From the moment we started, he was incredibly friendly, calm, and easy to talk to, which made a huge difference as someone who had never flown before. He gave clear, helpful direction and made flying feel way less intimidating than I expected. His patience and confidence really stood out for me, as well as how comfortable he made me feel the entire time. He also went out of his way to capture a lot of footage for me, which I really appreciated. Overall, my instructor was great and made this such a smooth, enjoyable first experience. I highly recommend flying with him, and I'll definitely be back again in the future.

My instructor, Jan (CFII), was incredible--he is really a great guy, highly experienced, patient, and always made me feel at ease. His great sense of humor was an added bonus! The owner, Slava, is also a great guy and genuinely cares about each student's progress. He was always flexible and responsive. I also had stage checks with Jeremy and Dost, who were both excellent instructors and added to the solid training I received. The academy's professionalism, organization, and strong emphasis on safety gave me the confidence I needed to ace my checkride. I am now continuing my Instrument Rating (IFR) training with them. The quality and detail involved in the instruction here is superb - you feel like you're being given all of the information you need, from the basics to more complex properties of the helicopters. There was no point where I felt like the information was overwhelming or over-simplified: it seemed like the right mix of education and beginner's instruction. As for the flight, it's a blast! While I was far from talented at piloting the helicopter, I was given quite a lot of control over time, and I felt increasingly comfortable as time went on. I felt safe and monitored the entire time - even when a lot of wind blew the helicopter around, the instructor was available to make things right quickly and effortlessly. Needless to say, if you have the time and the money, give this place a shot!

He was very personable and knowledgeable. He pointed out various landmarks and places that we would be interested in seeing. He took the time to explain everything and throughly check the vehicle, it made us feel very safe and comfortable. Seth answered all questions, and even cracked a few jokes. I would definitely recommend them for celebrating a special occasion or just a romantic date. Make sure to ask for Seth by name you won't be disappointed!

They are open until 7pm most weekdays, so if you want service...make sure you get here before 7pm. We arrived at 6:45 and a staff member with a golf kart met us (after calling them on the radio), showed us to our parking spot, pushed the plane back AND tied it down for us while getting our luggage to the gate. It was incredible. The FBO staff were super helpful in giving me the number to a few mechanics (spark plugs needed cleaning) on the field and even offered us some water. Parking is $15/day, but they were incredibly sweet to waive our fees for the entire 3 days with a top off. Usually they only waive one day with a 20 gallon purchase, but they were super nice to us! Getting to DC from this airport isn't too bad. You can take a Lyft/Uber directly to DC for about $40-45 (about a 35minute ride) or take a bus/taxi/Uber to the train station ($~10-15 for the taxi) and then take the train into DC($5). All in all, until I get the FRZ requirements out of the way to fly into College Park, I'll be sure to return to Montgomery if going to DC. They provided amazing service. There is also a diner right at the airport with has decent lunch and you can watch the planes taking off as you eat. Seems like a lot of locals go there.

He always mentioned he wanted to get his flying license one day, so it was a good gift. I'm so rad. It was cold as a witch's teat and the winds were high. Our instructor was super affable and knowledgeable too. I had my camera ready and was set to snap pictures from the ground when the instructor asked me if I'd like to fly along. I was scared, to be honest, since Welshie was manning the plane, but the instructor has full control as well. It was a stomach-dropping, squeal-inducing, 20-minute flight and it was quite freeing. I did think I was going to die, though. Our instructor even said that the winds were so bad that he was going to cancel the rest of his lessons. Nice. Overall, it's a great little airpark and learning to fly is awesome. It's not cheap if you want to get your license--you're probably looking at about $10K when it's all said and done. I highly recommend trying it out at least once, though.

I bought a Groupon to surprise my partner for his birthday with a discovery flight through PAA. I contacted the company after buying the Groupon, and from there, everything went very smoothly. They helped me keep it a surprise, as well as stayed in communication about everything leading up to it. The discovery flight was an awesome experience for my partner and the instructor, Fernando, was really chill and great to work with. I would really recommend this business for the discovery flight!

People steal stuff from airplanes here all the time. This is the third time I've parked my plane…read morehere and things have been missing. Whether it's wicks, radios, or ground equip, NOTHING here is safe at this field. Anything not nailed down disappears in a New York second. During one weekend, about five airplanes were broken into one radio is missing. Mine was attempted to be broken into, word at the field was that this was an inside job. Watch out for the FBO that rips you off for bogus charges too, run by a bunch of arrogant, less-than-honest ruffians that could care less about customer service or their reputation for that matter. This FBO charges a fee for using any type of credit card. Important: check your credit card statement very carefully after leaving the field. Mine had substantial extra charges I never agreed to and had to dispute it with the credit card company. Filed a complaint with AOPA, this is the FBO of last resort. Ask any of the tenants. On the plus side, the airport coffee shop is pretty amazing for a small airport café.

I received a gift certificate from a family member for a Discovery Flight given my mention of…read morepotentially being a pilot someday. I called and quickly was able to schedule something with an instructor the following week. They provided a calendar invite and my instructor, Devon text me as a reminder of our appointment. No issues finding the facility with the provided address and I was greeted promptly with the waiver documents and request for copy of an ID. I sat down with Devon who explained the agenda and inquired about my reasoning for wanting to do a Discovery Flight. We went out to the airfield to conduct pre-flight checks of the plane and what to look for during the process and why. After waiting on the fuel truck for a few minutes, we got underway and spent the next hour in the air flying around. It reminded me of my first time driving a car and that overwhelming feeling of trying to safely operate a vehicle and over time developed a rhythm of comfort to be able to do other things while driving. Flying seems to be no different with all the gauges to manage direction, altitude, fuel, etc. There is an added level of complexity managing the map (our location) which was on an iPad during my trip to understand no fly areas, change of radio frequencies/airspace, etc. Devon let me steer while on the ground as well as in the air, adjust speed, altitude, etc with his oversight. I put on a lightweight jacket prior to departure but found myself getting warm in the air with the sun beating on us. Airflow and space in the cockpit to move around are limited so it's best to be situated prior to getting in. Despite having the gift certificate that was purchased about 9 months ago, they charged me a $10 surcharge as a result of fuel cost increases. I didn't argue against it in the moment. It was an insightful learning experience that I would recommend to anyone thinking about flying or wanting a unique experience. I would enjoy the opportunity to become licensed but that also requires a time and funding commitment that has to be aligned with priorities.
