    Mustard Green Spinach Tofu Burrito
    Maggie W.

Came here after a long hike at Mt Tam, and wow the food here really hits the spot! My friend has been here a couple of times before and recommended I try the mustard green tofu burrito. There is a blend of so many flavors inside: the mustard greens, tofu, fruit chutney, rice, pickled carrot, etc. Each bite is savory, rich, and fulfilling. The clever usage of Indian bread around to hold it all together is such a good decision/idea! I've had Indian Pizza before, but haven't ever had an Indian burrito. Avatars Restaurant does just the right twist on a classic staple! Low key going to plan future hikes to Mt Tam just so I can come back here to try more of the burritos and the plates. Heads up: cash or Venmo only! And the seating inside is limited, but creates a nice cozy vibe. Service was quick, and you could tell from the interactions with the customers that this place is a beloved hometown classic as well as a worthwhile stop for those passing through.

Yummy burritos with an Indian cuisine twist. Yes, they offer the same meals in plates instead of burritos as well, but I got the burrito! They only accept cash or Venmo, no credit card! Got the curried pumpkin burrito with curried lamb and a curried lamb burrito. I was not expecting ground lamb for the meat, I was hoping it would be shredded lamb at least. However, the curry did not disappoint, lots of flavor and good portion of meat. I felt the burrito was missing something, like a fresh flavor or crunch. While eating the burrito, I thought it would be great to have some type of crunch like fresh or pickled radish inside. To my surprise, there were some pickled carrots way at the bottom of the burrito, for both burritos. Also, would have been great to have some fresh herbs or a cream sauce to go with the burrito, that would make it 5 stars for me! Overall, a tasty burrito, but could use an upgrade and more even portion of ingredients inside the burrito!

We tried the curry lamb burrito, curry lamb burrito with sweet potato, the roasted eggplant burrito, and the blackened veggie burrito with salmon. All of the burritos were similar in profile: flavorful but mostly one-note. The lamb was tender. The burritos had a lot of rice which hides the other ingredients a bit. The fruit chutney was a nice addition in terms of sweetness and texture variation. But the burritos needed yogurt (we didn't see any) and cilantro or something to offset the singular curry taste.

Food was delicious. I had a lovely open faced chicken tikka masala burrito. The ambiance inside is just ok. We sat outside on a picnic table but they didn't have any heaters.

We asked for chicken tikka masala for our kids. They provided chicken that appeared not fully cooked with no sauce.

We sat outside with our dog, and enjoyed hot chai, papadum, carried chicken with vegetable and curried lamb with smoked eggplant. The plates were beautiful, as well as delicious and a little spicy. It was just the right amount to eat without having to bring a cooler and take food home. Highly recommend the food, friendly woman, and choice of indoor or outdoor seating. Hope they get a larger place someday since things were hopping and they appear to be doing well.

Curry chicken in the burrito was dry. Otherwise flavor was good. Pumpkin was good. Food came out quick. Would give this place a second chance.

Avatar's is probably one of the best restaurants I've visited in the bay area since a long time. If anyone is visiting Sausalito/Marin County, this is a must visit - I cannot stress enough! It is a quaint joint very close to the Sausalito boardwalk. We were hosted by Mr Ashok who was very excited to know that we are vegetarians and offered to decide what we would like the most and we loved the whole spread! The whole spread was vegan, and very light yet flavorful- Saag tofu was actually made with leaves of sweet potato plant which was mind blowing. The enchiladas had a taro filling, and were topped with curry sauce which had an amazing balance of flavors The ravioli was stuffed with tofu and methi, and the sauce was nice and tangy. We were extremely happy with the personal attention we got, and since the restaurant wasn't super crowded, we were served pretty fast.

Cute little Indian restaurant run by owner Ashok in Mill Valley. They have another in Sausalito as well. After hiking up Mt. Tam ventured to this place for some hot chai and some food recommended by my hiking buddy. Tucked in a quite street in downtown with outside patio dining options, the quick service and food was tasty. Although to my palette, spice level is little mild catering to local community. I had their salmon plate with rice, my friend had special roti and mixed veg curry. Had nice brief convo with owner Ashok about recent celebrity cricket sports players guests from India (Sunil Gavaskar, Kirmani, and others) and about politics in India. Check it out if you are in the neighborhood for some Indian cuisine and chai!

Super unexpected flavor layers- get it!

Delicious!!! Quick, friendly service, great location. It's a messy "burrito" made from what I believe is makki di roti, loosely wrapped around a delicious, in my case, roasted eggplant and lamb curry with rice. Ugh. So good! The dessert was such a lovely, surprisingly refreshing treat! Rich cheesecake consistency, topped with pistachios and served with some kind of fruit sauce. 5/5! Great spot for a quick delicious meal!

I visited Avatar's with a group of friends after a hike in Mt. Tam because a few in our group had been there previously and highly recommended it. The staff were very accommodating and were able to seat our group of five without much of a wait. The ambiance was pretty standard, but nice and warm on a cool night. Our server was very kind and explained the menu to us, but also emphasized that we could kind of "DIY" a meal if we wanted to. We shared the vegetarian samosa plate and paratha with chutneys. I had two Pubjabi enchiladas, one with beef and one with chicken. It was fine, but nothing to write home about. I think that the menu is very creative, and I like that they blend cuisines that are not typically fused, but to me the food was just ok. I would recommend to try if you are interested in the novelty aspect, but I probably won't go again.

The flavors were authentic and flavorful without being overly Americanized. The pork curry was absolutely delicious and is definitely a must-order. I also got the tea leaf salad and immediately wished I had ordered the large because you can never have enough tea leaf salad. The palata was a great starter -- flaky, warm, and exactly what you'd want. The miso black cod was another standout. The broth it was simmered in was incredibly flavorful, and the fish was perfectly cooked. The garlic noodles were also done really well with the right noodles and great flavor -- honestly better than some places known specifically for garlic noodles. And of course, the coconut rice is always worth ordering. We skipped dessert since nothing really stood out, but I would love to see them add more traditional Burmese desserts like faluda in the future. Parking wasn't too difficult, especially if you circle around the back neighborhood area. The wait was reasonable, the outdoor patio seating was nice, and the service was attentive throughout the meal. Definitely a spot I'd come back to when craving Burmese food.

They've been there often, it seems. I'd be pleased to join them there again. We had a pho and a noodle dish. We split the shishito peppers. My wife prefers less spicy. I'm the opposite. We order calibrated for her. They did fine. My wife remarked afterward it was "Americanized." That is true. It's not necessarily bad. It isn't just Asian cuisines; it's Italian too, and I'd bet just about every other tradition. There is a distinct American version, which an historian could figure out the relationship to the original for, for any "ethnic" dish you'll encounter stateside. Service was brisk. The staff was friendly, and the restaurant has a great atmosphere. Our disappointment was solely with the food. The Pad Thai was, without question, the worst Pad Thai I've ever had. It arrived cold to lukewarm, lacked any flavor (some thought it tasted like soap?), and was honestly unappetizing. Multiple people in our group ordered it, and every single person had the same reaction after taking a few bites. Not one of us was able to make a dent in the meal. We also ordered the green curry, yellow curry, and potstickers. Unfortunately, those dishes were subpar as well and didn't make up for the experience. We did let the manager know about our concerns before leaving. I'm writing this review in the hope that the restaurant takes the feedback seriously and considers improving the recipes. This place has a lot of potential, it's in a great location and seems like it could be a great spot for both small and large groups, but the food simply doesn't live up to it.

I went in curious and optimistic -- unfortunately, the experience fell flat almost immediately. Upon entering, no one acknowledged us or greeted us at the door. For a restaurant that presents itself as modern and slightly upscale, that lack of front-of-house awareness was noticeable and set an awkward tone from the start. We ordered the vegetable cake, a dish I'm very familiar with and usually love. Texturally, it was decent -- soft inside with a lightly crisp exterior -- but the flavor missed the mark. It tasted under-seasoned yet strangely heavy, with an excess of oil that lingered on the palate. Instead of feeling clean and balanced, it felt weighed down. For context, Palate Garden Party executes this dish far better: brighter flavor, better seasoning, and far less grease -- and at a lower price point. Even with the longer drive, the difference in quality makes it worth it. Dessert was a banana sesame roll dumpling dish that sounded promising on paper. The first bite was interesting, but that novelty disappeared quickly. The dumpling skin was far too thick and overly crunchy, almost stale-textured, which overwhelmed the filling. The interior lacked cohesion and finesse, and the cinnamon flavor felt muddled rather than intentional. We didn't finish it. Across the board, the food leaned excessively greasy, to the point where it didn't feel good to eat. I left feeling heavy and uncomfortable rather than satisfied. The flavors never quite came together, the quality didn't feel refined, and there wasn't enough charm or warmth to compensate for the technical misses. Overall, this isn't a place I'd return to or recommend. There are far better options for Chinese food that offer cleaner flavors, better execution, and a more thoughtful dining experience.

I felt like my party was greeted with annoyance and while we were seated quickly, about 5-10 minutes into being seated, we were asked to move to accommodate a larger party (it ended up working out because the area we were moved to was cozier) and didn't receive much help from the server with moving our drinks.
