Preferred customer and received the absolute worst customer service at this location. "Dee" and "Hakeem" (these were the names they gave me after they refused to give me their names after me asking them multiple times) were the two men working at the time I went into this establishment. I had made the reservations through the 1-800 corporate number late last night for a one way rental. Both men ganged up on me and hassled me for not having my work ID and for not calling this particular store before 5pm to make reservation (as if I am supposed to know their individual rules). The very nice lady who booked my reservation over the phone through corporate told me I only need my driver's license and assured me that my reservation is booked and a car is available. I don't carry work ID for personal trips for security reasons and explained that to them. The two men also bashed Avis corporate stating that the corporate number are some people from "another country" and that their store and their own policies which they invented and put on signs around their store are superior and continued pointing to their numerous homemade signs during this conversation. Mind you, I booked through the corporate number after hours so how would have I known this store created their own policies that deviate from Avis and put "their" policies on signs to put out while customers come into the store. After about 15 minutes of this behavior, they begin telling me they don't even have any cars. I feel so taken advantage of as I have a busy day and they just wasted my time and belittled me over this whole experience. Then I had to ask them 3 times to finally give me back my driver's license and credit card before I could leave the store and find another rental car at another establishment. Also, this entire interaction happened in front of other customers while these two men chastised me pointing at their signs and demeaning me. I have been to several Avis locations around the country and have never had a bad experience. This location should be shut down or taken over by corporate. There is absolutely no reason any person in customer service should treat their customers in this lowly and unprofessional manner. If I was running Avis, these two men would be fired immediately for their behavior. read more

Service was on point great! I was a bit hesitant reading all the negative reviews prior to booking a car. I decided to give them a solid chance and I'm glad I did. I was given exceptional help by Dean, Rad and Hamid (unsure of spelling). They were sold out on the Sunday that I needed the car, but Dean worked his magic and promised me that he'll find something for me. He fulfilled his promise and I picked up a Charger that Sunday. I actually booked an economy car based on my budget, but he only had the Charger. He did not up charge to the Luxury rate and kept the economy rate. Car was clean, tank filled and no issues upon return. Solid experience! read more

I am writing this review with frustration but I will keep it professional and stick to the facts. I want to highlight that this situation was not how a business should be operated and there seems to be a problem with local leadership for allowing it to happen. As a preferred Avis member, I had booked a full-size Dodge Durango for 4 days for a cross-state trade show. I prepaid the entire amount through the Avis mobile app and selected a 5 PM pickup time at the nearby Avis location in Stafford, VA. However, when I arrived at the location at 4:58 PM, the doors were locked and the lights were off. This was surprising as the location was supposed to be open until 5 PM. Upon checking my Avis app, I found that I already had an active rental for a white full-size Dodge Durango. Interestingly, the same vehicle was parked in the location's parking lot with the same license plate as on my app, and an individual was driving it. As I approached the vehicle, it pulled away and drove out of the shopping plaza. This situation made me stressed as the vehicle was booked under my name, and I needed it for my trade show. I called Avis and booked another car at the DCA airport, but they had no record of any vehicle for me when I arrived. I had to make another booking for another SUV, but I had to settle for a smaller vehicle which did not fit all my supplies for the trip. I spent hours on the phone trying to rectify the issue and confirm that the rental in Stafford was not legitimate, and I required a refund. Finally, I got a refund, but the receipt for the Dodge Durango showed additional miles and a fuel service fee. When I returned the rented vehicle to the Avis location, I spoke to the manager, and unfortunately, our exchange did not go well. I apologize for my attitude, but the manager's response was not helpful, and I felt like he did not care about the situation. In conclusion, I will still use Avis's services, but I will not utilize the Stafford location again and do not recommend their services or staff under any circumstances. If a location is closing at a specific time, they need to implement an operational protocol to avoid inconveniencing customers. Furthermore, employees cannot drive vehicles that are under customer bookings as it is unacceptable and poses a safety risk. read more

At Enterprise we are in and out in 20 min but this place we were here for over an hour. The lady at the front desk was text and reading texts instead of helping customers. They had no cars ready and we had to wait for them to clean them even though the guy was sitting inside doing nothing when we got there. Please please take the time and go across the street to Enterprise. This place is just awful!!! And everyone here should be fired!!! Why is it so hard these days just to do your job!!!!!!!! Got over on my on my pricing, charged me for extending, charged for a whole day for being less than an hour late. I've ran behind for an hour or two before with no problem. Friday, July 20 @ 1pm Avis - Brafferton Center, North Stafford 22554 I have never witnessed such poor customer service in ANY business as I did that day. My daughter had booked a reservation for a car via Priceline. According to the agent "on duty" her credit rating wasn't high enough, by Avis' standards, to rent a car. My daughter called me to come and help her. No agent at the desk. I had to walk back to the office to find him. His response was, " I'm on a conference call and the only one here." He reluctantly came back to the desk and proceeded to announce for all to hear, "Her credit rating is not high enough." There was a gentleman sitting there who witness the whole thing. Is this how Avis' treats customers? Perhaps a course in customer service for your employees is in order. I will share my daughter's experience with anyone who'll listen. After having a lack-luster experience at Avis in Springfield, VA, Dean was able to make everything right. They're vehicles are dirty and smell, they lie about where the gas is so they can charge you they're price for gas. I rented a car last October on my return they did the walk around said all was all ok and I left. In December I received a letter from an insurance company saying I owed for repairs and time lost for use ! They claimed I had damaged a sensor on the front bumper which is impossible as I did not hit anything!!! They wanted $800, I had used my own insurance and it was all very shady. When inquiring about the final walk around they said they found it while cleaning it!! Strangely enough it was in the repair shop the same day I returned it how convenient seeing as I did not use their insurance..!!! Will never rent from here again and if anyone else does take a video of every part of the car and make them check all the sensors they rushed my check out walk through so do a thorough check. read more

I agree that I would give this location 0 stars. We reserved and prepaid a minivan rental for a road trip only to get to the location and be told that they didn't have a van for us. What is the point of a reservation?!? Offering me a small SUV or a huge SUV doesn't meet my needs and I didn't appreciate the representative looking at me like I'm nuts for not taking his offer. Unless you really don't care what vehicle they give you, I wouldn't recommend renting from here. This review is also for the Budget Rental Car section. Seems like all employees work for both though. Something as simple as a dropbox (like many other locations have) would be convenient. If you are in a time crunch, don't even go, they take forever just to do simple tasks. I have to get up early to drop keys and paperwork off for a relative who gets in late at night from trips at times. On the way to work, this is a strain because they take so long. After paperwork was signed I conducted inspection with an employee I guess to receive a dirty car that had cigarette burns, cracked windshield and dirt all over. This review is based on my experience for renting a car from Budget at this location. The wait time to check out and return the car was way too long, as well as the poor condition of the car. We also had few overcharging issues for returning the car on time after we tentatively extended the lease for one day. We were charged $10 fee by the reservation system, which the understaffed manager tried to take off unsuccessfully. The one year old SUV had was not professionally clean, had road noise and over $40,000 miles. Budget rental car is definitely running below "Budget " on quality and customer excellence at this location. NOT a fan! read more

Dean is a con artist. I was visiting Stafford and needed a car to haul around some friends and family members so I reserved a car for two days (from Friday around 11am till Sunday around 10am). My return flight was early Sunday morning so I rented the car till 10am just in case I needed to use the rental to get myself and family to the airport. I attempted to return the car early morning on Sunday at 5am and was confused to learn that they didn't have a drop box. So I parked the car right in front of the facility and gave the key to my brother to return it after he dropped us off at the airport. He tried to return the car afterward and the place was still closed. So he kept the key and returned it the following morning. At the time of returning the key, my brother explained that we had tried to return the key twice before and were not able to do so because there was no drop box. Dean acknowledged that he saw the car and was looking for the key, thanked my brother and assured him that there would be no additional charges. Well - he lied. Extra charge of about $107 showed up on my credit card. When I called Dean to try to reason with him, he would not budge even though he acknowledged that the car was back on time and that there was no option for me to return the keys. According to him the car was returned when the keys were returned. My brother then called him to try to reason with him since he had assured him that there would be no extra charged. Dean stated that well i was busy with customers and in a hurry so didn't have the time to look at the account so I told you there would be no charges. Needless to say, i'm disputing this charge. This guy is a snake - stay away from him and take your business elsewhere. read more

First of all, I waited an hour to get my car after a long line of unhappy people. Secondly, I ended up turning the car in early which increased my daily rate over 2 1/2 times! Before I took the car, I was on the website and it stated that a 4 day rental was $211. A 15 day rental was $590. Since I had a car in the shop, I went on the side of caution and took it for the 15 days. Imagine my surprise when they charged me $307 for turning it in at the 4 day mark!!. When questioned, the office told me that was the best that they could do and to call the 800 number. While I realize that turning it in early would cause an increase of daily rates, I am shocked at the disparity of rates and lack of customer service. Feels a little like bait and switch.
