Duncaster Continuing Care Retirement Community has always been a top notch Graduated Living…read moreCommunity since its founding in 1984. Recognized and awarded throughout their 34+ years. This Community has recently provided us with two special and personal experiences. First, my mother-in-law enjoyed and when I say enjoyed, this is very understated, a recovery period in their on-site Caleb Hitchcock Health Center. This was followed by a bad fall in her own home, which required surgery and two+ months of ambulatory therapy. Second, our daughter was offered and accepted a position with the Community. I was able to spend two and half hours one evening during an earlier snow fall to "safely Uber" my daughter home after her shift. While there I was able to stroll and observe the Community first hand. In that time, I chatted with the most wonderful residents, diverse, each within their own level of life and ability. However ALL appeared happy and with a most impressive sense of close community and caring for one and other. My favorite component is the Aquatic Center. Top notch with scheduled low impact exercise classes, monitored open swim lanes, and a gradual ramp for aided aqua therapy. Not to put aside their adjacent Health and Wellness Center with fitness and movement classes for all. The dining facilities are NOT run of the mill either. Ranging for Casual formal dining, private spaces for residents to dine with visitors, and even door service. The menu was quite impressive offering a new menu everyday catering to all dietary needs and wellness, too. Now, entertainment. I happened upon an open auditorium with a large number of residents enjoying a live Piano, Violin, and Cello performance. I stood in the doorway mesmerized leaving the snowstorm behind. From there I wondered into their Library with an ample and diverse section of book stacks, warm well lit seating areas, and during the day a Librarian. In warmer, months the grounds are park like, the landscaping is beautiful and offers a number of pathways with spaces sit, enjoy nature, and let a little Vitamin D seep in. I'm only scratching the surface and I could go on, however, I close with this: I hope to be as fortunate one day as the Duncaster Residents to partake in such a well planned, maintained, and caring Community to help extend the enjoyment of our sunset.

An added reassurance is that they are accredited through the state and have received various awards. Duncaster has been in business for about 35 years and they've certainly earned their great reputation in the community. This is a facility I would highly recommend for anyone seeking to place their elder family into quality care with excellent healthcare professionals.

How lucky I was to chose Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine Centers at 44 Dale Rd in Avon,CT' . I never thought I would have full use of my arm again, and although the PT Therapists insist I did it, putting in the hard work I disagree. They worked miracles, They understand how the body is built for all the parts to work together. They tailor an exercise program to work the muscles you will need to strengthen your muscles etc,. Before PT I was in constant pain for months unable to do basic care. Now I have full range of motion and am pain, free I did not dare hope it would be possible., but Kristen developed a plan that worked. The entire team was there for me as needed I want to Thank you all. You are the best.

I had had cancerous lymph nodes removed from my left groin area and as a result of losing the lymph nodes, had developed Lymphedema. Glen is a certified specialist in Lymphatic massage, which was the treatment I needed to help alleviate the sweeping and the pain. HE WAS AMAZING!! Extremely knowledgeable (he has a million degrees including Doctor of Physical Therapy) and is studying for more. His deep understanding of my condition, how the body works and how to administer the best therapy (and give me my at home work to do as well) literally made the difference between my having this condition - painful Lymphedema - for life, or gradually subsiding. My therapy concluded once it was at the stage it would remain at (with continued at home care) which was 90% better than when I first walked into the Rehab center. Everyone at the center was welcoming and professional. Greeted you by name the minute you walked in the door. Much more personal than some of the other rehab centers I have gone to. All have been good, but these folks had more of a personal interest in my as a patient than I have experiences before. And when you are hurting - that extra care goes a long way. I am so glad Ivy moved into the Valley! I hope I don't need PT for anything for a while now, but should I need it, it would definitely be back to Ivy and Glen.

They use the online portal, MyChart which is super convenient as a patient. Patients can retrieve records, schedule/reschedule appointments, and more. This office was in a convenient location and it had plenty of parking. I booked an appointment for a primary care visit. The next available appointment was about two months out. I preferred a female doctor but all they had was a male doctor; the next female doctor available would be 7 months out. A couple of days before the appointment, they send you some documents to fill out electronically. Checking in was easy on the day of the appointment; the lobby was large and spacious and the front desk was professional. I only waited 5 minutes before being called in. The medical assistant checked my weight, height, blood pressure, and gathered more personal data. That was about 10 minutes. Dr. Lynne came in about 5 minutes later. He seemed friendly and professional. He answered all of my questions. It was a quick appointment but I felt I was heard and everything was addressed. Blood work was ordered. A great thing about this place, they have a Quest Diagnostics onsite and you don't need to make an appointment. At my age, they said I don't need to get a physical every year, but every other year. I checked out and scheduled my next appointment. Overall, a quick seamless process. The only downfall is, getting an appointment as a new patient can take forever. However, I would definitely continue to go to this practice. It's a breath of fresh from my last experience with a primary care physician.
