I would have done a better job on my hair with a CHAINSAW, than the girl did on my hair! I literally left in TEARS! She didnt even apologize for doing the EXACT OPPOSITE of what the instructor told her to do! Kinda felt like she didn't even care. I've never been so disappointed in this school, the Director Mostly! Almost 4 and a half hours for my hair to look worse than when I got there! I had an appt at Avada in Twin Falls May 3rd for low lights to blend the Gray around my face and on the top. Also I wanted a full haircut, I've done this same thing many times before, and have supported the school for many years. In fact all the way back to "Mr Juans" and have very seldom had a problem, if I did, they fixed it, or made it right!! I had requested an experienced student when I made the appt. due to having curly hair and having some problems with my hair. The person that scheduled me, told me they had me with a student that is great with curly hair and what I was wanting. When I got there, they told me my appt wasn't until a day at the end of the month, nope, I had a txt to prove. receptionist told me they could still get me in! Of course I wanted to know if the person they are putting me with would "also" be an experienced student and I proceeded to explain why. "Oh yes, she will be great and an instructor will be right there to help".... when the student comes to get me, she walks me to the very last row of chairs I know from many years of experience as a customer, this is where the beginners are!! I ask her if she is good with curly hair, she said "not really" I ask if she was comfortable with curly hair, she said "not really" so I told her I can just reschedule, then she went to get an instructor. However it wasn't just an instructor, it was the "Director" and she went on and on about how it will be fine and that color is her specialty (the director) I reminded her that I wanted a full haircut too! The student looked almost terrified, as the Director was making her very uncomfortable. I didn't want the student to get in trouble so, I thought I'd give it a go.... the Director sent an instructor to help the student with the weave as I had "very specific requests" how it is done, I need it to blend but not look "painted"! The whole purpose of doing this is because I pull my hair up and most all my grey is all around my face and on top, and I wanted it blended so I could feel more confident that my hair doesn't look like it's 2 different colors. The student hardly spoke at all throughout the entire 4 plus hours I was in her chair. After washing out the color, and totally drowning my ears, soaking me all the way down my back, so bad I pulled the "already wet towel" to try and keep more water from going in my ears. Several instructors walked past when this was going on, and not one even noticed my very obviously uncomfortable situation. Back to the chair, without even a dry towel offered! These are Students, where are the "Teachers"? Student started to comb a small part of my hair then went to get an instructor to show him the picture of the haircut I wanted. It was a fully layered all over your head hair style. The guy (instructor) took the back of my hair held a chunk out like they do to get the angle and told the student to just do that all the way around! "Ok" she said. Nothing was said about the color, how did it look? Do you like it? What do you think? Nothing at all, and no instructor came to look at it either. THE DIRECTOR KNEW I WAS CONCERNED ABOUT THIS STUDENT, THEY SHOULD HAVE KNOWN THE STUDENT NEEDED SUPPORT throughout the entire process, like the Director said in the beginning!!! That Never happened! The student ask about my sides, how short I want, I told her I wanted it to all blend together with the layers throughout. The haircut I chose would have required "All of my hair to be cut" including the length. I told her it just need be long enough to put in a messy bun or pull thru a cap when I'm riding an ATV, but "I need a change and want it to look like I had a hair cut"... in about 5 or 10 minutes she was done cutting and was blow drying with the infuser on. I ask if she was finished with the layers and I couldn't see them. She told me I will when it's dry! Next words, "going to get someone to check" She came back, and took my cape off and said we can go to the register "What about getting it checked? " I said, she replied, "they signed off on you " Whhhaaattt... so I guess this is what I get, I'm holding back tears, as I grab her spray bottle and start wetting my hair a bit to scrunch. I get to the counter and I tell the receptionist how terribly unhappy I am, as she tells me how much I owe for this!! She said "oh I'm so sorry, I wish there was something I could do". I told her to look at it, the low lights look awful. Again, she said she wishes there was something she could do! REALLY? I told her how rude the Director is, and how sad it is that after 47yrs of having my hair done at this school (new owners 3 X I think) I won't be back. I left my water bottle there, went back in, the Director was standing there, so I told her, look at this, with tears rolling down my face, her response was "IT'S NOT SUPPOSED TO COVER THE GRAY! 1. They are students, some 3 weeks into their program, some do really great work and others are still learning. I had a color and cut the first time I came and it was great (I did come back the next day because they left some longer stands but they fixed it) 2. Second time we got a mani and pedi, my nails had texture and there was color on my skin, but my sisters were well done. I appreciate that they require masks but Courtney, one of the instructors, only wears a face shield and does not keep it on all the time; she tends to remove it when she is cutting/touching clients hair. read more

I haven't been to Aveda for about 18 months. Sad how time changes rings. The receptionist use to take care in what you stated and matched you perfectly with someone. Now it is their way or the highway. The reason my appointmwnt was switched to someone new, the Receptionist stated it was their decision. Sadly they chose not to here my expectations. Next visit would have been a color, not just a cut. I should have left but stayed. Maybe the deplorable customer service from the Receptionist set the visit on a downward spiral. You you are placed with a new stylist who did not hear "feathered" instead of "blunt" cut did not help my experience. I walk away with a Dutch Boy haircut instead of the wonderful styles I have had in the past. Will I go back, doubtful. If I want to feel like I joined the military and don't have any say, I will go somewhere else. read more

Did the perm it turned out so well I am on my third perm I love the job that has been done and the people are great. Everyone here is super nice and appointments are easy to get = both things I appreciate greatly. Unfortunately, the work itself is not that great. I've used several beauty schools in different cities over the decades, so I'm accustomed to working with students. (I was once a vocational school student as well and worked in the clinic, then later supervised it.) Here, however, not only does it take a long time - as it always does in a school setting - but the end product is just so-so. I had a chemical color and the student had a difficult time understanding the idea of lowlights (v highlight). Recently I booked for a spa pedicure and the "spa" part (exfoliation) was completely forgotten. Again, everyone is super nice. And in the case of the pedicure, I was only charged for the regular, not the "spa" price, so that's good. But I have to drive over an hour to get here and am not sure I'll do that again. read more

I have had my color done here twice and have been satisfied both times, BUT there are some things one should be aware of. The second time I went I thought my single process was going to cost $30, but at the end they charged me $50. They said it was because my hair is long and needed additional color mixed, but they did not tell me this during the consultation BEFORE applying the color - which is when that conversation should take place. I also booked a pedicure the second time, which is $17, but was charged $27 at the end. When I asked about it, they said I had received the "spa pedicure," not the regular pedicure I had booked. Again, this should have been discussed beforehand. I didn't know they had more than one kind of pedicure, and I certainly would not have agreed to pay $27 for a student pedicure. Incidentally, the quality of the pedicure was low - the polish was bumpy and fell off of three toes within a week, but that is not even the issue. The point is that you should ask very specific questions about their pricing BEFORE you agree to anything. I went in thinking I had booked $47 worth of services and was charged $80. read more

I am impressed at the work the students do in this college. The instructors always check the work that each person receives. It takes a while to get your service completed, but the cost is reasonable if you can spare the time. Also, this is a good place to get excellent hair products for your hair and scalp. They can cost a bit more, but if you are careful, you will see a difference with how nice your hair looks. Thank you, students for being devoted to your new profession!!! read more

I dropped by today to purchase a product. In addition to the staff member behind the desk who was on her cell phone, I was the only person in the lobby area where Aveda products are displayed. I told her I was there simply to purchase product. When she finished her phone call, she came toward me with a mask in hand. I advised her I was unable to wear a mask and she then told me I could not stay. I then advised her I was unable to wear a mask due to an injury that causes pain in my face when anything touches my skin. She simply reiterated, I could not be there. I then advised her she just lost a sale and I would not be returning - ever. Yes, I understand the CDC's guidelines; what happened to social distancing, which I was doing and given the fact I was the only person in the lobby? Other salons are not requiring clients to wear masks; in fact I had a haircut this morning at a salon that is keeping with the governor's guidelines and none of the clients were asked to wear masks. In the current economic climate, one would think a business would not turn away clients. I usually buy local to support businesses in our community, but I will now purchase Aveda products online. If Aveda Twin Falls has been mandated to require clients to wear masks by Aveda corporate, I will turn to another product line for my hair care needs. read more

On my third time going to Aveda Institute in Twin Falls, I received a choppy cut and poor color job. I feel for the poor girl that did my hair, but I think if there was more observation from the instructors these errors could have been seen. I scheduled an appointment for a perm on July 20. I was assigned to a student who admitted up front she specialized in haircuts, not perms. I explained to both her and the supervising instructor that I wanted 1 1/2" cut off all over, and medium rods used for the perm all over. The instructor informed me the cut would be done after the perm but, when all was said and done, the cut wasn't. A couple snips were taken off one side and in the back, but a thorough haircut was not performed. Tired after being in the chair for over 3 hours, I went home and hoped a wash would set things right. It didn't. When I went back a few days later to express my concerns, I spoke with Tina, the manager/instructor. I told her the cut had not been done - even though I paid for it. She asked me what type of shampoo I used, and blamed the shampoo for "stripping" the perm. That wasn't my concern. Then, she said she'd schedule me for a cut, but I'd have to come back - again. This is the kind of horrible, inconsiderate customer service that is ruining businesses today! read more
