One of the best indian Cafés I've ever tried. Service was very friendly and helpful in choosing my dishes, professional and welcoming. Food was amazing, I had some whole wheat chapati, chicken samosas, and spinach kebab with sauces. Very flavourful and complex in taste, simple at the same time. I'd go back again next time I'm going to San Francisco. I ate outside in the Sun, which made the experience even better, as I was soaking up all the sunny weather I could.

It was my first time to ever try Indian food. Friend noted it is not that great. It was good enough for a first timer like me. My friend and I loved the chicken (with soup in the picture) with the naan bread. The naan bread was truly yummy. Barbecue chicken for first timers like me was yummy. Service was slow and terrible though. We decided not to order extra naan bread since the service was really slow. At the time of our visit, place wasn't busy. There were only three filled tables including ours.

Working in Sausalito, CA for the day. This place was one of the few restaurants open this early in the morning 10:30am. Choices limited I'm this are during this time. I'm glad I stopped here, the good was piping HOT. I ordered the Butter Chicken Platter. Came w/all the fixings, basmati rice, Nan, desert. Pretty & beautiful area to walk by around... ocean views just a few feet away (around the corner) Street parking, one restroom (gender neutral)small dining indoors & outside patio seating as well.

I came to Sartaj on a weekday evening and it was easy to get a table inside. It's such a cute place on the outside and cozy inside. My favorite thing about Sartaj is that they have dairy chai and a dairy-free chai! PLUS, it is available during dinner for costumers to serve themselves. The food was super yummy! I usually go to another spot, but Sartaj has become my favorite! Definitely recommend coming hear for a delicious meal.

Sartaj is a North Indian restaurant with outdoor and indoor dining. The chicken tikka marsala with basmati rice I had for a late lunch was tepid (not hot). I also ordered almond milk chai. The dispenser for this is self service but only had a mouthful's worth. Had to wait a long, long time to get my beverage. The place was super busy mid afternoon! Guess the kitchen was too swamped with groups of (majority) Indian diners. But that's a good sign, right? On the fence about trying again as the chicken was dry and needed salt. A local place to enjoy some OK Indian food. The chai could be stronger and more authentic.

Horrible service. Food takes forever to come out and when it arrives it's cold. Tons of better alternatives in the area.

There's something for everyone here. I was impressed to see a gluten-free vegetarian samosa in the apps! I have a few gluten-free friends so this would be great for them to come a try! On top of that, Avatar's takes pride in being open to accommodate to customers' dietary requqests as best they can, so the menu isn't extremely fixed. Their food and service are top notch! For my first visit, we were greeted warmly and were able to get a table right away since we went at an off peak dining hour. I'm easy, I just went with Dahl and Basmati. It's my favorite thing even tho it's super basic. The dahl was packed full of flavor, eating it was such a delight. I hope someday they'll create a vegan-friendly dessert or even a vegan Mango Lassi. I can't wait for my next visit when I'm in the area.

We had the dal, chapathi, and jerk chicken salad, all of which were tasty, well-seasoned, and satisfying without being overdone. What really stood out was the owner, who is a consummate host. Great spot for clean, comforting food and a warm, personal dining experience.

Surprised I haven't reviewed this place yet as we've been here multiple times…read more We love coming to this place not only for the food but the wonderful owners. This time, we got the potato cheese balls and the chicken curry combo platter. The combo is priced at $23 and gives you plenty of food such as the curry, lentils, spinach, rice, papadum, salad, another tomato based sauce, and funds it out with rice pudding. This combo platter is easily enough to feed two people or to have plenty of extras to take home. We asked for medium spicy but I think their mild mean no spicy, their medium means a hint of spicy, and their hot means normal spicy. Everything was perfectly seasoned. Each table is decorated nicely with a small pot of wild flowers created right there before dinner service. The owners are a family combo and check in with you throughout. They always serve with a smile. We love the decor in here and the large amount of plants, especially the climbing pothos stemming from the fountain in the center of the restaurant. I would say this is a great place to have a date or celebration and I'd encourage others to come.

Over the last few years, I've worked my way through nearly the entire menu and brought numerous guests here; every single one has left impressed. The interior is peaceful and welcoming, but it's the owners who truly make the experience. Their warmth and genuine hospitality--whether we are dining in or picking up takeout--make it a genuine pleasure to support this business. The food is nothing short of phenomenal. The curries are rich and deeply flavorful without ever being greasy. Here are the standouts I find myself ordering on repeat: Himalayan Goat Curry & Himalayan Lamb Curry: Both feature incredibly tender meat in aromatic, rich gravies. The goat curry, in particular, is a less dry version of Sukha Gosht--you can tell it's been slow-cooked for hours. Fish Coconut Curry: Perfectly cooked salmon in a decadent, and beautifully spiced coconut curry sauce. It ties with the goat curry as my absolute favorite. Aloo Bodi & Tama: This Nepalese dish was a new discovery for me. The contrast between the crunchy bamboo shoots and creamy potatoes/black-eyed peas is superb, and the spices never overwhelm the vegetables. The Classics (Dal, Palak Paneer, Chicken Tikka Masala): The Dal is pure comfort (exactly like my mother's!), and the Palak Paneer tastes like it came straight from an authentic Punjabi dhaba. Their Chicken Tikka Masala is a close second to the famous version at the iconic Chor Bazaarr restaurant in London--tangy, spicy, and delicious. A true local treasure!

Lots of cauliflower and broccoli. - Great naan. The best recommendation I can give you, though, is to order their grape juice. By that, I actually mean juice as in non-alcoholic, not wine, which is technically also grape juice ;) They have this Navarro Pinot Grape Juice that we ordered to try out once, and now we are obsessed. Service can be a tad slow, whether it's busy or not, but the food is always very fresh and worth it. They say on the menu which items can take a little longer as well (momos are like 20 minutes, for instance). They are always friendly and welcoming.

We came to Himalayan Sherpa Kitchen for dinner on a Saturday night. It was packed. Things were a bit slow, but not in a bad way, it seemed like there were only two people at front of house for a full restaurant. We were seated pretty quickly though. We shared the veggie momos (Nepali dumplings), tikka masala, and garlic basil naan. The flavors and spices were very delicious. My fiancé adored every last bite. I found some of the chicken in our tikka to be over cooked, but otherwise everything was great. I'd recommend this spot for a yummy dinner.
