It was cool to discover a live theater experience near my house. I, for the most part, enjoyed the…read moreshow. I went to see Flanagan's Wake with a friend. We did GA, and I got the senior discount, so that was cool. There's a bar that you can order beverages. I saw some people with charcuterie boards. I ended up with a rosé. I won't do that next time. There was a 15 minute intermission, but the line for the bathroom was so long. I ended up going back to my seat. So I ended up getting a little uncomfortable the last half of the show. I did like the interaction with the audience.. though I'm glad they never picked on me!

The recent show I attended had great snacks and drinks - one couple even seemed to have a charcutier and bottle of wine though most of the seating does not have a lot of options to set things down. The crowds are always diverse. I was a bit shocked when an actor tapped someone sitting to move for them and the guy blatantly just ignored her.... just wow. This location just has one bathroom which is on a timer. I had an awkward lights out situation while in there. I seriously just sat and lights out... I use a cane and am already awkward enough without being in a strange space needing to find the roll of tp in pitch black and also get up and find the light switch. Someone was behind me so I warned them just in case...a person who worked there barked loudly at me that 'IT'S ON A FIFTEEN MINUTE TIMER' and I am uncertain if that was chastising me saying I was in there longer than the maybe five minutes I was - even with me stumbling around in the dark. It was just rather odd. Also, it seems a staple for places to have ushers who are generally clueless that they work there and there is a whole audience there to see a show. I was right by the door and a romantically involved couple who were both ushers sat also right by the door the whole show. I am not sure which was more annoying - him texting through the whole show {while rustling a program to try to hide his phone which was actually more distracting} or her constantly petting him and whispering back and forth with him through the entire show. I get that they have probably seen the play fifty times now and are bored but there was a teen who, legit was wearing flannel PJ bottoms and was pretty young who stayed engaged, not even fidgeting the whole time. So, maybe have the ushers by the exit who can pretend we the audience are new here and want to watch the play. There were a few audience members who would stand up to see things or had crazy weird laughs and that actually makes it more amusing. I was seated between two entrance and exits but honestly the actors move throughout and I feel like there really are not bad seats so pick out the type of chair you feel good sitting in since it is all unique pieces of furniture.

The auditorium had nice acoustics and sight lines, and I don't think there was a bad seat in the house. We actually sat next to Patricia and her husband, who happened to be one of David's old High School Teachers. Outside the Auditorium is a pretty multi-level lobby space, teaching rooms, an interesting art gallery, and great light. There's also a spacious outside plaza and an inviting entrance. We went to the Old Spaghetti Factory on South Waterfront. The location was beautiful for date night. Loved about it: It was nice to get into the character and be on the set of a real life clue game. Loved how we everyone was dressed for the Masquerade Billionaire Club Ball. It really added to the whole ambience. People actually got into character! Loved to see how everyone acted and showed emotions. Drawbacks: The people on our table were a little shy (on their 2nd/3rd date) and weren't participating as much so that was a drawback for us. Food was so/so but again we were there for the experience and not the food and that is where I took away a star. They were a little loose with the directions with what to do with money or who should respond how. Now we are looking forward to next time because we know what to do. They took mugshots in the beginning and during the event and promised to send us the link to the pictures via email. We never got them :( take your own pictures! Tips: Its all about the guests! Be involved in it and have fun. Going in a group would be fun. Its fun to see how your friends/other couples act/react in different situations. Talk and mingle with other.

We are definitly going to go again once there is a new "show".

We always go to their New Year show and my kids love how funny and original their plays are. They also do plays through out the year geared towards adults. Last year my youngest daughter of 6 years old joined their kids theater school and absolutely loved it. She was learning poems by heart, singing, dancing and having lots of fun. Classes were in Russian which is very important to me to keep Russian language alive for my kids. Twice a year they have kids performances and as a parent you get to see how much your child have blossomed in confidence and ability to perform. We can't wait to start new classes this upcoming school year. Prices are very affordable and the owners pour their hearts into this theater. This summer they also started summer camps for kids. Unfortunately we were not able to join but as a parent who has 4 kids and have a lot of experience with camps I would say the program that this theater is offering one of the best. I can't say enough great things about this place and I hope that community rally around and helps to keep it going for many years to come

This studio is family ran and you can tell. It's super welcoming here! Every staff member, from the instructors to the parents in the waiting room are really friendly!! What I'm mostly impressed with is the love, the connection and the passion, each staff member has for every single students. All while maintaining structure and control of the class. There's so many students and it's very impressive to see them connect to each and every dancer. They are super organized, have great communication and always send out emails on updates. I called 4-5 different studios, before I found Encore, with no call backs from my voicemails, no reply to my emails at all and the one studio that we did a trial class with was a a total fail. They put my girls in the totally wrong level class and the instructor was completely unprofessional. Encore replied immediately and got us right in.!! So, don't settle for just any studio they are not all the same. I have a 19 year old daughter and have been through this industry before. I'm a dancer myself, (well I'm only dancing in the kitchen these days lol) but let me tell you, sometimes it is like an episode of dance moms and it's important to find the right fit if your trying to build your child's confidence in dance and plan on having them dance long term. A True Local Gem Worth Supporting!…read more In my quest to support local small businesses, I've driven past Joy Cinema many times while heading down 99W toward Tigard -- always thinking, "I really need to stop in one of these days." Fast forward to the 40th anniversary showing of Back to the Future, and I finally did it! Sure, I could have gone to one of the big movie chains nearby, but I wanted to support a locally owned theater -- and I'm so glad I did. While Joy Cinema doesn't have its own parking lot, there's plenty of parking in the shopping center just behind it. The lobby is small but welcoming, and you'll likely be greeted by the owner himself -- who runs everything from ticket sales to concessions to the movie projector. It truly feels like a one-man show, and that personal touch makes the experience so special. Plus, the prices for both tickets and snacks are refreshingly affordable compared to the big chains. The theater itself has one large screening room, and it's impressive -- spacious, comfy seats, great surround sound, and a large screen that makes for a perfect movie experience. They don't drown you in endless previews, just a couple quick ones before the feature starts. I also appreciate some of the fun movie history and facts they presented prior to the screening. I also appreciated that they have clearly marked spots for wheelchairs in prime viewing areas -- a thoughtful touch that shows care for accessibility. Unfortunately, one rude family arrived late, talking loudly and even letting their kids run around, which disrupted the movie for a bit. The owner handled it as best as anyone could -- even stepping in multiple times to address the situation. It's tough when guests behave poorly, but I really admired how he tried to keep things under control while protecting his business. After the show, the owner greeted us again and asked how we enjoyed the movie -- that kind of personal connection is rare these days. I'll absolutely be back to Joy Cinema. It's a local treasure run by someone who truly cares about movies and the community. If you're in the area and want to enjoy a film while supporting a small business, skip the big chains and check this place out!
