After reaching a phone service at one company, getting a gal saying they were booked out 2 days with another. I was starting to panic.A plumber I work with said try Averill and man am I glad I did. I unearthed the access to the cover just as the technician was pulling up. This was 20-25 minutes after I called them to have them come out. The tech was great very friendly. After he pumped it he made a few recommendations to me which I will definitely do. Most techs would pack up and take off. I wish I remember his name, big buffed guy with 4 kids, he was very helpful and took the extra time to explain the system and proper maintenance. I'd give six stars if that was an option. They put the SERVICE in customer service. Local, friendly, very experienced, courteous, accommodating, the list goes on. I wish every service company was as great as them. I called on the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend. Big issue. I described the problem, the person said "I'll check with the guys and we'll get back to you." With other companies, that means forget about it. Here, it meant that I got a call back within an hour, and they arranged their schedule to fit me in within another hour. Diagnosed and fixed the problem fast! So good. I had a clogged waste pipe and called another company, it was in the morning and just started snowing. The company would not come because of the road conditions despite going over their emergency up-charges. I called Averill Park, they were booked but fit me in the afternoon when there was already 6 inches of snow. Drove on lawn and left huge ruts. Called company and they had driver call me back and he started using profanity. It was over $200 for less than an hour. Driver should recognize if ground is too soft to drive on and spend a few minutes using some hose. Same company as Gene's so keep in mind if hiring either. DO NOT suggest it is OK to drive on lawn because like me you are counting on them to use their judgement but they are lazy and will drive as close as possible regardless if they are sinking into ground. read more

I heard great things about Averill Park Septic and felt comfortable after speaking to the office staff. They were great to deal with and scheduled an appointment at my convenience. When the truck arrived I was anxious because I wasn't sure where the lid to the tank was located but Brian, the driver, took everything in stride. Had them come out to pump a septic that had been marked out by them before a new deck was put on the house. The contractor of 45 years followed their marking, and placed the last stairs over the exit point with the intent of us unscrewing top of one or two stairs to pump. When septic team came out they first couldn't find it (even though they drew it) and there are holes all over the lawn. I found the photo myself that I took when they marked it out, and sent it over. At that point, I was told it was not service-able due to where it was placed, how deep it was and that it was actually the other side entirely ( which was under the deck), and I was going to be out tons of $ in the future to dig it out and have a riser put on. I was more mad at myself at that point for not questioning it when the marking was painted years back and asked them to come back with a quote for that work ( fully intending to use them for the much more $$ job). The real issue occurred when I was given a bill for $210 for nothing except a service call to tell me they couldn't do the work. When I questioned the bill I was told gas, man hours, etc. ( keep in mind I had to take time out of my day to dig up the photo to show them where it was even though they marked it). When I questioned the marking not being clear (contractor was blaming them) by the guy who came out to service the house. I was told I was 'putting my problems onto him, and if I did not pay he would take me to small claims court, put a lien on my home and that he 'deals with people like me all the time'. I called to speak to office and was told " I should have told them the septic was under the deck" (again I was told it was at end of stairs by contractor and accessible). So, I am out a ton of $ in the future to fix given there is a deck over the septic, had to pay $210 for a service call where I got nothing and left with the worst treatment I have ever received as a client by anyone who I have ever hired in 22 years of home ownership. read more
