This place is awesome, they really know their ski stuff. Rentals for ski/snowboard is $35 and $10 for every additional day. Also they don't charge you if you don't bring it back the next day. Ted really runs some awesome ski trips, around $80, but that includes transportation and lift ticket. Most places $80 is the cost of a lift ticket alone. read more

I had ordered a custom set of boots to be delivered to the store. When I went to pick them up, I encountered their sales rep Ted. He'd been letting other customers try them on which didn't thrill me. I waited for a long time while he engaged in non-sales small talk on his cell phone about upcoming sports games while I sat there. When he finally came over to me, he talked for a VERY long time about his level of expertise (I just wanted try on my boots, pay for them, and leave). He struck a pretty condescending tone and wasn't very attentive. I packed the boots up in the box myself and brought them to the register to pay, where he announced that he was going to "school you" about the proper way to load the boots into the flimsy box that I was never going to use again; his tone was scornful instead of supportive. Slow, inattentive, and too much of a self-satisfied attitude for me. I actually walked out of the store without the boots. (they were quite nice btw). It's too bad because other employees (such as Alex) have been excellent in the past. This time was a bad experience. read more

Fantastic customer service! Very knowledgable staff. They even stayed open for us when we were late getting our snowboard back! Because of that- I felt like I should buy something for the hassle, lol. Now- normally I wouldn't buy from a specialty shop bc everything seems to be way over priced- but, surprisingly, theirs were fair! Walked out with a pair of snow pants for $60. I hate the cold and figured I'd only use them once so it wasn't bad compared to the $200 pants I've seen at Dick's and EMS. But when I tried them on- they were the warmest, most comfortable thing I've ever worn, lol. I wore them the next day for my first time snowboarding and I was toasty. The guy at the counter gave us tons of advice AND threw in an $80 coupon to Wachusett. It was good toward one lift, lesson, rental package AND lift ticket for a friend (the BFF package that Wachusett has for $110 online). After a full day of snowboarding, my boyfriend mentioned that he was surprised at how sharp the edges of his snowboard still were and that he'd return to the shop again (all the way from Quincy, MA) since they did a stellar job and didn't skimp on any work (and he's picky!! He's been skiing 17 years and boarding 10). I fell in love with snowboarding after my one visit so now I need to come to Avie's to buy some gear!! read more

Phenomenal customer service and selection here for all the winter and summer sports. Took my family in to get outfitted for our first big ski trip and they solved all my problems with gear - the right skis and clothes. They gave great travel tips and advice and never gave us the hard-sell -- clearly looking to get lifetime customers and form relationships rather than short term sales. I will make this my go-to shop for ski and winter gear and dive supply whenever I can. Eric and Ted were a pleasure to work with and were patient and kind to my wife and kids while we fitted skis and got mountain gear. These kind of quality shops are a dying breed - glad this one is still around! read more

Decent rentals, knowledgeable staff, good inventory of quality clothing and sporting goods. This is a great place to have local and no comparison to the big box stores which have low quality crap. read more
