They gave us a car with mechanical issues. The oil light kept turning red and beeping. We called and tried to swap the car but they kept giving us the run around. We finally decided to drive back to Sacramento Airport to swap it for a new car, they tried to give us a smaller car, when we asked for the same car we had previously, they gave us serious attitude, not once apologized, then gave us a dirty car. If we end up contracting Covid due to the dirty and unsanitized card, Avis will need to reimburse us for vacation interruption and medical expenses. The lady (older Latina) at the Sacramento airport in June 18 around 9:30 am was extremely rude, mean and unprofessional. read more

This place is amazing. I cannot figure out why they're receiving such bad reviews because my family and I have rented cars here quite frequently two years and I have never, ever had a bad experience here. This is a family owned business and they go out of their way to provide excellent customer service. This place is also a budget rental so it's Budget/Avis. I hate to write this review because I'd like to keep this place as my best kept secret but they don't deserve this ridiculous rating so do yourself a favor - if you're anywhere near 1011 E. Between breaking my friend's driver's license by repeatedly bending it for no good reason, trying to charge us an extra half grand with no explanation, refusing to take a debit card despite it being company policy to do so (and probably so they could charge us that extra undeserved fee), and treating us like overall second-class citizens, this operation is a perfect example of why the whole rental industry is judged and scrutinized. These guys are literal frauds and I will be reporting this to their customer service and business bureau if my complaint is not resolved! Firstly I booked a Camry for our trip from Sac to SFO. When I got there they only has 2 cars available and were still small than a camry. In urgent need of a car I figured my 2 suitcases would still be able to fit in the Honda Civic trunk vs the other car which had smaller trunk space. The representative did no checks with car and said "it's just a bit dirty but this is what we have." I had no other options except to take the car as I had to leave. I still vacuumed the seats before driving off as it also had some pet hair. It looked like as if the car had been to a beach and had some light weed odor as well. I also got 2 car seats which were clean. I have the receipt saying my charge was $173 for renting. My card got charged $247.00 instead. I was already going to call on this matter that I receive a letter today stating the car was too dirty and that I should cover this damage and will be charged $250.00!!?!? Like are you Serious!? This is what you guys gave me. I didn't get the car I asked for, I wasn't charged what the receipt said AND I am responsible to pay for apparent excessive sand which was there in the first place and you guys should have taken care of before handing me the car? I mentioned the car is very dirty and they said "this is all we have." The only extra charge I was expecting was the gas because I did not fill it up all the way on my return to airport , so therefore that was expected. Oh just to mention, the car also had its engine light on. Absolutely disappointed! I have never had such horrible experience in my past car rentals and this is why I am here to post this review because it was that important! Ridiculous! read more

When your car breaks down and you are stressed, the last thing you need is to have someone assume you have been renting cars all your life and simply hands you the keys. It was raining the night my car broke down and the Honda dealership called Avis and arranged a car for me. But within two days it was really hot and the slanted window on my rental made it a solar oven. I fumbled with the air conditioning controls untill I was completely burned up. I had picked up a business card off the counter when signing the papers and so it seemed logaical that it would be the number I should call if I had a problem. No one answered so I left a clear message and days passed with no return call. When I returned the car, I checked it in with the gentleman whose name was on the card. No apology. I will have to take some responsibility for my not-so-great experience. I paid too much because I did not shop around. $32 + 9/day ins.+ tax and gas (4 door Chevy Cruize). Hind site is soooo much better. Never let the car dealership arrange for a rental car for you. Go to PriceLine or some other site to compare prices. Find the app for your smart phone ahead of time. You never know when you will need it. If you really like to be prepared, do the research ahead of time and check yelp while you're at it. When you are upset, there is a tendency to want solutions fast so it pays to be prepared. I am creating a page on my iphone notepad with numbers to call when I need a tow truck, rental car, etc. Last thought on this experience: Be sure to walk around the car and scan for anything wrong with the body before you drive away. read more

Awful service. Picked up car during Pandemic and the car offered us had just been turned in a few minutes before and not sanitized or cleaned...service rep hands me a bottle of cleaner and a rag and tells me you can wipe it and then take it to car wash and we will reimburse you (we had to leave and had no time to find another car so we took it to car wash immediately). Then half way through our trip to Yellowstone the oil light comes on to change it very soon. I called Avis and they said take it to closet Avis and turn in for another car (which at the time was 40 minutes away), when I took it there they would not let us trade it and told us "look we can just reset the warning light if you want or you can take it to a shop and get the oil changed". Then on the drive home on Saturday the Folsom Avis rep wants to know why we had not brought the car back and we told him we were coming back Monday and originally he told us that is totally fine....then he responds "ok" then hangs up. Do not rent a car from here. Made our trip very stressful. read more

These guys are thieves and liars. Had my vehicle worked on by a local dealer. They used Avis to provide me with a FREE rental while my vehicle was worked on. The dealer provided them with a PO for the rental car. 1 week later there was a charge for the rental on my credit card. Dealt with Chris first and he assured me the charge would be credited with 5-10 day. NOPE!! Contacted Chris again and he said they should have issued a credit. DUH!! He said they closed that location and moved to this location and he can't find my paperwork. I told him I need to speak to his supervisor. Now I get to deal with Nick. Nick seems like I'm wasting his time. It's now been a month and still NO CREDIT. I asked Nick the name and phone number to the person he is dealing with. He tells me there is no phone number and is done via email. So as of today, Avis was paid by the dealer for my rental, charged my card for the same rental and is refusing to refund my money... That's a thief in my book... All the lies from Nick and Chris are B.S. So if you want to have fraudulent charges to your credit card.. Please rent here... I filed a charge back dispute with my bank today to resolve this issue due to their lack of customer service!!!! read more

This was my first rental car experience and it will be my last! My car was in the shop and I had no choice but to rent a car. Avis was closest so I went there. Not even 15min into driving their vehicle I got a flat tire. The tire pressure light was on but we were told it was fine. Well not so much. we called road side assistance they said it would be 3 hrs for them to get us a new car since they didn't have a spare in the car! Well waiting three hours with a tired toddler and late to work wasn't my idea of a plan so my husband went to Americas tires in the same parking lot and got a tire put on. My car ended up not being done that day due to a problem they created so we had the car for another day! I was told to talk to the manager Scott about this issue with the tire. After two voicemails he never called me back. I called again the secretary said he'd give me a call in 15min. (It's now a week past when I returned the car) he calls me back a few hours later when I was working. I returned his call the next morning he answered and said he had a long line in front of him and he didn't have time to talk to me and he would call me back. I said I had waited three weeks to talk to him what's a few more minutes. Well it turned into another week and a half because he never called me back. I just now called and he answered. Basically it's my fault for the tire he said. My fault there was no spare. My fault I couldn't wait three hours for a replacement. read more
