANITY videos (which are great) but I'd never stick with them for more than a couple weeks. I needed exactly what Seacoast Kettlebell offered: - Intense, varied workouts that were 1 hour long and offered throughout the day at times that worked with my family, kid, work schedule - Accountability - coaches and others at the gym to push me when, if I was working out on my own, I would want to slack off. Everyone is friendly and the culture at SKB is to encourage each other. - Wholistic - the workouts, over the course of a week, address every aspect of fitness, from endurance to cardio to core strength and also flexibility. No home routine was giving me that. Keep in mind, though, that Seacoast Kettlebell is a CrossFit-affiliated gym - CrossFit is a philosophy & a method of training called H.I.I.T. used by some of the world's best athletes. At SKB, I have found that I'm training with SERIOUS athletes and I am always pushed to work hard. Some of these fellow SKB'ers are training for marathons/triathlons plus several UNH teams are trained by SKB - that said, there are always serious athletes at each class that really push me so I can make the most of the hour-long session. Some people will find that training at this level is not for them. SKB has a great one-month trial membership so you can give it 30-days to see if you like it.

I'm visiting from out of town and back home in California I'm a crossfitter. I have been attending…read morethis gym for 3 weeks (my stay here in New Hampshire) and have really enjoyed myself. Apparently this place used to be a crossfit, but it didn't work well for them so they dropped the name. Many of their exercises are similar however and what I found cool is that they do a lot of kettlebell work (in the name right? lol). I attended the large class and the more private smaller classes. Both are fine and incorporate weights with cardio. The exercises are varied and have left me sore, even considering I'm an avid crossfitter at home. There are a few things I don't like but I think it's more of where I come from and how I like to exercise so nothing really bad on the gym. I enjoy more pushing during my workout, like "you can do more weight, just add a little" or "you got this don't drop that weight." I personally find that encouragement helpful (not to injury of course). There are a LOT of instructors here and one or two I have noticed are helpful that way but not the majority. Although they don't claim to be a weight lifting gym, they do incorporate olympic weight lifting a little. My last and only real complaint I guess is that several of their instructors do not have a good knowledge base for weight lifting. It's not really their main thing nor is it heavily relied on in the workouts so not a giant deal. I'm not faulting them for this in my rating but I was really surprised that for example...depth in a squat was faulted by several instructors. Things like that make me put less weight on the bar during workouts here because I'm not confident personally to weight lift "alone" more or less. So if one wants olympic weight lifting or an emphasis on it, go somewhere else. However, for free weights, kettlebells and body weight movements/exercises this place is awesome and I definitely recommend. I will be returning when I come back!

Review of 6-Week Nutrition Program with Rebecca at Anytime Fitness - Northwood…read more I first saw advertising for a 6-week nutrition program offered by Rebecca at Anytime Fitness - Northwood. Like I usually do with programs outside my routine, I ignored it. But as the signup deadline approached, Rebecca mentioned it during one of her classes. This time, I decided to ask a few questions before brushing it off. Rebecca took the time to sit down with me and answer everything thoroughly. With plenty of others already signed up, she didn't need to give a hard sell -- and she didn't. It was clear she genuinely believed in the program and wanted to help people on their fitness journeys. I left our chat with all my questions answered and told her I'd sleep on it. The next day, I signed up. The onboarding process included paperwork, goal-setting, downloading a few apps, and a simple, non-invasive body scan. Rebecca guided me through it all with respect and professionalism. I received my body scan results immediately. With no previous scans to compare to, it simply gave me a baseline -- enough to identify where to focus. From there, I began logging my meals. I even bought a food scale to be as accurate as possible. I was all in. And then... I went on vacation. Like most people on vacation, I ate and drank freely. Portions didn't matter, and neither did ingredients or exercise. Still, I tried to log what I could -- often guessing. Once home, I returned to my usual exercise routine and improved my diet. But I had another family trip shortly after and again fell out of rhythm. Logging continued, but without much precision. Then came my mid-program scan. Compared to my baseline, my body composition had worsened. Rebecca reminded me the goal is progress, not perfection. Given my back-to-back trips, the result wasn't shocking -- but it wasn't the end, either. With no more travel planned, I refocused. I kept logging my meals, water, and workouts. Scheduled check-ins with Rebecca helped keep me on track. By the time my third scan came around, my results had improved -- significantly. Lean body mass was up, body fat down. Not only had I bounced back from the "bad scan," I surpassed my original baseline. For me, those first six weeks were about learning: how to log, use the tools, and better understand my body. I immediately signed up for another round to keep the momentum going. I highly recommend this program to anyone, regardless of age or body type. Logging meals can get tedious, but the insights you gain are well worth it. Often, real change happens beneath the surface, and this program helps uncover it. Rebecca is a gem. She's patient (even when you're complaining), positive, and full of sound, supportive advice -- never pushy, always encouraging. Most importantly, she's trustworthy. You can speak freely knowing your information stays confidential and judgment-free. No doubt about it -- this program is the real deal.
