I bought the gesso product from a store that carries their products. I dont normally buy this brand…read morebut it was the only gesso left in the store. I asked the clerk if it was a good brand and they didnt know but we both thought " Its Gesso. What could go wrong?" Well, it totally went wrong. When I applied layers of Gesso it became broken apart and coagulated. It was as if it couldnt apply as it kept breaking apart, even after the 4 the layer and applied acrylic paint it still would come apart. It took me longer to prep my canvases because of this and I was on a strict time schedule because of a solo art show I was preparing for. I contacted them and on their site it said that they would respond to you in a few days. The only email I got from them was an automatic reply that they received it. This has been over a month now.

A nice selection of scrapbooking products and a decent sized sale section to boot! Things at this location are arranged around the store in a slightly odd (to me) manner, but things can be found. My one problem is that the employees often seem to be more interested on chatting or stocking things to notice that there are multiple customers needing assistance/ringing up at the registers. A few "excuse me"s toward them has shown to be less than effective at times. However, while they may not be particularly attentive, they are polite and friendly. While I'd still prefer shopping at a locally owned scrapbook store, I nearly always pop into this Archiver's on drives through Appleton.

Not only do they have stencils or projects for classes but you can bring them a design or explain to them what you would like to do and they will customize it for you. They have class schedules that you can take on their website, or you can book a private group session (girls night out, bachelorette party etc). If you are still in doubt about your abilities, than you could always shop their Etsy store. But you should really stop in and see this sister's run store. They help our local community artisans by showcasing some of their items as well.

They told us we could pick out what we wanted (painting pottery or melting glass together). I ended up selecting a small vase and I went to town on finding the right colors. We all really enjoyed painting out respective pieces and it was actually harder than I thought! I used a bunch of different-sized brushes so I could get the right amount of detail for certain parts of my design. There weren't very many staff members around to help if we had any questions, but I honestly can't think of any questions we might have. It's pretty straightforward: pick out your piece, pick out your paint, and go to town painting it! One of my sisters later picked up the box of all our decorated pieces, so I didn't have any more interaction with the employees there. I had a really fun experience here; there's nothing quite like relaxing with a paintbrush and hanging out with friends, even if you're no Van Gogh. Tips: Be sure to check the little swatch that shows you how the paint colors turn out after being fired up in the kiln. I wasn't observant enough, and my vase turned out a robin egg blue when I was expecting a royal blue. Also, I recommend writing your name on the bottom, just in case!

WHAT!!! And that's apparently a sale price, that's crazy. I decided to go to Hobby Lobby and I am paying less than $100 they took the time to actually ask what I wanted and gave me a solid price after I picked what I wanted. I will never go to Michaels again for custom anything.
