Great atmosphere and service. The owner is one of the nicest people you will ever meet.

This place is very subconsciously racist. All the bartenders are white (just like Blend). Feels like a sun down town outside of security. Security will comstantly hit on your drunk friends and no one stops them, this is even when the women are clearly not interested. It is extremely uncomfortable. The music is awful, you have to make the best of it. But after going there for a couple months the music is simply catered to a white and latin crowd. I do not hear anything current or relevant when I am there. Me and my gf usually go there because its close and thats it. We are usually the only ones that truly dance and are the reason alot of folks said they enjoyed their time (even though they agree the music and atmosphere sucks- it looks like NY ). We have never got offered free drinks or anything complimentary for attracting a crowd or bringing friends. Everywhere else, this is usual when attracting customers for a bar. Too much staff... It is not POC friendly. I have heard almost everyone I know complain about the demographics and the bad music. I also see alot of DL men hovering by the bar in bulk so I am guessing it may be catered to them they tend to by the most drinks. I have had many friends there make the same statement. Overall, just leave this one alone and go to Islanders. More POC, more diversity in staff, no awkward fake moments with the Owner (who is as uptight as they come), and more fun people. You will likely leave aftera couple drinks.... Thats what they want. They scam and play a couple fo songs so you buy buy buy and leave without dancing or if you do its to 50 cent and Lil John like you in 8th grade Bad business.... Trust me. I dance all the time. I try to be nice to the DJs because I can't tell if their fault or the owners either way. I won't go unless I am desperate. Unfortunately, this business doesn't keep up with the times. No stars from me. Staff is creepy. If you are a drunk woman stay tf away because the bartender or security will get at you and keep bothering you all night. read more

Wanted to give this place a chance but their true colors have really shown through. Recently saw their staff verbally mistreated and put their hands on a queer woman of color when she came to TALK and express a concern. If they were a genuine business, they would (and should) communicate and take accountability of such an altercation rather than send staff members here to make fresh positive reviews for damage control. Just because you slap a rainbow flag on a poster doesn't mean you don't have to put effort into real life interactions and situations. Would give it no stars just for the fact they have and unprofessional bouncer.look I understand a dress code and ok with leaving. But when you're in a tank top showing off all your tattoos and have headphones around your neck. Isn't that classy. Second highly inappropriate to check another man's wife and try to get her in the bar and tell her she's more than ok to come in but not me. The Ave pretends to be an open and inclusive space for all but definitely caters to the old white crowd in Stockton with a sprinkle of Latino. With as much black and brown people that are out here, you'd think the music, atmosphere, and staff would reflect that... There's way too many white staff, the music is trash or hella old, and they almost always close super early because the vibe is so off people stay for 1 drink (maybe) and then leave. For being a spot close to a college campus and being in business for 15 years, they're really bad about drawing in a crowd and keeping them... We want to hear music that's bumping, but instead hear 50 cent, Lil Jon, or random 80s music because the owner doesn't want it to get too "ratchet." If it wasn't super close, my girlfriend and I would not be showing up. I don't recommend going here if you're trying to actually dance and have a good time with your friends. 1/5 stars read more

This place is a hit and miss. If you stay too late be ready for some SHENANIGANS. While you can't control who comes in and out of your business the owner has always been on top of keeping this lounge a safe place. He's almost always behind the bar and every time my girls and I have had an issue here it takes one look and he's got it handled. The drinks are good, the music is great, and I swear they invite professionals to karaoke night! Stopped in here early for a little happy hour with a friend and got lucky because there was hardly anyone inside yet. We sat at the bar and had some appetizers that were 3 stars, but had some yummy drinks that were 4 stars for sure! The bartender was nice and attentive. And ladies....check out their Sex and the City drink menu. Try the Charlotte. It's got a cool Tiffany's blue color (the drink is aka Tiffany's) and it tastes DELISH!!!! Ladies, it's a MUST TRY! Came here to try the bottomless mimosa brunch with my friend on the weekend. Service: Our waiter was really friendly and made sure I had everything I needed as I was waiting for my friend to come. They made good recommendations on what to get. Ambiance: Cool looking place on the mile. I like that it has a more modern vibe but you can tell that it's made for people to come at night. Food: It was okay, nothing too spectacular. I like the various options they gave on the menu but it seemed like just any other place. Nothing really stood out to me when I left. Not from the area, but was looking for a a lowkey but fun atmosphere tonight and this was it! Found this little gem on yelp. Cover charge at the door for not being full was kind of shady bring that it was an empty night. My bartender was great. She made the perfect Tequila Sunrise and Jameson on the rocks with a splash of ginger ale. It's hard to find a good mixologist sometimes, but she was great. Everything tastes as expected but better. The atmosphere was modern and edgy. Clean and great music. I'll try this place in the day time for their food menu and drinks. Didn't get my bartender name (platinum blonde). This is a nice place located in a nice area of Stockton great atmosphere great first impression and a quaint setting. As soon as I walked in the bartender was very welcoming a little bit later Kevin the owner introduced himself to us and was a very very nice person. We just stopped by for a drink but quickly convinced that the new chef is absolutely amazing and we would be at a loss if we didn't try at least one item. I tried the persimmon dessert and it was amazing. The crabcakes as well as many of the other entrées on the menu looked very good and I'm sure tasted just as good unfortunately I wasn't very hungry but I will definitely plan to be here for a good meal the next time I'm in town. I was on the way home with my boyfriend but decided to drop by. It was about 12:45 am. I was surprised they charged $20 for per person to go in. We paid the entrance fee and checked out their night life on miracle mile. We ordered drinks, two beers and two shots= $24, not bad. The bartenders were friendly and quick to pour drinks. My boyfriend I went outside to hangout because it was crowded inside. The guy next to us kept bumping into me and I had to move. Perhaps I'm biased because of the company I had, but certainly with any place the overall experience tends to skew things in either a negative or positive light. In this case, this was exactly what me and my friend were looking for and it provided an amazing evening. The decor is simple with lowered lights. So first off, Yael (I hope I'm getting this right lol) you're awesome. Assistance with drinks was awesome, and conversation was also good. Made for a great evening. I learned over the course of the night that this place had been here for 7 years. Cool little spot, lots of comfy seating, good whiskey selection of which we had depleted part of apparently. I'm never in the area but possibly better I didn't know of it, might just end up drinking too often haha. The noise level was never too much, but it was enough to keep things between us conversationally. As far as the food goes, we had the mac n cheese, then the mac n cheese with pesto, then the thai peanut flatbread. The flatbread was good, but honestly with some chopped fresh green onion or crumbled peanuts after it would've been better imo xD. Just needed a texture change of sort. The chicken and flatbread had similar textures and consistency. Just needed something. Anyway, the mac n cheese was delightful. Well balanced. Not too salted or buttered as far as the crunch on top. The mac n cheese with pesto though... That's the noms. If I didn't have to worry about my waistline in any way I'd find a way to eat that most of the week. I was nicely surprised at the quality of food and the care that went into its preparation. The artichoke spinach dip had a touch of jalapeño that was super tasty. The pita chips were not dry from the bag chips they were freshly fried. My husband had the steak special with mashed potatoes and grilled veggies. Everything was cooked perfectly and spiced with the perfect spices. I had a simple wedge salad. The bacon was crispy and very flavorful, the dressing and blue cheese crumble was the perfect amount. Not overwhelming. Even the hard boiled egg was cooked right and seasoned nicely. We really enjoyed it. Especially nice to find this place on a total whim and have it be so yummy. read more

My son took me to the AVE for Mother's Day. It was one of the few places open for Mother's Day brunch on the Miracle Mile in Stockton. This is a bar that opened up for brunch for us moms. It was well worth it. The brunch was a buffet. I've never had Eggs Benedict in a buffet that worked, but theirs did. The muffin was well toasted and the yokes soft and runny, as it should be. There was scrambled eggs, bacon, ham, fruit, potatoes, and grilled asparagus. All of it delicious. The mimosas were flowing, and the place was full. All hands on deck. Our server was Stacy. Stacy kept the coffee coming, and whatever else we wanted to drink. She was friendly, and fun. The owner Kevin, was accommodating and friendly. "What a fun place," I kept telling my son. We sat at the bar, since it was just the two of us. There was several large groups, that kept the servers hoping, and room full of cheer. My son says its a busy place in the evenings. I would highly recommend The AVE for just a night out. Their bar food, goes beyond the norm. I'm making plans to spend an evening with my son, so we can go back to this fun friendly place. Kevin and his crew still got it goin' on here at the AVE! Went here on both Friday and Saturday nights this week and had a great time with great company. My new discovery here and probably one of my favorite desserts ever...BANANAS FOSTERS! I'm not a huge fan of bananas, but these are made with carmelized brown sugar and rum and then placed in a beautiful plateof vanilla ice cream. Also, a big shot out to the best waitress there, Kitty (sp?)!!! She's bubbly and knows how to take good care of her customers. I guess for Stockton, this lounge is cool. It's kinda small and not much room to sit. The few sofas they had were all reserved so we had to pounce on a table as soon as someone left. The waitress was very hesitant to let us sit there since we already had drinks in hand and just came from dinner. When I asked her if we could take her table, she said "Um...let me check with my manager" who quickly said "Of course!". She had this "Dammit" look on her face. I guess since there's only a few tables, she saw this as lost revenue. The median age group is like late 40s. There were plenty of men in their 60s there with their bingo friends. Guess Seniors need a place to party too. Demographics is mainly white. There was 1 black guy and I was the token Asian guy. Sunday, I had the most wonderful opportunity to enjoy a brunch at Ave. Just to put things into perspective, I already love Ave. Classy, nighttime environment. Safe and fun place to drink, relax, and celebrate various occasions. To have high expectations already, and then be blown away still by its completely different, yet similar/familiar, daytime setting is amazing. Upon walking in, I fell in love with the smooth tunes of the saxophonist. Seated outside, with a splendid view of sidewalk passer-byers, I felt like a girl in France. For about $20 (including tax and tip), you get a fantastic brunch including eggs, omelet, fruit, bacon, muffins, etc. Oh yeah, and BOTTOMLESS MIMOSAS. Yeah, I know, the atmosphere and the tiny table overflowing with food is worth the $20 already, but make your money EVEN MORE worth it by endless consumption of mimosas (and coffee too). I've been here a few times with sorority sisters for their Sunday brunch and with Stocktonians and UOP students for their nightlife. The owner is adorable! Kevin hopes that the AVE will be a place where classy people congregate. I like that! That said, the prices are bit higher than the usual fare. Brunch: + Dress in sundresses and cute shoes! (No room for PJ's and slippers here) + Gets the eggs Benedict and biscuit and gravy! My usual order. + Sit outside! + Or sit inside on the couches. - Food can be slow + I had a coupon for I think it was $50 off of $200 or something obscene like that, that had been used already (not by me) and Kevin gave us a different discount to appease our disappointment. He didn't have to do that, but he did because he's a sweetheart! Nights at the AVE: + Think classy (button up shirts, no basketball shorts, no sneakers) + Think older crowd + Ridiculously, I've never had to wait for the restroom! - Lines. Lines are ridiculous. One time my friends and I were so late (1am? Is that late?) that we didn't get in until 10 minutes before closing. - Sometimes they have rave music. Meh. + Dancing! I like that this is more of a dance with your friends kind of an environment as opposed to get down and dirty and grimy with strangers environment. They like to support us Pacific students! I know IPSF on the pharmacy school side asked for their support during a multicultural dinner and the AVE provided a delicious olive oil pasta salad. It was phenomenal! You have to try it! My fiancé and I had spent 10 hours into driving down from Washington, and were in dire need of a well deserved break - one that consisted of fabulous ambiance, great drinks, and a delicious menu. AVE on the mile was the winner. We aren't familiar with Northern California, and given all of the other options between Sacramento and Stockton, we were hesitant about stopping over in Stockton. However, I have to tell you: AVE on the mile was exactly what we were hoping for! We loved the vibe and especially loved the staff. Kevin, the owner, was very engaged in getting to know us and personally made sure that he and his staff created the ideal date night for us. We've never encountered an owner and staff with such passion for creating an environment where their customers would love every moment there. The attention to detail in their recent interior renovation to the establishment really set the bar high for me. Their custom drink menu has a great range to satisfy any mood, and they were also excited to work with me to create a perfect match. Their artichoke hearts were glorious - tender, flavorful, and coupled with a delicious aioli. There was no pressure of an upsell, rather the focus of the staff was in ensuing that everyone was comfortable and enjoying their evening. The bouncers and servers were so friendly, courteous, and helpful.
