Instead of giving into their frustration about lack of progress and hating messing with their bindings etc, I decided to book some open time at Shredder to work with them directly on the fundamentals. This was a perfect setting where they didn't need to worry about being bundled up, their gloves etc and could instead just focus on walking up the ramp, getting comfy with their bindings and working on leaf turns, heel stops, etc. The staff is very helpful and engaging and would squirt the artificial turf to help them go faster after they started to get better. A small complaint is we wish the ramp were longer as it's harder to combine multiple turns in a single run. This is a great place during spring / summer / fall for a quick review on the basics prior to heading to the slopes. They also offer camps, summer camps, seasonal lessons, etc. We brought our own gear but they have skis snow boards, boots and helmets available.

When I come to the tots playtime in the morning there are soccer games and crossfit happening and my son is fascinated by all the action. It can be hard to find the first time because there are no huge signs for its location. Turning on Aspen Ridge its immediately on the left, the first parking lot entrance. It looks like a warehouse.

Yelling at him "am I boring you". Are you kidding me? They claimed to be professional and said "we will pay all the actors" but never mentioned they will take away payment if you did somthing they didn't like. Anything that's fun for a kid doing musical theatre is crushed. I lived acting and never did it again after this. Don't send your kids here if you love them.

Every student gets a lot of individual attention here, and they rotate the parts so everyone has a chance to shine and there are not just a few stars (there were about 5 Willy Wonkas and about 5 Charlie Buckets, for example). Separately from this they also have a "professional" children's acting group, the Lunch Bunch, who I haven't seen.

Once I registered him, I got very little information other than a constant stream of spammy emails. I drove over to the middle school campus a few weeks before he was scheduled to attend and there didn't seem to be much going on. Finally some of the camp let out and an adult named Millie walked a few kids out. Not wanting to seem like a creep watching other peoples' kids come out of summer camp, I spoke to Millie briefly and was somewhat reassured that the Minecraft camp would be well attended and was what we were hoping for. Two weeks later, I dropped my son off at the camp with a couple of other younger counselors. As always, he said he didn't want to go. But when I picked him up seven hours later, he was beaming and excited to have spent the day playing Minecraft and making a few friends! It was definitely everything I was hoping for and I would send him back (and he would happily go!). Millie and the staff were also very communicative and helpful when I had to drop him off late after an unrelated issue. He had a great time, thanks so much guys!

During this first week students get familiar with horses and horse behavior, but they don't actually ride on their own (they ride while their horses are being led around the area by the helpers). They also learn a lot about grooming and caring for horses, which I think is important. They also offer some more advanced courses and some individual riding lessons.

The setup at this Y is not my favorite. There is only one bench available that isn't attached to a barbell holder and there are an excess of Elliptical machines and bikes. They've done away with the floor area to make room for even more of them. Someone must have demanded that, but it sure wasn't me. It's cool that this branch has an ice rink, though I've not used it yet. Parking is easy. Staff is friendly. However, there's no steam room, the towels are tiny, and unlike other Y's, you can neither borrow nor buy a lock. Most let you do one or the other. I'm glad this branch exists, but it's average in my estimation.
