I booked the reservation and everything online. I was headed out of town and running a few minutes late, so I called to make sure I didn't need to change my time, which was 4p. The woman I spoke with told me I had an hour grace period, so it would be ok. I arrived at approximately 4:15p to find the front door of the location locked. I knocked, went around back, searched high and low...no one was there. There was no "be right back" sign or anything. After a few minutes, a couple of other customers joined me in the hot, Oklahoma sun...and we waited. We waited for about 15 minutes and finally, someone flew into the parking lot, drove around back...and two male employees appeared to unlock the front door. There was no acknowledgement that we had been waiting or an apology, just... "you must be coming in here". It was highly unprofessional. I finally left around 5p, later than I had anticipated. To top it off, I was a couple hours into my drive and ran out of windshield wiper fluid. I ended up having to buy a bottle to fill up the reservoir. It took almost the entire bottle, so it obviously hadn't been checked before I rented it. Returning the car was also a longer process because the same two guys were there, trying to help 4 or 5 people waiting. Being better staffed, changing some policies or enforcing them & a key dropbox for after hours drop off would be good additions at this location. In the meantime, I'll take my money elsewhere.

I reserved a car last week and was supposed to pick it up first thing this morning, however, I was…read moretold they do not have any cars available for me and that cars were supposed to be returned this afternoon. I asked if they could find a car for me at another location and was told that I could look online for that. I looked online and the Hertz website says cars are available at a different location so I called the reservation number and ask them about this and they tell me I need to make a new reservation, the old one is no longer valid and the rate for the car is now $157.00 when the reservation I'd made was for the same dates and that reservation says I'd be paying $53.00. I explained that this is horribly inconvenient and explained that I'd taken an Uber to get the car so now I would need to pay for another Uber to the location across town AND they will not honor the rate I was originally given. I told them this does not seem fair given I'm now completely stuck without a vehicle and I'm told they do have a car but it will cost almost three times as much and it's another $25 Uber to go get this car. They tell me that there's nothing they can do and they blame "the system" . That prices cannot be adjusted in "the system" and there are no humans who are capable of changing this regardless of the circumstances. I ask why I was given a reservation if all the cars were rented and they said that the cars that show as available are not an accurate reflection of the actual inventory of each rental office. This is absurd. I ask them if this is true then how do they know a car is even available at the location across town? I'm just asking because I don't want to pay another $25 in Uber to be told I'm not able to get a car there either. They transfer me to a supervisor who tells me they will call the office to verify the inventory and confirm a car is there. I am still pretty upset about the rate increase so he says he'll knock $10 off for me - even though I was just told that no human under any circumstance can do anything about prices in "the system". So then he gets back to me to tell me there aren't any vehicles at the location across town ( good thing I asked! ) and I was pretty upset seeing had I not asked about this I'd have taken another Uber over there for nothing. I ask them what they can do now and I was told they will keep my original reservation and call me as soon as a car comes back in and my original rate will be honored. Now I've been waiting the entire day and around 2pm I start checking in because I've not heard from anyone. No one answers the phone. I tried again at 3, 430 and 530 . I still do not have a car and no one ever got back to me so I've decided I will not be using Hertz again!

And then there's a couple young employees who counteract the mustache man, so it kind of works itself out... I was looking for some spark plugs recently. The Honda dealership I went to wanted to charge me $30 + labor for each spark plug. I got the same things for approximately $10 at AAP, and it was a simple enough fix that it didn't require getting the dealership to do it. So something that was going to cost me a $150+ ended up costing me $40. Mustache man gave me a solid explanation while not making me feel like an idiot. Find the Mustache man.[1] Ask him questions. He'll walk you through it. Then Google/Youtube your car make/model and whatever issue you're having with your vehicle. Some good Samaritan out there has more than likely described the fix and/or uploaded a "how to" video. The internet + AAP will help you feel like a man.[2] [1]Note: Sounds like a superhero.
