The man that runs this location in Morehead City, NC is the most unkind and unprofessional manager that I've met since I've moved to the a year ago. I rented a vehicle online that had a Lockheed Martin discount. Family has the opportunity to use this discount and make the reservations without employee. I rented a full sized vehicle for a few days. Pat was rude the minute that I walked into the office. Barked at me that I they only allow one customer in the office at a time. Privacy issues. I sat outside until he was finished waited to be sure he was ready for me and entered the office. He rudely stated that my Uber left and that I was lucky that he had vehicles in his lot. Not a "hello how may I help you?""Sorry for your wait." "Thank you for waiting." He was abrasive and rude. Asked me if my reservation was for work or leisure I replied leisure he frantically told me that I cannot use LM family discount because I'm not the employee. All this time I was texting my husband letting him know how disrespectful and unprofessional this person was. He went on that it was about insurance reasons and removed the vehicle and discount and asked if I was a USAA member. I was speaking with him in a monotone voice because he was so upset with figured I would try my best to temper the situation. I read him the LM code description and that spouses were also entitled to use the code that was entered and that LM also covers the damage waiver. I ended up getting a vehicle that was 3 times the price I originally secured and he would not change it. Another customer, a women, walked in during our transaction and he also barked at her about one customer at a time. She replied with sheesh and sat outside. I think he does this because he is a rude person and there aren't witnesses to confirm his ugly behavior. I was walking up to the door, still in the lot and he barked at me that I needed to get the mileage. I did was I was told even though I knew that was his job to check in all vehicles. There was a customer inside so I waited outside. He told that customer to wait outside so he can finish up with me. I recorded the entire interaction with him bc I knew it would be harsh. After a few minutes of his b berating Me, I told him that I was recording the conversation. Boy did his tone change for a minute. It was no better but he changed. He refused to refund my money. Told me I must be a horrible realtor and threatened to call where I work. Love that some stranger looks me up on SM to threaten my career. I made it easy for him and left my business card which his young associates tore it up and threw tossed it. I'm not sure if she was protecting him or was taught to treat people this way. He threatened that he was going to call the police if I did not leave once our transaction was finished. Of course I would leave, being in his presence was scary. I did receive my $109 credit and 3 days for free from Avis customer service. I guess being a manager who berates his customers losses money. Be aware when you go into this office. He should lose his job. It's hard to find people yo show up. This is the garbage you get. read more

Pat Brennan was incredibly rude, condescending, and downright venomous to me for no reason. Some of the worst treatment I have ever received as a customer. His behavior is unstable and he was physically threatening to the person I was with. Also the car I rented was covered in dog hair. Beware of this location. read more

Same situation as the previous reviewer. I booked a sedan on the website. I had a reservation number and a pickup time. I got dropped off up there and they had no car. The guy working there literally shook his cell phone at me and said this is for calling me to book a reservation not for doing it online. Wow! I was appalled and impressed all at once. He did go on to say that he had an SUV, but because I booked a sedan I could not have it unless I paid an additional $194 for two days. I explained that I would actually prefer the sedan that I booked, but since it's the day before Thanksgiving and they're closed tomorrow, that I hoped he would give it to me for the same price. He said "that's not gonna happen." I walked outside to call the home office because surely they would make this right considering I had a reservation booked on their website. The guy working there followed me outside and continued talking in my ear while I was on the phone with them, probably afraid that I was gonna say the wrong thing to get him in trouble. To my shock, the home office actually backed him up. They said they overbook on purpose and that they could transfer my reservation to the airport in Newbern which is 30-40 minutes away which I clearly had no way to get to. However, the SUV could only be mine if I pay full price. So ultimately they had an option to take care of me, but instead left me stranded. I will absolutely never, under any circumstance, book a car through Budget ever again. I would recommend you do the same. This is an Budget/ Avis location as well. I have rented from the location multiple times. When the woman is working, I know I will get the best service possible. When the man is working, I know I'm going to leave pissed off. I rented a car to be picked up at 8am. I get there 7:55 and he is at the counter so I walk in. He just stares at me so I said I was there for a pick up and he said they weren't open yet I would need to wait. I then go take my daughter to the bathroom a few stores down. Come back and my ride has said he left to go clean the car. He doesn't return until 8:30. I grab my daughter to walk in the store when he then tells me I need to leave her outside, that no unnecessary people need to be in the store. She is 2! I didn't even know what to say. So I asked if he was serious, that my ride needed to leave and he just stared at me again. So I give my daughter to my ride and ask her to watch her. On top of this. There is a couple outside also waiting to pick up their rental. And they were mad they were still waiting as well. We get inside he then decides to bash my ride and say that he can't help when people drop off cars at 6:30 and they need to be cleaned. I told him that it would be in his best interest to stop making rude comments. He was about to say something else and I again say "I think you should stop talking now thank you" He then says he needs to see all of my information to check me in. Even though I did quick check in. So I asked what the point of quick pick up is if I have to go through the entire process again. I didn't leave until 8:40. So now I am behind schedule and I'm still expected to drop off the car at the same time even though I didn't even get in the car until 40 minutes after my reservation. I very much like Avis compared to other companies, but the manager of Morehead City, NC is the worst person I have ever had to deal with. He needs to learn manners and to hold his tongue when it's the customers that keep his business open. read more

Having received several reminders with my confirmation #, I thought everything would run smooth...WRONG I showed up at the scheduled time to pick up my truck in Morehead City, to be informed by Pat that he didn't have a truck that size. Long story short, Pat didn't care and Customer Service expected me to drive one hour away. I called Timmy's Muffler (U-Haul) who referred me to Truckers Toy Store in Morehead City. On August 22nd my wife and I placed a reservation on budget website for the havelock location as our pick up location. According to the budget website there is a location in havelock, so the day of (sep 3rd) I was supposed to get my rental truck at the havelock location at 05:00pm. I get there 30 minutes pior to my original pick up time to find out Havelock location has been closed for almost a year now. So, I called budget customer service to get a better explanation and they couldn't even explained what happened. Budget ended up switch my pick-up location from Havelock to Morehead City location once that had happened I called the location in Morehead City to make sure everything was fine and to make sure they were aware of my reservation. Mr. Pat Brennan didn't even knew what was going on. Corporate took it upon themselves to change my reservation to a difference location and didn't even gave Morehead City location a courtesy call to let them know was as going on. Mr. Pat Brennan took good care of this situation helped out through everything, but right before he was about to collect the payment this guy from headquarters "Tom" made the poor decision to cancel my reservation. Remember this is already almost 07:00pm the location closes at 06:00pm. Corporate made a big mess. If it was wasn't for Mr. Pet Brennan I wouldn't have gotten a truck and I wouldn't be able to get my move going or even move at all. Also, Mr. Pat Brennan gave me 15 moving blankets free of charge. I realize that Morehead city is a god forsaken hell hole, but if Enterprise rent a car can manage to have a stand alone building with a sign that's easy to see from the road, why can't Avis? I rented a car from Avis New Bern airport and went to return it to Morehead City and missed this place twice. It took me twice as long as it should have to return the car because guess what, their office HAS NO SIGN. What kind of business has a tiny office in a strip mall that looks like it's about to be gutted, with no cars around and no signage, plus no numbered address that is visible from the street? It was virtually hidden. My gps got me to the right strip mall but there's a zillion small businesses in there and guess what they ALL have signs. I called new bern to ask what landmark the morehead office was near (since the morehead avis is closed on weekends) and the miserable female who answered the phone told me it wasn't her fault I got lost and hung up on me. Um yea it is the company's fault when you have no sign and your office is a tiny hutch in a strip mall surrounded by stores that all look the same. And because the office there is closed Saturdays, they insanely told me to put the key and rental agreement in another car that was parked there and then lock that car's door. Except I had no key and couldn't lock that car's door. I will never use Avis in Morehead or New Bern again. It's worth the extra $ to use Enterprise in Morehead, who offer you a ride back once you turn your car in. I made a complaint to Avis, using the national customer service number and all they did was take a measly $25 off the bill, not even a full day's rental. Awful read more

Needed a truck to get furniture to New Bern, and they were Johnny on the Spot!!!! Got a great truck, clean, ready to roll, and I was good to go. Price was right for the rental too!!! They worked with me all the way! Very pleasent to work with. In the past had trouble getting up with them when I needed them. New Manager Pat has made this site a great rental office! I highly recommend that if you need to rent a car, Come see Pat in Brandywine Crossing shopping center across from Kurtis Chevrolet and Brandywine. read more

Let's talk about Avis: I'm not even sure where to begin. First of all, I'm active duty military and let me tell you I was treated with the utmost respect and professionalism by Pat who was our representative. Pat made my rental experience quick but very thorough. He was extremely knowledgable and in great spirits. The cost of my rental was very reasonable compared to other rental agencies I had previously researched. I recently had to call Pat to inquire about a last minute rental extension. Not only was he incredibly accommodating but he was also very friendly on the phone and even remembered who I was! All around A+ service. If I could rate a negative star I would! I made my car reservation 2 weeks ago online at the Morehead City location. I arrived at the Avis this morning at my scheduled time to pick up my RESERVED car that I had already PRE-PAID for and the VERY rude man, middle aged, dark hair with glasses, rudely exclaimed, "I'm sorry ma"am my system is down and I will not be able to check you in." And I explained I had made an online reservation and I was there to pick up my reserved car. Then he impatiently exclaimed,"well...I don't have any cars here." And I said, "well......isn't that the point of having a reservation??" I asked what was I supposed to do now because I needed to drive the car to RDU to catch my flight back home. He said I had to call the 800# and change to another pick up location in New Bern, 30 minutes out of my friend's way to drive me there! I left angry, got on the phone with Avis customer service and she said she could reserve a car for me at the Avis in New Bern but it would cost another $30 to switch the reservation! Are you kidding me??? It was not my fault that Avis could not deliver on a customer's reservation! I told her to cancel the reservation altogether and give me a refund. A few minutes later she gets back on the line and tells me "as a courtesy" she would waive the cancellation fee! Really Avis??? Here's a tip....how about HONORING what you promise to a customer when making a reservation and having a @/!%# vehicle available, especially if it has been pre-paid! read more

Recently rented a truck and car trailer for a move to NY. The associate was very efficient and new the procedure but when it came time to discuss insurance, he lost all sense. He spent at least ten minutes on all the terrible things that could happen if I didn't buy insurance and how much it would cost me to replace their equipment, my vehicle, the vehicle I "hit". I am 28 years old and have been driving for a while. I know my capabilities but this associate obviously felt I was not capable of making this trip without incident. I felt very pressured. He said," Either you're incredibly confident or immensely cheap" That's when I made up my mind NOT to take his insurance. It was way over sell with insults thrown in to boot. read more
