This is the worst experience I have ever had with a car rental place. There was NO one at the front for at least 5 or more I just decided to leave but the manager Felicia was very unprofessional and needs to be trained again, i booked with this particular location twice in one week and neither time I was able to get a car after having a reservation. she told me she didn't have cars my question is why was I able to make a reservation. Terrible service. Do not come here. Scott very disrespectful. We rented an electric car which was not working perfectly. We tried to request for a non electric vehicle. And instead of trying to see where or when we can give us another vehicle. He threw another electric vehicle at us and said he didn't have anything else. When I asked to speak to a manager several times he didn't give any manager information to speak to. This has been an ongoing problem with this location not having proper vechiles and not having any vechiles available. I rented a car from here recently and the process was smooth. I did the check-in online, went to the rental place and the person at the counter was helpful and nice. They had the car that I wanted that actually surpassed my expectations. The only reason it's not 5 stars is because the place itself is small and not really accommodating. It's like as if they don't want you to sit down. From what I observed, my guess is if you don't have a reservation, good luck finding a car. I will be back. read more

Terrible service. Ms. Debbie took care of me said my email was too long and asked for my husband's emai. We told her we were renting the car for 2 days gave me the pink slip. i got there on Monday at 1;30 the next day on tuesday she called me saying i had to return the vehicle. Never emailed me the receipt , car was filthy, with damages. a total of 255.00 was a toyota camry. not worth renting from them. Ms. Debbie was tired and confused, She didnt know what she was doing. poor customer service. When i returned the vehicle Ronnie took care of me confirmed my email and had no issue sending me my receipt. It's very frustrating when you have a time that your car NEEDS to be returned and the business is constantly opening late. Today, Felicia got to work late while I waited outside the business to return my rental. This is extremely annoying when you are on a schedule and need to be somewhere. I dealt with Felicia the day before when I rented the vehicle and she stated she was new to the store from Washington. She also apologized for only having a vehicle lower than a class I rented and stated she would make it up to me next time. While I waited outside, I watched Felicia pull up to work almost 10 minutes late. When the doors finally opened, she blatantly lied that she was "in the back" working. When I told her I watched her just pull in, she continued to make excuses and lie. This rental location is very unprofessional and if you have to have your rental car returned by a certain time, or you need to be somewhere because you're traveling, don't rent from this location, you'll be late waiting on the manager to show up for work. Finally, I asked for a discount for the fact my time was wasted and she said no way. I explained my issue and she told me to contact Corporate. When I asked for her name, she stated "It's on the receipt". I asked for the receipt and Felicia said I sent it to your email. STAY FAR AWAY... Do yourself a favor and stay as far away from this location or the Sears Location when dealing with an employee names JOHN. He is a liar and only tells you what you want to hear and when It comes to bringing the car/van back his charges are no where what he quoted you. He priced match a van for me and then overcharged me by 200.00. I was told the total cost of the van would be 542.00 out the door and the charges were 742.00 when I returned the van. I sent my husband in to return then and he wasn't aware of the conversation with this LIAR, so he signed the invoice. Over the holidays, we rented from Avis and had the worst experience from beginning to end. We ended up having to change the vehicle 3 times during a 1 week vacation, wasting time from our trip. The first vehicle had mechanical issues. The second vehicle had a cracked windshield that got worse as the trip progressed and finally a 3rd vehicle to get us home. But finally, they decided to charge us a deposit of over $200 because they claimed the gas was short in one of our returns, which is inaccurate. When we tried to dispute the claim, they asked for ridiculously impossible proof to show that the gas was filled. Despite all the inconveniences, I wasn't going to leave a bad review until this final charge. Although it was innacurate due to all the other inconveniences, the least they could have done is waive this fee read more

Avis in Pembroke Lakes mall is the worst. The employee's have poor customer service. I had a car reserved and when I showed up to get the car they said there was no car available. After showing my ___! They found a car in the parking lot. That has happened to several people I know. Worst car rental experience I've ever had. It's in a kiosk in Pembroke lakes mall. I arrived at 8:30am as I indicated on my reservation. The rest of the stores in the mall are closed at that time so it's fairly deserted. I got to the kiosk and nobody was there but the computer was on. I called their number and of course the phone at the abandoned kiosk rang. So I sat on the bench next to the kiosk to wait. About 20 minutes later an older gentleman walked up and asked if he could help me. Turns out he had been outside smoking the whole time. I go through the process and get the keys and he doesn't walk me to the car, just hands me the keys and the rental agreement. I walk outside and search for the car which I found about 100 yards away. When I opened the door I couldn't believe how bad the smell was. It smelled like it had been smoked in for years despite the no smoking sticker and threat of an extra charge for doing so. Not wanting to venture back into the mall and with places to be, I rolled all the windows down hoping to air it out. I had the car for four days and have had to rewash or dry clean each piece of clothing I wore in the car because the smell permeated my clothes. I bought air fresheners during the rental but they had no effect. Returning the car was even better. I got a voicemail the day I was to return the car. The lady from the voicemail mentioned being from Avis and said something about the fuel level and returning the car but she was very difficult to understand. Not because of a language barrier but because her voice was strained from what I assume has been a lifetime of cigarettes. So I get to the location to return the car and a lady is sitting at the kiosk eating a sandwich and chips. Kinda awkward interrupting someone's meal but I guess they don't give her time to take a break to eat elsewhere. She was visibly annoyed about the interruption too. Turns out it's the same lady from the voicemail I got earlier that day. I hand her the keys and she asks if I took a picture of the gas level and odometer. I told I wasn't aware that was a requirement. She said I should have known since she left me a voicemail. So I told her she was somewhat difficult to understand. She looked at me like I was from a different planet and rolled her eyes with the most annoyed look I've ever seen. I let her know that regardless of the faces she made, I still had trouble understanding her and told her to give me the keys and I'll go take the picture. She backpedalled and realized her attitude was unwarranted and told me she'd just write down 300 miles used. I just said ok and left. Renting cars shouldn't be this difficult. Find people who can treat customers with respect, aren't lazy and obtuse, or just close this location. It's just a kiosk so it can't be generating much revenue but you've lost a customer who will never rent from Avis again because of this one location. read more

PRICED GAUGED DURING THE HURRICANE!!!!! I cannot believe that Avis tried to take advantage of my family because of the hurricane. We booked a trip to Tallahassee via Jacksonville. Due to the hurricane the trip has to be cancelled. I booked my trip and prepaid for the rental car. I called to cancel and rebook for next month. The rep named Axel said he would have to charge me a $50 cancellation fee!!! (The car rental was only $80). Then he said I can have the same car for the same amount of days for more money!!! I told him the cancellation was an act of god and not because we wanted to cancel the trip, this was a necessity. I asked Axel for his ID number as I was going to write a review and call corporate about the treatment during the hurricane. He lied to me and said he did not have an ID. I asked to speak to the manager. After waiting for 10 minutes Albert the manager told me the same thing except he offered to refund me my prepaid payment. I simply asked for the same fare for the rebooked trip. He said NO!! I would have to pay more money this time. I asked for his ID number (which is 2302232) and then I asked why Axel lied to me when he said they did not get ID numbers. He had no excuse. So now I was lied to by Axel (the first rep), waited for over 10 minutes on hold then priced gauged when I wanted to rebook after it was safe to travel. Avis corporate should be ashamed for employing such low character individuals and for also attempting to take advantage of those affected by the hurricane. I rented a car Nov 12th-14th at this place. The car should be returned at 9.42 am on Nov.14th to avoid being charged for an extra day. At 8.50am on Nov 14th I was standing outside the mall and called to have them get the keys for me to return the car. The worker John did not pick up. FOUR times I called with NO answer. Each time the call went to their call centre? Eventually I spoke with a supervisor Ellen. I explained I needed to return the car because I needed to go to work. She assured me that since I had made a good faith effort to return the car on time I would not be charged extra, because I HAD to leave with the car. I couldn't leave the car without turning over the key. I could return it to another location, but I would have to pay for that They CHARGED me extra. The worker is rude and inconsiderate, and AVIS doesn't care. They'll take your money without batting an eye. This guy was clearly late for work or he was out smoking. Either way he did not pick up the phone to allow me entrance to the mall. This Avis is located in a mall. The mall opens at 10am, BUT, they open at 8am. Once you call them they come to the mall entrance and open the door to allow you inside. When my calls went through to the call centre they used the mall opening at 10am as an excuse as to why their employee did not answer the phone. Unscrupulous, unethical business people. I reserved a mini van specifically for a family trip on June 22, 2021. The mini van was large enough to accommodate 7 family members, and a large amount of luggage for a weeklong trip. My scheduled pickup for the mini van was Friday, July 30, 2021, a whole month and more after the original booking date. I contacted Avis via telephone the Monday prior to my pickup date, and confirmed my rental details for the mini van. On the morning of the pickup, I was contacted by the Weston (FL) attendant, and advised they did not have the mini van I reserved, and instead offered a much smaller vehicle (Kia Sorento). I was given the option of taking the Sorento (the only vehicle available) or cancelling my reservation, leaving me carless on the date I was scheduled to depart on my trip. Upon picking up the Sorento, the smell of smoked cigarettes and marijuana was sickening, and required a deep cleaning by my husband, adding unnecessary tasks on the date of our scheduled departure. I contacted their corporate office via telephone with my complaints, and they were unable to accommodate me in providing the mini van I originally required, and only offered an even smaller vehicle to be picked up at my local airport. I declined the smaller vehicle and was stuck with the Sorento's cigarette and marijuana smell flaring up throughout the whole week of travel. Unfortunately, due to the small size of the vehicle I was given, several of our family members were unable to join in our vehicle, as we had a large amount of luggage on board. This whole situation is unacceptable, as the original vehicle reserved should have been guaranteed since it was reserved a significant amount of time prior to the pickup date. Adding insult to injury, the added stench inside the vehicle provided is beyond unprofessional. I will most likely never rent from Avis again, and will be sharing our regretful experience. read more

This is the worst service/ treatment I've ever had in my whole life. The first car they gave us was dirty and had the check engine light on which he tried to tell us was "fine" gave us another car and had agreed on a price which my uncle and boyfriend heard as well. Upon returning the car they pull out different papers saying it was twice as much as the agreed upon price and was extremely rude about it as well. Had a bunch of random charges on the receipt that didn't make sense like lots of tax and "tire batteries" never will I ever rent with them again. We had some visitors over the weekend and needed to rent a mini van for some comfort. So, I called this Avis location at the Sears in Pembroke Lakes Mall and talked to JOHN. He was very nice and gave me a great rate. He was also very patient waiting for me to pick up the van since I got caught up at work and was delayed. Please stay far away from this place!!! My mother rented from here and when her car battery died and brought the car back at the agreed 9:00am time. We arrived at 8:50 (she had to be at work at 10 so time was of the essence) and both me and my mother called and called for nearly an hour and NO ONE answered the phone! It kept sending our calls straight to the automatic 1-800 number. She had to get to work and was about to be late so we called a corporate office and they gave us the run around and left us on hold for a long time. The representatives we spoke too didn't care at all about our situation and the fact that WE would be responsible for another day of driving it even we were there ON TIME. My mother finally got them to admit that she wouldn't be responsible for another day of having the car because it wasn't her fault she couldn't return it. I had a car for two weeks, the rates all seemed good, the day before it was due I stopped by the store and asked what was the one way charge for dropping off at Miami Airport and could I extend to 6pm. He looked it up and said there was no additional charge for dropping off at the airport. I was surprised and asked him twice. When I dropped it off I was charged 5 times the original rate. When I called to ask what happened they denied ever telling me it was the same rate. read more
