    ground lamb enchilada
    Christine M.

Super easy to get seated on a saturday afternoon. What stood out about this place was the fun fusion of flavors and warm, welcoming waiter. Enchiladas were yummy and satisfying, not super heavy or large portion but tasty. Rose mango ravioli was very unique. It was creamy and I'd say the rose and mango paired well together. Both dishes made the perfect sweet and savory combo.

We asked the waiter what the dish was we saw online and he said it's not on the menu. He said it's blackened chicken and they can make it zero spicy to extra spicy. He said it has grilled vegetables and basmati rice. The picture looked amazing so I ordered it. The sauce was delicious. Half of the chicken was tender and unfortunately the other half was not. I don't like it when stems of the vegetables are not removed. I think it takes away from the dish. The vegetables were grilled which I enjoyed. Great tasting rice. Service was very good. The restaurant has a low vibe at lunch time.

Avatars ended up being the best kind of unexpected find. I walked in not knowing what to expect and left genuinely impressed with the service, the food, and the whole experience were outstanding. Every dish felt thoughtful and fresh, and the staff made the meal feel personal in a way you don't get often anymore. I tried something new here and loved it enough that I'm already planning to bring my whole family back soon. It's rare to leave dinner feeling inspired, but Avatars absolutely delivered. Great photo decor and vibe. They have both indoor/outdoor seating areas. Highly recommend.

We saw the menu and were intrigued so we came to check it out. The mushroom app was really flavorful. The curry was delicious and the paratha were necessary to soak it all up! The mango rose ravioli was super unique. The sauce was creamy and the slight sweetness of the rose and mango paired well. The enchiladas were delicious! It was mashed sweet potato inside and the creamy texture with the flavorful sauce was a nice pairing! The dessert was fine, but I was a little underwhelmed and disappointed. They have a nice outdoor seating area which is great on a warm summer afternoon. The service was fine and I appreciated that he wanted to put in our order before a larger party. It was really confusing to order the enchiladas because we wanted to mix and match but he didn't understand that at first and when he did, he said we couldn't do that. We ordered veggies on the side and got rice instead so they had to remake it. Another server asked if we wanted paratha with our app and we figured it was one order but they just ordered a double portion. I had heard mixed reviews about the service and I would agree with those.

It's been several years since I wrote a review on Avatar's, and I figured it was time that I update my thoughts. The flavors of the entrees continue to be incredible. The proteins are cooked well, and the vegetables still have a bit of crunch -- which I love because I cannot stand soggy vegetables. Service continues to be excellent. The interior is well decorated and inviting. There is indoor and outdoor seating depending on your preference and the weather. While there is a menu you can order from, you can also ask the owner to make you a dish based on the protein, veggies, and spice level you would like. A few logistic things: There's a free parking lot, and you can order food to pick up ahead of time.

Neat little spot! Owner was very welcoming and accommodating, including allowing me to mix and match the proteins in my enchiladas! Ended up eating here two days in a row, including bringing a group of friends who were recording at a nearby record studio the following day. Interesting menu choices, so everyone should be able to find something they enjoy!

    Perfect samosas!

Honestly, Avatar's is my husband and I's favorite Indian(ish) restaurant in the Bay Area. Their samosas are always so delicious and perfectly crispy on the outside with amazing sauces, and we love getting their off-menu basmati rice dishes with a combo of sea bass and prawn. They don't use oil, dairy, gluten, and my body always feels so clear and clean after I eat here! There's so much love in the food. Highly, highly recommend!

Great customer service! Everybody there was so sweet and friendly. Food was delicious! We usually go to the mill valley location which is more of a grab and go but this location is perfect for a sit down lunch date!

Delicious spot for a punjabi burrito! The whole wheat wrap was not too thick and there was a nice ratio of curry meat, pickled vegetables and rice. The curry itself was great - the tamarind really comes through giving the sweet and tangy flavor, very enjoyable.

Food is amazing with a twist. We ordered curried rock shrimp, seasonal mixed vegetables with fish, dal curry and home made pasta for kids. The staff is nice. Helped us with everything the kids needed. Nice cozy restaurant on the way to San Francisco. Definitely recommend as I'll be going again.

"Rock Shrimp in Fresh Chutney" but its small white shrimp which is misleading and fraudulent
    Dietrich K.

Pains me to give them this rating, the owner here is very nice, however he seems reluctant to change for bad items and mistakes. The other day I ordered 2 mango lassis and a rock shrimp chutney. Mango Lassis were amazing, smooth, rich, and creamy. However the rock shrimp were not rock shrimp. They were sad tiny little bay shrimp instead. I let him know the next day and after refusing a refund I got replacement items, another 2 mango lassis and samosa chaat. On top of this he showed me the "rock shrimp" they use, which turned out to be a frozen bag of white shrimp. I advised him to fix it on the menu but not sure he will do that. When i got home and tastes the new mango lassis, i noticed a drastic difference from yesterdays. Todays was very sour and bad and I wont risk getting sick on bad yogurt. I called him to let him know first but he just said thats how it is. So if how it is, is misleading customers and serving food/drinks that can get people sick, then I have to advise anyone to either go somewhere else or be very critical of things you eat here for your safety.

Empty plates = happy hearts! Avatar in Sausalito is a flavor explosion you don't want to miss. No menu needed--just tell Ashok Kumar what you're craving, and he'll create magic. A true fusion gem!

Great food and service! Very warm, welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommend. The menu is Punjabi fusion. There are Mexican fusion dishes, like the Punjabi enchiladas. These are very popular and quite good. You can choose almost any kind of meat or veggie (except pork), and you can specify how spicy you like it. We chose spicy shrimp, and they were delicious! We also split the yoghurt chicken, which came out looking more like a mole or a curry because of the cashew mango chutney sauce. The chicken was incredibly tender and delicious. The veggies were wonderful. Both dishes came with basmati rice with peas. So soft and fluffy, with a hint of saffron. Loved it! Also, we started with samosas, which were crunchy on the outside, filled with tasty potatoes and peas on the inside. So good! My friend and I ordered sabe cocktails, which was the only thing we did not love. Ashok (the owner) came to greet us and answered all our questions. While we considered what to order, Ashok was chatting away with locals who have been coming to Avatar's for years. He seemed to know their families and favorite foods. So nice to see! Parking is easy to find in the lot, especially when Bank of Marin is closed. Very cozy seat set up, mostly tables for two. Overall, enjoyed this place and will be coming back. I wish I had discovered this place much sooner.

Tauhid, I don't think so, the best thing to do is call them and ask for Ashtook, the owner. I know that they do vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free, but not kosher.

The energy in the restaurant is lively and loud. There were people watching the game at the bar and many parties chatting it up around you. It's a great atmosphere and perfect for a night out. Started off with chips and salsa. The chips were on the thicker side, which I think made the chips crispier if you're into that. It came with two salsas (salsa verde and red salsa). The salsa verde had a fresh, bright flavor with a nice tang. Ironically, the red salsa was a lot milder. It had a slightly sweet, bold flavor but still tasted a bit watery. I ordered the fish tacos, but found they were a miss for me. The accompanying sauces didn't add much to the flavor profile. The toppings and sauce were watery, leaving the overall taste bland. On the other hand, the lamb birria was a hit, but I think I would have preferred a traditional beef birria instead. Had a strong gamey flavor I couldn't ignore. The food did not live up to their presentation. I did enjoy the atmosphere and service, but the food fell flat for me. If I could describe this experience, it would be disappointing.

This place has a nice typical burger-joint kind of vibe. We were worried about getting a seat since we were a group of 10, but we got seated within 5 mins of arriving, no reservations needed. Ordered: 1) Napa Truffle Fries: 5/5 2) Seasoned Fried: 4/5 3) Silverado Veggie Burger: 5/5 - Housemade patty. Omg, this was delicious! Ever since I first heard about Fish oh so long ago, I'd been wanting to try them, but just never had much of a reason to come here. Other than to, you know, eat here. However, I had so much faith, in fact, that I even recommended this place to my buddy before I even made my way here. Thankfully, they didn't let me down, as both he and his wife loved the food here! More importantly, now that I've been, so do we! Although it takes a little bit of work to find them (they're on Bridgeway, but away from the touristy part and set back in a marina), Fish is well worth the effort. Not only is the vibe cozy and relaxed, but they've got a ton of seating both inside and out (love sitting by the water!). And, of course, the menu is awesome, as it's filled with so many options, from chowders, raw oysters, and salads to seafood entrees, pastas, and, of course, fish & chips. Plus, they also have menu boards highlighting the day's selection of raw oysters, crab, fresh fish, special entrees, "fish bits", and desserts that are just as interesting and unique! -- WHITE CHOWDER - Traditional New England Clam Chowder with Surf Clams, Cream, Bacon, Potatoes, Onion, Celery, White Wine, and Dried Herbs This was terrific! Although it could've been slightly thicker/chunkier, I liked the consistency of this - smooth but with chunks of potatoes. I also really liked how tender and meaty the clam was, too! -- RAW OYSTERS - Shigoku Oysters (WA) I had never even heard of Shigoku oysters before these, but they were terrific! The oysters were about medium sized with deep shells, which made them super to eat and I liked how they had a bit of sweetness and a bright finish to them. -- WHOLE ROASTED DUNGENESS CRAB with Tomato Sugo Drawn From Roasted Crab Shells over Soft Polenta I don't often order whole crabs like this at restaurants, but this was undeniably tasty. Aside from how messy this was to eat, the crab was sweet, the legs were pretty meaty, and I really liked how the sugo helped reinforce the taste of crab with the polenta. -- PASTA CON VONGOLE - Clams Served over Fresh Housemade Organic Egg and Semolina Linguine with Olive Oil, Butter, White Wine, Garlic, and Red Chili Flake LOVED that they didn't skimp on the clams, which were all so good, as well as the sauce and how it had a slight kick to it. The pasta had a very bouncy bite, too, but I wish there had been more of it and that it was able to hold onto the sauce better. -- FISH & CHIPS - Crispy Beer-Battered Local Rock Cod Served with Housemade Tartar Sauce and Wedge Fries Maybe my hopes/expectations were too high, as this was more decent than amazing. Mainly, while the batter was crispy-ish on the outside, it was a bit mushy on the inside. Still, the cod itself was pretty good and I liked the fries - crisp and not too potato-y. -- GRILLED CALIFORNIA HAMACHI with Housemade Pasta, Shishito Pepper-Cilantro Pesto, and Parmesan I'm so glad we pivoted to this when we saw it on the board - it was so good! The piece of hamachi was sizable, moist, and flavorful while the pasta was just as bouncy and held onto the sauce. If only they didn't use cilantro in their pesto (blech). Despite how Fish's food didn't amaze like how I had hoped it would, I think that has a lot more to do with the high hopes (expectations?) that had built up from the anticipation of finally coming here than anything else. Really, the only thing that might have been an actual bummer was the Fish & Chips, but even then, it was still notably better than others I've had. Besides, it's not like there's a shortage of delicious to pivot to instead! Fish, you'll definitely be seeing me again!
