I'm actually really sad to write this review because I've been coming to this salon for quite a while now and have always enjoyed my experiences here. But at this point, I honestly don't know if it's inflation or just inconsistent pricing, because what happened today felt really upsetting. I get the exact same service every single time I come in: regular dip on my natural nails, rounded shape, no tips, nothing extra. Switching between red or a natural pink. Today, I was charged $62.52 for that same exact service. The last time I came in, I got the exact same thing and paid around $50 before tip (and happily tipped on top of that). This time I noticed I was charged additional fees for things like a soak off, which is part of the dip process, and shaping my nails, even though my nails were already rounded and shaped the same as always. When I questioned the pricing, I was told they "didn't know who rang me up last time." You can see in the pictures that my nails were red and rounded and I paid 50+tip. The picture shows my nails are again red and rounded, but this time I'm paying 62+ without tip yet. It may not seem like a huge difference to some people, but it's the inconsistency and surprise charges that are disappointing, especially as someone who has consistently supported this business. I've attached photos comparing what I received previously versus this visit, and there was no difference in service to justify the increased cost especially within a month. Very unprofessional experience. I felt rushed from the moment I sat down. I specifically wanted acrylic, but they kept trying to convince me to get Gel-X simply because it would be faster for them. I shouldn't have to settle for a service I didn't ask for just because it's more convenient for the technician. They then switched me to another person. Once I showed him the design I wanted, he completely zoned out and stopped communicating with me. Then I was told to go back to the original person they had seated me with. They kept sending me back and forth between people, which made me feel like they simply didn't want to do my nails. On top of that, the nail tech I usually go to is no longer behind the front desk. I was told he was there when he actually wasn't, which was very disappointing. Overall, this was a 0/10 experience, and I would not recommend it. Attentive service. I had a pedicure and my mom had a manicure. The young lady at the front desk area was very understanding of the fact that my mom has had a stroke and needed someone who would be gentle and caring with her. Her one fist is balled up, and it takes effort to keep it open. They were very gentle with her, which I greatly appreciated. There are 20 spots for a pedicure and there were at least eight of us getting a pedicure at once. It wasn't too loud and the chairs were excellent. I love my nail tech Winnie! She's the best and very detailed. Super kind and the only tech I found that does my nails where they don't lift after a few weeks. Truth is I only come here because of my nail tech. If she's not there, I won't get my nails done here. I had a horrible experience before with my pedicure where it took 3 people to fix my nails because the polish was clumpy and smeared. I don't know why they just didn't say this polish won't work so I can just pick a different color. Instead they had me there for 1.5 hours and 3 tech later with everyone around just looking at my toes like I was freak on display. Ever since then, I never went back for a pedicure. Make sure you make an appointment or they'll tell you to pick a color and wait a few minutes. Few means 30 mins or more. It's all about the tech. an unfortunate reminder that you get what you pay for. i left this salon with an uneven french manicure, despite me clearly spelling out how to fix it. when trying to provide feedback, i was told that i was seeing things wrong yet i still left this salon with polish marks where they shouldn't be. not even 6 hours later, my nails chipped. i would not come to this salon if you're trying to do anything but a simple coat of polish. i will have to get this redone elsewhere. read more

I got my nails done 8/31 (dip powder) done by Bella and today 9/7, they are chipping. I paid 51.00 plus tip! I am NOT happy!! Definitely NOT going back there!! I've been coming to Avalon for over a year and I've had a few techs. I'm really pleased with everything. Every time I walk in, I notice how busy this salon stays. They probably have 20 nail techs and 10 pedicure techs actively working at all times. A pro about that is that they take walk ins. I really like the work that each person I've worked with does. I enjoy the quiet so they don't talk to me that much. I ask for intricate designs sometimes and they are able to nail every photo I bring in. They'll check with me first on color matching. If I'm not happy with anything, I'll mention it and they'll remove and redo. It definitely makes sense why they are a busy salon. They do great work here. read more

While the guy was shaping my nails he was looking at his phone instead of my nails and took too much of my nail off. I also asked for a certain color which was a white sparkle (171) and he insisted that the color 895 was the same and would not change it, and refused to show me that color. The technician was also adamant about adding more designs which I declined (now I know why). I think this has been the worst service I have ever experienced at a nail salon. Logan did my dip manicure and from the start it was horrible. He was in a rush and my nails were see through. Four days later, one of my nails broke and the dip came off and I came to get that fix + add a layer to the opaque nails. He again was in a rush and I had glue all over my nails. This was horrible. Also, the towels were previously used so that was actually disgusting. Can no longer recommend. Alex's work-product is not what it was (nails just looked "okay") and she's cancelled or moved appointments at the last minute which is sort of unheard of for a nail tech. All of which leads me to believe that something is "wrong/off." I hope she gets it back together. As for the place ... wasn't crazy about the cleanliness but put up with it because I liked the work product; now that it's no longer up to par, I realized when I went somewhere else (after yet another last minute cancellation) that Avalon is not changing towels at the work stations, they only have cold water at the sinks, and ... come to think about it, I have never seen anyone clean ANYTHING there. What i wanted : a pretty manicure before my vacation. What i got : A rude staff, my finger cut and a half ass job! I don't often do my nails and this was my 1st time at Avalon, so was hoping for some guidance but this staff was so impatient and did not want to hear what i was saying. She was rushing through the cuticle shaping, hurting me the whole time and even cut my finger, SHE DIDNT EVEN APOLOGISE. all she said was 'don't touch it' . She didnt care to correct the shaping even when I continued to say i wanted it short and thin manicure ( like the reference) she even got annoyed when I wanted to change the color in one finger!! My nail looks like a DIY work and they charged me 50+ for this lumpy gel nails. A deep manicure, I didn't want and ' a nail design' fee because I asked for different colors (SERIOUSLY!!) She was soo distracted and the whole time looking at the door at who's coming in. I know for a fact i got a horrible staff because the staff next to us was sweet and was checking-in on the client. The pedicure person kept trying to up sale my pedicure and told me how awful it was that I was not getting gel. Also, they say students get a 10% discount on their website but then their manager refused to actually honor that and gave me 5% off and some how it only saved me like $3 dollars. My nails came out okay. Not exactly what I expected but still very pretty. I wish they informed me before that the CatEye gel I got was an extra $20. Also the shape I got was square but I was charged an extra $5 for coffin shape and my nails are nowhere near coffin. As a joke this sassy front desk CHILD comments loudly "Um hello, I can hear you're on the line, did you need something" & when you respond, only to have childish laughing, "Oh I forgot you were on the phone & I didn't notice I took you off mute, what do you want?" This is the only nail salon I will go to and my family and friends know it! I come for acrylic nails, manicures, eye brow tints and for the massage chairs! I don't know how or why but only when I get my nails done at Avalon they stay for almost a month! And great shaping skills no matter the tech. I don't ask for the same person ever, somehow I just know no matter who I get it will be fine and if it wasn't the manager is always there and she seems to be very hands on making sure everyone is happy. Max did my nails today and he was just the sweetest. He asked me nice questions but also could tell I was tired and when I put my headphones in to just zone out he picked up on it and respected it. He asked to make sure the shape and length were to my liking, and offered me water or wine! Just love this place, even over the years when I lived 20 minutes west I drove here. 7/28/17 Update: Laura and Kayna provide stellar service and we're very attentive to details! Recommend either manicurist! After a stressful long week came here to relax and get a pedicure. They have a selection of different services they provide for pedicure and manicure depending on what yon want but I choose the classic pedi (25$). I made an appointment because I came with two girlfriends and due to the location this place seems to always be busy. The massage chairs are awesome! This place is very clean which I LOVE! They always place a new plastic bag to cover the tub were you soak your feet so bacteria isn't lingering around from previous people. They also use individual pre-packaged instruments so you know they are sterile. The duration of the pedicure was a little short and I wish she would have spent more time massaging my feet but I was happy with the results overall. read more

They're OK. My nails look ok, but there was so much that was not ok. The place doesn't look very clean. They've got 1 tiny sink to wash your hands and the roll of paper just sits on the counter for you to tear a sheet off. There are marks all over where it looks like when something was spilled on a wall or on a drawer, it wasn't wiped down, it was just left there. There's an old dude who walks around and hovers over each technician as if he is a schoolteacher and they're all still learning. But, you've no idea why he's there because they're all not speaking English. I had booked both a manicure and a pedicure, but as my tech was finishing up my manicure, someone pointed to a woman behind me and suddenly I'm having to wait for the pedicure because this other customer was there. I don't know if she had an appointment or not but I did have an appointment! But, at that point after everything else I said forget the pedicure and I paid and left. So ... the uncleanliness could be because they're getting ready to move supposedly in the next couple of weeks. I might look inside when I go over to Whole Foods and see what it looks like. But if it's anything of my recent experience, I will not be going back.
