However, when returned car, was told everything good and would get email. No paper receipt. Not that would have time to argue since needed to get to the airport. When checked email, got charged $545.60. Ridiculous. Called 800 number. Was told they couldn't find anything to justify the extra charge but could only refund $139.98. I have to say that I had a great experience at this Avis due to the manager Rob. I was in a car accident and I wasn't sure how long I needed a rental car for. He made it easy for me to both extend the time, and then when my car was ready I was able to return the car easily. I WOULD GIVE THEM ZERO STARS IF THAT WERE AN OPTION - AVOID AVIS RENTAL AS IF YOUR LIFE DEPENDED ON IT...BECAUSE IT DOES! At the Richmond VA airport, Avis rented us a minivan with tires so worn, the steel belts were protruding. It was late at night and it didn't occur to me to check the tires for baldness. A few days later one of the tires blew out, fortunately on a street instead of 75 MPH on the highway. Avis sent out a tire replacement guy. Problem was, as we told them, there was no spare nor any tire changing equipment. 3 hours later they towed it away but the next day we were forced to take a $180 Uber to BWI to get a replacement car. After the trip, some compassionless flunky named Salvador at Avis customer service made it abundantly clear he could not care less about what happened to us. One form email after another was returned to me as we tried to get refunded. Salvador would only refund us one day rental and $50 of the $180 Uber cost, even though Avis was 100% at fault and put our lives in danger. Salvador is everything that's wrong with corporate America today. This blatant disregard for safety and a defiant unwillingness to take responsibility or accountability. Companies like Avis shouldn't be allowed to put families at risk with subpar vehicles. As far as I'm concerned, Avis is a criminal enterprise and Salvador should be fired. read more

What an amazing experience this was!!! I made a reservation through AVIS's main number for their West Sahara office. When I arrived, the guy behind the counter informed me they were out of cars due to a system glitch. I was devastated because we needed a car right away, but he asked me to give him a few minutes. He immediately dropped everything, jumped on the phone, and within 5 minutes, he had located a car that could be brought in within 30 minutes. Sure enough, 25 minutes later, we had a beautiful convertible, and he refused to charge us more, even comping the tank of gas (which we didn't abuse, but it made us feel good) to make up for the inconvenience. It turned out he was the owner of the franchise (not an AVIS employee), and he treated us with that good, old-fashioned customer service that's all too rare these days. His name was Rob Williamson, and he and his office deserve not 5 but 10 stars. Highly recommended. Forget about long lines at the airport--20 minutes and $25 later, you're there, and you'll be treated like you deserve! read more

They should be ashamed of themselves with their inaccurate transparency and should be duty bound reported to the Better Business Bureau for charging consumer the incorrect NV State sales tax. Effective back then as of January 1, 2020 the Clark County sales and use tax rate was increased to 8.375%. This is an increase of 1/8 of 1 percent on the sale of all tangible personal property that is taxable and has remain dormant at that rate. Which is more than enough at the cost of staple goods and domestic products. This business on the other hand has it illegally raised at "10.375%", furthermore under the rental terms and conditions, the applicable taxes isn't meant to be fees in association to cover certain costs so apparently there's no oversight also unregulated and because "they can", they set their rate under the "sale's tax" umbrella bandwagon which is already incorrect and unnecessary higher than the current tax rate robbing every consumer and costumer alike unfairly. They already know when those walked thru their doors and a vehicle is essentially needed for the moment and not necessarily for sub-sequentially recreational leisure use. That's when they'll knowingly go and recklessly take advantage of the situation unfairly. When I brought it to their attention, a bearded car attendant jumped right in the situation in stating that "Oh Nevada has their thing going in applying their taxable rate in the travel part of the business and also in hotels, etc;" like I'm suppose to been know that and I'm far from being sold on that poor excuse. Check out their reviews, I think many agree. The super friendly franchise owner has ran this small outlet since 1984! Yes, as in Reagan's re-election year, as in when the Tigers won the World Series. No line, easy to get to (albeit a bit hidden in the strip mall.). I price shopped using Priceline. Budget kept topping the list as the cheapest, but noway will I ever use their primary location. Don't rent at the airport if you can avoid it, spend the Uber/Lyft fee to get to this Avis, and experience something better. read more

This was one of the few times that I have rented from an off airport AVIS location. If the other local dealerships are like this one I will bypass the airports as much as possible. The staff are friendly, personable and low key. It is not the same rushed atmosphere as LAS where you are sometimes made to feel like they're doing you a favor. I received a very decent upgrade and they checked to make sure I was getting the best deal. I want and they took care of it. My car was clean. LAS has been having problems cleaning their cars. This place is THE WORST! For the last two days I have made a reservation for a vehicle and both times i have been told they don't have any vehicles available. THEIR SYSTEM SUCKS!! And the older woman at the counter has a bad attitude and is useless. Worst customer service ever. Woman at desk couldn't be bothered. This is both times I rented there. I told him that the price was higher than my previous rental, and I had a coupon. She told me that she have to do the entire transaction again, and then made a face like I was holding her up. She told me I could call customer service. I called them, and they told me that I have to turn the car in before I could file any kind of complaint. Once I turned the car in and tried to follow a complaint the phone rep was very rude to me. I've rented from this location probably 4 times in the last year and each time has been a very pleasant experience. On my last rental (this past weekend) I reserved a compact car. When I arrived they had a Nissan Versa. Rob, the rental agent, asked if that was ok. I told him I wasn't thrilled but it was in my price range and ready to go. When I asked if it was Bluetooth ready he happily said, "well, let's go see" and took me out to the car. After a minute of looking he said, "you know, I can't tell so I'm just going to give you the Jetta for the same price." I ended up with twice the car for the same amount and had a flawless, comfortable, Bluetooth enabled drive to California. That type of experience has been the norm each time I've rented from Avis. Don't rent from Avis!!!! They charged me a cleaning fee for dog hair. I don't have a dog. No dog was in the car when I rented it. Watch out for this scam!!! They charged me $450 dollors for a cleaning fee, plus taxes and fees for that fee to total well over $500. Then they didn't bother to send any documentation or reciept or contact me about it at all. I just saw an additional charge on my card. Take pictures of everything before you leave the rental place. Lesson learned. read more

Too many treat their customers as if they are a burden, and they are doing the customer service by taking their money. This location is different. We drove out to California for Andrea's birthday and decided to rent a car, which we hadn't done before so I was a bit worried about it. BUUUUUTTTTTT Robert was amazing. As soon as you walk in he greets you with the kindest smile and the most amazing attitude that it immediately just made me feel more at ease. Here I am thinking that he was going to try to upsell us on everything but he didn't. He actually worked with us on what kind of car we needed and would be comfortable in then he took the time to show us how everything in the car worked. Dropping the car off was also a piece of cake. I noticed both when picking up the car and dropping it off that a few customers came in and it was like they'd been friends with Robert for a while. Clearly he knows what he's doing. Rob was terrific from the moment I first called to get information until we drove away with the rental car. He was friendly and very professional in sharing information and helping us with directions. We had originally rented an intermediate Jetta but when we questioned the strength of the a/c he immediately found another car for us. It literally took two minutes and he did this without us even asking him to do it. We left with a Dodge Charger which was very comfortable for the four of us. He did not charge us any more. While we really could not be more enthusiastic about the service at Avis Sahara Pavilion with Rob and the other young man who greeted us I will say we were not so happy with the service at McCarran Airport Avis when we dropped off the vehicle. We arrived to drop the car just before our flight. The young man who checked the car in the lot was friendly and helpful but he gave us a bill that was about $120 more than it should have been. He told us there was a surcharge of almost $10 per gallon for gas. We told him that Rob at the other Avis said it would be about $2.56 per gallon and I would not pay this additional amount. He suggested we see a representative at the counter just upstairs. When we arrived at the counter we spoke to a woman about the issue. She looked annoyed from the very beginning. When we explained to her that we were charged way too much for gas and this was not what Rob had discussed with us her response was you were told when you rented the car and it's on your contract. I said that I was not told about this instead we were given a rate quote of $2.56 - no where near the scalp your customers blind price of $10 per gallon. I told her again that I was not paying this amount. She got up and walked away without telling us what she was doing or how it was going to be resolved. Three minutes later a gentleman came out who was the Manager. We explained the situation and he adjusted our bill for us. We did appreciate the McCarran Airport Avis manager adjusting our bill. We did not appreciate the attitude of the employee who dismissed us before getting all of the facts. I own a business and would not tolerate an employee treating a client this way. I'm very happy with the service we received from Rob and the Sahara Pavilion Avis. It was a pleasant experience with them all around. They kept their word and it seemed as though the genuinely like working with the public. We'll go back there and I highly recommend them! read more

I've been a long time Avis customer and I was extremely disappointed when I got an extra gas charge on my final bill even though I had filled up only a few miles from the airport. In contacting customer service via phone, they instructed me to send an email. After that all I received were emails stating they have an electronic system and they don't really care if you have a receipt, their system is right. It didn't matter that I've been a loyal customer for years, they wouldn't even acknowledge my side of the discussion. This may be the end of my business with Avis, there are many competitors in this space and I'm sure one of them would at least listen to my complaints. Very disappointed! read more

This is my first time renting with Avis. The experience is actually less than pleasant. I have to email the customer service team to find out what the extra charge on my credit card was for, instead of emailing me with a detailed receipt. In fact, it was my suspicion that the extra charge was for the fuel, however this was not the whole story... My friend and I picked up a rental car at New York New York hotel, Las Vegas in early June. At the end of the day, we spent over 40 minutes at the gas station figuring out why the car display does not show the refill, which I kept all my receipts. On the rental day, we drove only for half of a day, and we stopped at the gas station to fill gas before returning the car to our pickup point. At my first attempt, I filled up the tank until the gas gun auto stopped itself, which was the indication that the tank was full. When we were about to leave the gas station, I noticed the fuel display did not show it was full. With the worry that Avis would charge me for not filling up the tank, I parked back to refill again. However, the gas gun kept jumping because it was so full that it auto stopped. The gas station staff even came out to help us and we forced more gas in the tank, that's why forwarded them multiple receipts. The car display still did not show the full tank, but it is too dangerous to overfill the tank and the staff advised us not to do so again. So we drove back to the pickup point, which was only less than a 5 minutes drive. When we parked at the garage, then I saw the display slowly turned up. I'm glad that I kept all my receipts and pictures to proved that I have done my part. I was not sure how Avis would handle situations like this, as INITIALLY, I was very disappointed: not at the customer service, but the rental car itself and the extra charge without notification. But, after writing a long email to the customer service, what they did was to brush me off as following: "Thank you for your prompt response and feedback. We are happy to hear your inquiries have been properly addressed. If you have any additional questions or concerns. please do not hesitate to contact us. We will be more than happy to assist you." NO, I don't need you to thank me or ask any further questions. I need a sincere apology and future solution. THANK YOU, Avis. I wont rent with you again! read more

If I could give It ZERO stars, I would. When I was checking in and this lady was taking my basic facts she asked what Hotel we were staying in, that should have been a red flag, i rent often from OTHER places and they never assess you to see how much they can overcharge or oversell. I booked it online at $142 BUT when I was about to do the final sign off was over $650 after fighting it, I got it back down to 320 they said 142 was an estimate. She Also added an extra daybwuthout my authorization. So off I go and the amount they held on my card was 1300, that was 650x2! When I complained they dropped one of the 650s and told me I had to wait 5 business days after drop off to have the other amount adjusted to the actual charge of 320. The team at this store is just great! No hustling or secret upsets, just straight forward, honest good people. Friends car overheated, and was in need of an affordable, durable ride to get by with until the car was ready, and would rent to a person under 25 without any crazy extra fees. We called around to several places, all to no avail. We happened on this one as it is close and were we ever happy we did. Rob at AVIS answered the call, and was just great on the phone. Right from the start, he made things easy and understandable, and tried as much as possible to get us into an affordable price, even with a major convention in town taking all the cars. No crazy extra fees, and clear explanation of any extra's IF WE CHOSE THEM. Also made it easy for us to return early with over night drop box, and did not charge extra for doing so (Just make sure you drop where you pick up) The staff, everyone, and I MEAN EVERYONE at this place is just super friendly, and helpful. This place is not like any other rental place I've been to, and I mean in the attitudes. There are non, and they just try their best to help. Even though this is off strip, it is totally worth it to those of you to seek it out, especially considering how close this store is to the strip. Best experience in renting a car we've ever had! The reviews on here saying Rob is awesome are TRUE! We had a reservation with a competitor who kept adding on fees making the car more expensive by the second, so we left! Hit up Yelp for nearby car rental and Avis came up. We found the shop, and in a very few pleasant minutes we were driving off in a big luxurious car that we could all be comfy in for a long drive! Thank you Rob!
